  • To Clemson's credit, their offensive line was AMAZING. Bama never got any type of pass rush on Lawrence. Bama actually ran the ball much better than I thought they would. Finally, Clemson's receivers were far superior than Bama's DBs. That was definitely one position where Clemson exploited the mismatch.

  • I know I'm going to sound like a big time Bama homer, but this wasn't a case of Clemson being a "superior" team to Alabama. Yes, Clemson was better, and yes, Clemson is an elite program. And yes, even if Bama punches it in at the beginning of the 2nd quarter for 6 instead of 3, they still may lose. However, If they would have made it 20-14, I think the game would have been one of those "who has the ball last" deals like the 2016 CFP championship. The game spiraled out of control big time for Bama with the errors starting with the missed PAT, the false start on 2nd and goal from the 1 yard line, settling for a FG to make it 16-14, and Tua's second pick of the game. I could live with Tua's first pick because Clemson just executed perfectly and baited him into that throw. The second interception was a HORRIBLE throw into triple coverage. After this sequence, Bama lost their poise and a great team like Clemson ate them alive.

    • For all the hype about how lopsided the final score is, Bama actually has many highlights here. They moved the ball practically at will - 23 first downs and 443 yards. They just didn't finish drives. Over and over they came up empty deep in Clemson territory. I still think Clemson would have won absent the turnovers, because they proved all night that Bama's secondary couldn't even slow down their passing attack. It got so bad that you had a couple guys in the secondary for Bama who just quit trying (in one instance very obviously), which was the most frustrating part for me. Still, without the late drive collapses it would have been a shootout similar to 2015 & 2016. Instead, the only shooting Bama did was into its own foot.

    • Yes. The most disheartening thing was seeing some guys give up. If you get beat, you get beat, but when a team makes you quit, that's embarrassing.

    • Richard Pierce Clemson was in control of this game. Their guys coming back for their senior years and not going to the draft paid off. Having Lawrence put them ahead for sure. Justyn Ross is going to be amazing in the pros and Etienne is scary good. That team was loaded to the teeth, but Alabama got all the press. Clemson’s defensive line was one of the top 3 best I’ve ever seen. That’s the reason their goal line defense was so amazing. Clemson could’ve made it 51-16 if they wanted to. That’s what is scary. First 15-0 team in D1 deserves some credit, even though I’m a Seminole fan and don’t tag along like SEC fans do lol

    • @@Jagnole101 Bama moved the ball quite well - 23 first downs and 443 yards. Tua's second pick opened the floodgates to Bama getting trounced. To Clemson's credit, their offensive line was AMAZING. Bama never got any type of pass rush on Lawrence. Clemson's receivers were far superior than Bama's DBs. Those were two areas where Clemson was just plain better than Bama.

  • This game was the result of a schedule that was just too hard to handle for Bama. Go back to the last 5 games and compare those - team for team - Clemson is not that good. Just wait and see this season. Over rated. I'm not making the claim clemson is not a great team. But, the hype is unwarranted.

    @davidyanceyjr@davidyanceyjr4 жыл бұрын
    • I disagree. The ACC is certainly a one team conference, but Bama's regular season was pretty easy too since the SEC is down and they opened against a terrible Louisville team. Clemson got an easy draw with Notre Dame, who proved again that they don't belong on the big stage these days, but Bama made Oklahoma look pretty average as well. I think we just have to tip our hats here. The difference was that Clemson played a really focused, crisp game and Alabama made countless mistakes. I also think Clemson was just a more complete team. Go back and watch Bama's defense earlier in the year - they had serious deficiencies.
