The Big XII Champion, #4 Oklahoma Sooners (12-1) faced the SEC Champion, #1 Alabama Crimson Tide (13-0) in the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the 85th Orange Bowl in Miami Gardens' Hard Rock Stadium. Entering this game, much of the attention had been directed at Heisman Trophy voters' controversial decision to award that prestigious award to Oklahoma Quarterback Kyler Murray in lieu of Alabama's Tua Tagovailoa. Murray won the award by a large margin, with 517 first place votes to Tagovailoa's 299. Moreover, Alabama had not defeated Oklahoma since the 1963 Orange Bowl, tying the Sooners in 1970 and losing to OU in 2002, 2003, and 2013.

      @nwgrizzlies11@nwgrizzlies113 жыл бұрын
    • I’m not a fan of either team, but the actual truth was the fact that Alabama better be glad that they started fast in that game. From the middle of the 2nd quarter until the end of the game, Oklahoma was the better team in that game. I think it’s about time that people open their eyes up and admit to the truth about Nick Saban as a defensive coach. That truth is the fact that Nick Saban is absolutely terrible as a coach when it comes to preparing a defense to play against an elite up tempo rpo based spread offensive system, Saban can’t stop them if his life depended on it !!! Now if I’m gonna talk about a game that the scoreboard didn’t tell the actual truth about, well it was without a doubt the 2019 LSU & Alabama game. Alabama got their ass whipped by LSU in that game, LSU drug Alabama up & down the field all game long. Alabama had a garbage time TD with 1 minute left in the game while trailing by 2 TD’s. Alabama scored off of a punt return, because of a face mask that spun the Alabama kick returner to the opposite side of the field from where everybody was at on the field. They then had another long TD pass because an LSU coach hollered something out on the field to the LSU defensive players. The entire LSU defense had their heads turned looking at the sideline when Alabama snapped the ball, the Alabama WR was 10 yards behind the entire LSU defense before they even knew the ball was snapped. LSU absolutely totally controlled that game from start to finish. Alabama honestly should’ve gotten beat by 30 points in that game by LSU. I can’t tell you how many Alabama fans I’ve heard say that it was only a 5 point game, with LSU being lucky that they won the game. Now I’m not an LSU fan either, but Alabama was never even close to ever winning that game. For example, LSU played a quarter’s coverage scheme in the 2nd half of that game, that’s the only reason why Alabama was able to move the ball in the 2nd half of that game. In other words, Alabama only moved the ball because LSU let them move the ball to shorten the game. They made Alabama to have to burn a lot of clock to move the ball, while giving them a little space in front of their defense to keep the clock rolling. Hence, the old analogy of shortening the game. LSU was playing in clock in the 2nd half of that game, not the scoreboard. I mean they had already proven that they could score on Alabama just wherever they wanted too !!! For anybody that actually believes that Alabama could’ve won that game, well than I say go back and watch LSU’s last 2 offensive possessions in that game when it was time for them to go on ahead and close the game out. LSU’s offense pushed Alabama’s defense around on those 2 possessions like they were a bad Jr. High defense, they totally manhandled Alabama’s defense on those 2 possessions, LSU literally drove the entire Alabama defense 15 plus yards down field on the play that they got their last 1st down of the game on to close the game out !!!! The scoreboard might have said 5 points, but that was far from being a real 5 point game. Alabama got manhandled in that game by LSU. Hell, Alabama never even had the ball in the 2nd half of that game with the opportunity to tie or take the lead in the game if they scored on that offensive possession !! Alabama wasn’t beating that LSU team had they played 10 straight games against each other that season, they were honestly that much better than what Alabama was last season !!! Now back to my main point from the start about the Alabama & Oklahoma game. The 2019 season was the 1st season that LSU used an up tempo rpo based spread offensive system, what happened in the LSU & Alabama game ?? Exactly,, once again it was proven that Nick Saban is absolutely terrible as a defensive coach when it comes to preparing a defense to play against an elite up tempo rpo based spread offense. It’s his Kryptonite people, it’s been proven time & time again. I mean Ole Miss just hung 40 on him this season using one, Clemson, Ohio St., Ole Miss under Hugh Freeze, Texas A&M with Johnny Football, Utah, Auburn every couple of years , right ??? Even in the games that they’ve won against teams using the up tempo rpo based spread offensive system, his defenses have hemorrhaged more points & yards than what any other defense in the country has !!! Like I said, I’m not a fan of any of those teams, as I’m just giving my unbiased opinion based 100% off of what I’ve actually seen happen out on the field. Remember, Saban has gone as far as running to the NCAA crying trying to get them to outlaw the up tempo rpo based spread offensive system, by claiming that they were dangerous to the players, yet that’s basically the exact same type of offensive system that he’s been using since the 2016 season or so his self !!!! Yep, the only thing the up tempo rpo based spread offensive system has been dangerous to, has been nothing more than to the perception of him being a defensive genius !!!! That 2018 Oklahoma game, was in fact a game that Alabama had to hang on towards the end of the game to be able to win it . The 2017 Georgia & Oklahoma game went into overtime, with Oklahoma playing with the lead for the majority of the game. The 2019 LSU & Oklahoma game, without a doubt Oklahoma got their ass drug in that game by LSU. Yet that was what LSU did to everybody last season, even their so-called close games honestly weren’t that close. I mean hell there’s not a single doubt one in my mind that LSU could’ve hung 70 or so on Clemson in the championship game had they wanted too, they were just that much better than what everybody else was last season, that’s just the way it goes sometimes !!!

A QBR of 43 and a completion percentage of 58% compared to the stub teams he has played against which he had 37 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, QBR of 97 and a 75% completion percentage. Before the snap he’s reading the coverages and decides he wants to throw to that person but doesn’t realize good defensive coordinators have disguised defenses. There’s a reason why Murray won Heisman. Murray proved himself against Alabama. A top defense. Tua played terrible against top defenses like Georgia and Clemson.

Since 2015 Oklahoma has had one or more players in the Heisman talk. I mean Alabama got their best quarterback in years and they think he’s the best thing since sliced bread. I mean the stats don’t lie. He underperforms in big games. Like last year in the National Championship. He tried to do too much on the play before he threw the game winning touchdown. • It actually would have been a good game if OU knew what they were going up against in the first qtr where they got slaughtered. After that it was pretty back and forth with the offense, but OU just couldn't make the come back

    • Sawyer Baltimore That’s no an excuse to lose a game like that and get physically beaten. Georgia wasn’t that great offensively as they were in the rose bowl so I doubt they run up the board.

    • What if Oklahoma's Defense was actually NOT good and you faced a TRUE Defense two weeks later? OU's Offense didn't play a fantastic Defense all year, jet lag happened and it took a while. Clemson isn't Oklahoma, Clemson is a complete team.

    • No pass rush for one and after first quarter they went away from slot routes, sideline passes, and corner of endzone passes. Clemson did very good disguising their secondary coverage in that game. Dabo is caught on audio telling his DC to do his f'n job. Our playcalling while yard productive was nowhere near as good

  • Alabama owned OU when it counted. 6 yard line and BAMA sits on the Ball 1:23 to play. 52-34 easily. Saban Class Act. Saban 2-1 vs OU as it should be. Twice when it counted and once (1) during a Consolation Game.
