Under Pressure è nata così».

They were too intense about their own work to be besties, but there was a lot of mutual appreciation between them. Also, Freddie's boyfriend/husband Jim was a hairstylist, and was the reason that David Bowie's hair was so magnificent at Live Aid. (He did Freddie's perfect hair that day too, and their good friend Elton John's. Jim had serious skills.)

    • I had the good fortune of meeting David twice but sadly no meet with Freddie, and for those that say never meet your idol as it could turn bad from your point of view, don’t believe it Bowie was so much more than I could of dreamt of in fact the first time was that David and co star were making a swift exit from the world premiere of Just a Gigolo in London and I was outside smoking and I didn’t know they had left until a limo pulled up next to me and window opened and Bowie leaned out and said can I get a light mate! OMG I was in shock so much so that I told him to keep the lighter! 😂 He said thanks and asked was I leaving early and I said no just have a smoke break to which he said do yourself a favour and leave now only it really is crap!!🤣 He was actually quoted on being interviewed about the movie as saying “Let’s just say it was all of my Elvis movies rolled in to one” He was probably right!

  • I have no idea how they managed to make such disparate voices work like this. One would imagine that Freddie's strident voice would clash or drown out Bowie's more subdued huskiness but it doesn't. They are both perfectly clear and they don't clash at all. They complement each other so well. And they both fit in with the music perfectly too. I don't know if it's artistry in the arrangement or mixing but it amazes me. Of course Freddie and Bowie are both so incredibly talented in their own rights, but this is still amazing to me.
