Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a fantastic new year. Its back to work here at the chateau, with the start of the decorations coming down the diy work starts In the pink bathroom on the middle floor.
In one of our last episodes, Terry and Ash took down the brick wall behide the wood panelling and to make space for the shower pipe work.
After making a new false wall Terry treats the wood panelling before fitting It back on, and then moves onto working on the third floor salon.

We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.

Terry be careful with the shower over the bath, we had this in our cottage, but however careful got water everywhere. So changed it to separate shower cubicle, so much better than before x

Just a suggestion, but I’d really like to see some of the work. We totally missed that room being taped and mudded. Ash did a fabulous job and to see his technique would have been interesting. The talk and planning is all good, but the actual process of the work is why I watch.

With all of the new walls, ceilings and floors you're having to install, I hope you take the opportunity to make them square and level. My advice in bathrooms would be to take the opportunity to drop the ceilings by 4-6 inches and you can run exhaust fans out the wall, and run water and electrical lines to wherever you need them in the room and it will give you space to run electrical and plumbing to the floors above as well.

Make your own router table. Buy nice hand held router that you can use on the table as well. You will be thrilled with what you can accomplish. Put it this way I was.

Please paint that MDF with a water proofing material on its 'wet' side of the bathroom. Schluter makes a good one. Also please consider having your finish carpenter that reproduced your front doors reproduce the paneling on both sides where you blocked in the doorway between the salon and bathroom. Both rooms deserve full restoration if at all possible. After watching your video I was reminded of something I saw on Instagram that may help you with the dust problem. Take a floor fan and tape an air filter onto the intake side. As the fan draws air through it filters it clean. I thought that was a brilliant idea. You may of thought of this already. I never had and thought I’d share.

I’m curious Terry. When you purchase new wood, is it already treated for wood worm? I’m so surprised that half of the watchers aren’t subscribed. I want to know as soon as you upload😃 Have you learned of Osmo yet? It seems that would work wonderfully for the unpainted paneling.

If this is going to be a guest bathroom please remember that people with long hair like an adjustable shower head so that you don't have to get your hair wet from a fixed overhead shower every time you have a shower! Happy New Year to you all. 😎

This new video about fixing up the chateau pink bath: I’m concerned about your choice to replace the wood paneling in the shower area using the same wood paneling. Isn’t the water going to sock into the wood and cause more issues. Or maybe I’m misunderstanding how your going to protect the wood from water damage. PS the christmas videos were wonderful. Happy New Year, oh what 2022 will bring for you guys!!! Just a quick mention, as its niggling me, that root.... I know there is a fungus that looks like a root. You might want to give it a quick google, if just to put my mind at rest, let alone yours. You can then spray and treat if needs be, before you seal it all in
I do hope you manage to sort out the panelling, perhaps investing in a router and practicing on old wood you might find you can do some of it at least and not have to pay for all of it to be done. 🤞🤞🤞

Yes I was wondering about the chipboard in the wall as well. Shouldn’t you have waterproofing on the shower and bath surround.
