  • I have to say that the Zippo company is shear genius. Change nothing for 90 years, thus making all of the parts compatible over the years and STILL raking in the dough.

    @Little_Red_Riding_Hoodlum@Little_Red_Riding_Hoodlum Жыл бұрын
    • not all parts are compatible. zippos design changed a few times during the history. some changes were big (especially during the early years of zippo), some barely noticeable. still, not all parts are compatible to each other.

    • I think part of the reason they are still raking in the dough, based on YT content, is that people regularly lose them! It is one thing if it is a generic lighter, and another thing altogether for a commemorative one.

    • It’s not. 1933 model, 1933 is when zippo produced their first lighter, the overall design has stayed the same but if it had the Amphibious Ranger badge on it then I’m sure it’s not from 1933

  • Beautiful job! I'm old enough to remember when refillable lighters like the Zippo were still the most common. Back then, people took care of the things they owned and took pride in how long they lasted. The Zippo and Ronson lighters were proud possessions for lots of people. It really says something that Zippo is still around even 50 years after the lighter industry came to be dominated by makers of crappy disposable lighters from companies like Bic. Great video.

  • Something I know about D-Day is that they had specialized tanks that could act like boats. They added some floatation devices to the sides of the takes to help make them more floatable and added mechanical rudders to the back to steer it. While it may not have been adopted in sea warfare unfortunately, it is still an interesting fact, and the reason why there are actually quite a few tanks under the water at Normandy Besch

    @andrewbanks1175@andrewbanks1175 Жыл бұрын

My grandfather was in the first division US Army, he was the first Gunner on a mortar crew and first wave on Omaha Beach. So, yeah I know a little bit about D-Day. Now stick with me on this one, one of my customers, who has now passed away had a father that was in the first division that also went in on Omaha Beach. He himself fought with the first division during the Vietnam conflict and at some point in time had collected two of the lighters you just restored. I got one, his son got the other when he passed. It originally came with a display case and had a slightly different finish. But sir, you did a great job!
