  • Love your videos! Next time you make waffles, try mixing your yeast with some warm milk and let it activate, then mix in the rest of the wet ingredients, then pour and mix into the dry ingredients. Pour into the heated waffle iron on one side (both sides should be hot though, so preheat a bit beforehand), close the lid then half way through cooking flip the iron (in one piece) and finish on the second side. You will get a more even colouring and fluffier waffles :)

  • Just so that you know next time you'll make waffles: you're not supposed to mix egg white foam with a mixer. The reason we use egg white foam is to have a fluffy mixture. When you use mixer all this fluffyness goes away. You just need a big spoon (or a spatula) and carefully mix by hand with delicate bottom to top movements. Don't be afraid if there are spots you see a lot of egg white. Either way it'll spread in the waffle maker.

Also heat the waffle maker before putting in batter, if you put the batter in and let it warm up then the waffle will also stick.

    • I was looking for just this comment. And I'll add this, because we're nitpicking, right?: you put the mixer's beaters into the mix BEFORE you turn them on, not after. Think cement mixing by hand, if you're using a hand tool. Otherwise you'll have powder all over you and every other nearby surface. But you're a restorer not a construction worker or cook, so we'll forgive. It's SUCH a beautiful restoration.

Until the coals were cold. Then pulled it out hosed it off. Oiled it and put it back into the fire pit but on a rack with fried potatoes in it. Best ones I've ever eaten. No sandblaster needed. The video was interesting to watch tho.
