  • If someone told me a year ago that I’d be getting excited to watch Strickland vs Du Plessis for the middleweight championship as the first card of the new year… I’d probably think they were insane

    • You nailed it, I never thought this was the MW future either and I didn't think I'd enjoy Strictland this much but damn is he entertaining. Dude gives zero fucks and has no problem letting the world know. I find that interesting and intriguing and it seems that many others do as well.

    • I remember seeing Dricus early on, and he said after his win. "Remember my name. I am Dricus DuPlessis." The way he said it, and the way he handled himself, was unusual, you could tell that he had a special fighter mind. He saw bigger things for himself. I had high hopes for him until his awful Brunson fight where he slogged around and looked gassed. There's still no way to know which version of Dricus will show up, because we haven't seen enough of him.

  • If Sean DIDN'T walk down Izzy this wouldn't even be a question for me. Like others said, DDP's fight IQ deserves more credit. But the fact of the matter is Sean DID manage it, and so the question to me then becomes if he can match his training to suit his opponent-as I assume he did, training with Alex to beat Izzy.

  • DDP could go 5 rounds with the same pace, if not, he gets better as he goes on. Just look at how he finished Brunson after struggling in r1 and how he doubled his output against Tavares in r3 alone PRIOR to the nose surgery. This is Sean’s hardest fight in his life by far and I don’t see him winning in anyway whatsoever. Last guy he TKO’d without being gassed was Brendan Allen at the apex…. 5 rounds with Uriah Hall, Cannonier yet 0 punching power = a perfect fight for DDP. He’s going to do what Abus tried to do except for the entire fight, and he’s going to succeed. Heavy punches + takedowns + position for heavy punches & repeat. His KO win over Soldic was also the exact same way Poatan murdered Sean so he could even keep it standing if he wanted. I honestly don’t know how DDP isn’t a -300+ favourite

  • Many won’t believe me but though I did doubt Strickland I did not see him winning far fetched at all even had good odds. I knew he would push forward against Izzy regardless and unlike others not be afraid of any counters or techniques Izzy likes to use like that. And that front quick was the perfect way to do it. Also I acts wait for Strickland first defense dude is just Great and against the likes of dricus it will be a great fight at least in. My opinion. I hope Sean wins it and continues to take out a few contenders but we will see in due time. But I feel this is a great style matchup like many others. Would not be surprised if dricus won but I’m counting on Strickland pressure to go thru those out of no where power shots the fight I’ve been most hyped about in a while besides when Strickland went against adesanya and a few more. As always great content and can’t wait to watch your recap on the card

  • The main reason why Strickland won against Adesanya is because he’s mainly a counter striker and for some reason was overwhelmed by Strickland’s pressure. However, DDP is an aggressive fighter who moves forward, who is not gonna back away from Strickland’s pressure. On top of that DDP is a complete fighter, he’ll also take you to the ground and smash you Khabib style.

    • A complete mediocre fighter. He is big and strong and the ufc is not used to bumb rush fighting anymore. People are so technical they forgot how to brawl. That is the only reason he is finding success. Once anyone takes him seriously and actually watches his takes they will see the countless holes in his game.

  • I think DDP wins this, and pretty easily. Styles make fights and we saw that in the Strickland-Izzy fight. Izzy treated the fight like a sparring match and that’s right up Sean’s alley. DDP on the other hand will take the fight to sean and never let up on the pressure. He won’t respect Sean’s power and will probably eat a few shots just to get a chance to maul sean or strangle him on the ground. DDP has more tools to win fights then sean. Only way sean wins this is if he dominates the striking exchanges and makes the fight into a glorified sparring match, but I doubt it

    • Can I screenshot this and come back after the fight? Didn't you know Sean is black belt? That judo throw won't work on Sean. If DDP can't get it done inside 2 , then fight is in favor of Sean and I can see the 4th round TKO by Sean. DDP has an advantage in brutal strength, not in technique or anything like that. Can he knock him out? Of course. I think MMA fans are recency biased.

    • @@kggarkalns1358 go for it. Sean’s great if the fight turns into a glorified sparring session. He’s good, one of the better boxers, but that won’t matter the minute DDP touches him up. No one has been able to figure out DDP, and the one disadvantage he had, his cardio, he fixed with his nasal surgery. Dude was breathing at 7% capacity thru his nose and was still killin everyone. The one fight when he actually could breathe, he fucked up Whittaker, who’s a better fighter then Sean. Also, Sean’s chin’s isn’t the best. If DDP connects, it’s good night Irene

  • I was stoked when I heard the UFC is finally coming back to Toronto and was really looking forward to the card until they released the lineup and then I seen the absurd prices they’re charging for tickets, Wait years for them to come back and it’s disappointing that this is what they give us definitely not worth the price of admission, although I am excited for the main event

  • DDP had the high ground and saw Strickland coming as he challenged him to a fair one and even had the time it took for Strickland to ask Burns' daughter to move and for her to comply. And Sean washed him! DDP's doesn't have the defensive skills to deal with Sean's boxing. He made a mistake against Poatan, brought him in to train and looks like he's rectified that particular hole. I got 2 Big Macs on Sean Strickland. Lets fuckin' GO!!!!

  • Ready for this to be done with, it's got MMA media and wishy-washy fans foaming at the mouth. Everyone loves trash talk until they don't. People don't go far enough until they do. Sean's a this, DDP's at that. They're bad fighters. They're great fighters. Shit is so annoying. If nothing else, it *should* be a good fight. I can see Sean winning a dominant decision but I also see him getting clipped halfway through the 1st and choked.
