Crash Test Compilation 8 Luxury SUV 2024
SUV Crash Test Compilation 2024
-
The Lincoln Aviator, Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class and Volvo XC60 earn good ratings, while the Acura MDX and BMW X3 are rated acceptable. The Audi Q5 and Lexus RX earn marginal ratings, and the Cadillac XT6 is rated poor.
“It’s encouraging that more than half of the 2024 midsize luxury SUVs we tested performed well in our updated moderate overlap front crash test,” IIHS President David Harkey said. “The three good ratings in this group show that our new, tougher standards are achievable when manufacturers commit to excellence.”
These results are valid only for models sold in the USA

The test shows how well can the car absorb impact so as to reduce chest injuries on rear dummy, notice the pressure sensor on the torso, while at the same time maintain the rigidity of the car structure so as not to injure the occupants inside.
I have the XC60 and i love it 😊👌
For right comparison, X3 --> X5 Q5 --> Q7 XC60 ->> XC90 All models need to be in same class
전기차는 폭발의 위험이 있어서 실험을 안했다지?
All the models that were tested were about the same size though. I think the RX and GLE were classified as mid-size crossover SUVs and the Q7 and XC90 were both full-size models as they have a 3rd row and could seat people more comfortably, although the XT6, Aviator, and MDX come by default with a 3rd row. The X5 is also notably heavier than the RX.
@@B345T1N355Official they’re all midsize.
Excellent video, much appreciated. It would be valuable to have some quick notes/comments shown for why a certain rating was given. Perhaps arrows superimposed on the video stills to indicate issues, like a wheel intrusion into footwell, etc., as most point reductions are not easily discerned. Thanks, 🙏
What are the general differences between ratings? Hard for my layman’s eye to distinguish.
Probably there are sensors in dummies that measures the energy of impact. But to eye, you can see dummies jumping less and hitting their heads less in the safer ones.
Volvo driver: "Did you feel something?"
Volvo: They're Boxy, but They're Good.
I don't feel my wallet due to maintenance costs
don't exaggerate .....
they absolutely freaking felt that
Volvo and Mercedes have always been at the forefront of crash safety and still are. There were some pretty disappointing results in their but, that's SUV's for you.
One reason I drive an Aviator but also because it’s the best riding suv out of all of these, unless you like a brick ride and hard seats. I drove all of these, other than the Cadillac, and the Lincoln was just more of a luxury car the way it drives and the stereo. 4 years with no issues is just a bonus.
I agree. I have the MKX which is the previous Gen before the Aviator. Love the seats. I had driven a VW previously and the seats were so hard I still don't think my back has recovered.
Good to see london in the list
You cant compare, eg a GLE Mercedes with a X3 BMW, it's totally unfair. Try an X5 instead and see how things will change.
So what is totoya doing in this test?
1. Почему разные классы? 2. Во всех авто все выживут. Что хорошо. 3. Вольво отработала лучше всех, есть ощущение запаса прочности. Переднее колесо не ушло от геометрии сильно.
4:33 GREAT JOB VOLVO! My mom has a 2019 XC90 and I feel immortal in that car.
When does the Judge Dredd foam come out
Well done BMW Mercedes-Benz and Volvo . Disappointed Audi
I saw a video like this of an A4 sedan (the older model, ca 2012). Man the whole dashboard came flying towards the front seats, crazy!
They must have changed the criteria of the test then? A few years ago, all of these would have been best picks.
i'm not even surprised volvo is the first one with good ratings 😅
Love my Lincoln Aviator. Happy to see it received the highest rating!!
Were you one of the lucky ones that didn't experience the onslaught of recalls the Aviator/Explorer had, and continue to?
@@fp5495Right - unlike many of the vehicles in this test. I’d take my chances in the Lincoln over the others.
There's a reason you don't see those (or any American car) in Europe. Even the Alabama built Mercedes SUV's have poor panel alignment.
Aviator owner here and have yet to be disappointed. It’s an incredibly smooth ride and just feels safe and comfortable. It would be hard to switch now
I was one of the lucky ones because I waited until the kinks were out. It’s noted the aviator relaunch wasn’t the best, but they made it right for sure. 🇺🇸
Oh and once again Volvo infamous for the lights and hooks flying out of the headliner when the side airbag goes off
We can see here why crashes are so lethal, even if we have top safety measurements in place. Look at the side windows, they rip apart from the sheer force of stoppage. You can imagine how lightweight that specific component is and how much placement is in place when it rips apart. Rear passenger is injured 100% of the time when front crash happens. Neck overextends so much.
How did the Merc get a good rating when the "kid's" hand flew out and smash it's hand against the C pillar of the window? View 5:35 of video
Cannot believe most of these vehicles received a Marginal Rating on the Moderate Overlap test.
Almighty Lexus “marginal” the almighty reliable, I’d rather be safe with a Volvo, bmw n Mercedes rather than focus on reliability with a Lexus. SAFETY FIRST! Life is important
If u have GLE than bmw needs x5 , audi q7 and volvo xc90 to make this test fair ....btw i think Volvo xc 90 is the only car or suv in the world with 0 deaths since its launch
actually 0 deaths in America, i have seen some deaths and one video was horrific the volvo xc90 packed and it was said than the lady who was driving was more than 190km/h and hit a big tree
@@winrarwin754 190 omg well thats too fast even for xc90
BMW and Volvo TOP !
This is my wife when she sees a sale. 😂
😄😄😄
some cars' seatbelt don't even hold the passengers tightly on the seat.
Do they fix them afterwards 😂
Cuando pagar seguro
Guys the bmw x3 got a good rating
interesting that the cars with pre tensioners did the best the major of the low ratings are bc of submarining of the seatbelt so if they add pre tensioners it should bring them to a good rating
5:45 what is that
Volvo and mercedes is good things, but the price not in same class
💎 Each item showcased oozes elegance and sophistication. The attention to detail is unparalleled, making it a true embodiment of luxury.
Okay, AI bot
@@fp5495Wow, I can see from your other comments you bring a lot to conversations.🥱
Say goodbye to the kids hand on the GLE. Good?
Swedis cars: Saab and Volvo, have a holistic view to safety...
@@serenan920😂😂😂 Are Saabs even produced anymore?
They open the window for the crash test, meaning if it weren't open, that likely would not have happened.
Not really sure where your classifications come from. Totally different from all other test results done by government and insurance companies!
Как по мне ,все авто прошли на отлично. Есть параметры которые нужны,для тестов и учета оценок,но ни как не влияющие на безопасность.
Volvo and Mercedes has always been my favorite when it comes to safety
Why no infiniti tested?
Different classes of cars. Mercedes should be a GLC model. Lincoln has a Nautilus model. And this turns out to be a not entirely correct comparison.
Tell me someone how ratings it’s work?
In simple terms, watch how many G forces are put on the test dummies. An easy way to notice this is by seeing how much they move around during impact. If you notice, as the ratings get higher the test dummies move around a lot less, especially the one in the rear.
Acura the best
Lincoln and Ford are the best.
For the most recalls in North America in 2023? Yes, not doubt, Lincoln and Ford are the best. Agreed.
@@fp5495Ah ‘most’ and ‘best’ are two different adjectives. The best for the most….hmmm.
The best at being the worst, obviously. After all, they are built in the USA.

After many videos watching with crash car testing , the best car is RAZVANI SUV TANC WITH ALL RESPECT FOR TRUTH AND KNOWLEDGE
My heart is beating fast bcos of new car crashing
I heard that They crash 1 car everyday at volvo for safety test
Though the Reliability of Volvo XC60 and MB GLE are questionable....

為何不研發在前座椅後方安裝氣囊,連動後座的重量感應器,當後座有人時打開氣囊,減少後座乘客頸部甩動的傷害。
1.) Cost 2.) Ford use to make inflatable seatbelts for the F-150 limited prior to 2021 I believe. Not sure if they ever really took off though
3) front seat can move, making the air bag either useless or dangerous in many cases 4) baby seat in back seat with infant could make air bag lethal
audi q5 like anti infantry mine, dropping very small plastic details in every direction, even people near can be injured
How about Citroen
Not sold in the US Market.
@@MBG141And given away in most other markets.
Why only 40mph?
Because that is the Average speed for most cars.
It is mostly deadly after 50 mph
Because that is the average speed for cars, and usually anything much higher than that is pretty deadly, no matter how safe the car is. I believe above 60 MPH, you are basically playing a game of chance.
Man where is Genesis
Hummer h2 ❤
Mercedes 💪
Volvo 4 ever ❤
It’s sad GM doesn’t make safer cars. I wonder if they intentionally decide to cheap out on safety.
Just safety? I almost feel sorry for people who choose to drive government motors.

Where is Infiniti
벤츠 GLE 후석 더미 팔이 창밖으로 나가버리네
Hand picked models to show unfair results. Good to see ppl in comments recognized that
Still going to pick the Lexus!
Keep er under 40 then
The Mercedes passed the test while the left hand of the dummy child was clinging outside of the window.... what money can do.
That can happen to all of them, but Mercedes was the safest one in the test
Volvo …👍😉
Poor Cadillac

LYNNE BANKS TSHABU 200
Mercedes beat Volvo. Always have, Volvo is a very close second
Really? What video were you watching?
@@worrywart1311they both were rated good, but in my opinion I feel the passenger in the back of the Mercedes was slightly more stable
The Mercedes GLC is the comparable model to the Volvo XC60 and not the Mercedes GLE. GLE is comparable to the larger Volvo XC90.
Lexus gets a crappy rating 😂 that’s how you know they’re not 1 for safety
Lexus are pants now...can't make brakes, either. Would not drive one for free
In my opinion, they also look super outdated, especially in the interior.
Mercedes Benz safe car
Sponsored by VOLVO.
How did cadillac do poor but acura marginal
Did you watch the video..? Cadillac did poor because it literally crumbled😂not surprised. Acura was acceptable and if you can’t see why then keep driving your Hyundai

So what is it based by,when most of the cars look the same atthe end of the test. I didn't think the Caddilac looked worse than a lot of the others. Can u tell us what the rati gs are based on. Surely not by what the vehicles look like
@davidd1692 yeah didn’t make sense to me either

Volvo is the best premium car ☺️
Most unreliable brand around😢😢😢
Too much movement, risk of secondary collisions.
@Charlie1776_ it is not a german car, so dont worry about 2nd collision 😃
You correct, but In any country that temperature not exceed 40c° , come to middle east and see what's happening here , and also see how big failure are our retailers services after sale for parts and maintenance pricing.
By a long way..Bought first Volvo...Far better built than any German, Japanese or Korean car
Lexus RX for the win
And now there is Kia EV9 from the "poor mans brand" getting same ratings or topping all of them in certain areas. Scoring full 5 stars and in side impact getting maximum ratings.
Volvos are the best in terms of safety
우등생 볼보
Crappy video showing different classes of cars!
Volvo XC90 was made almost ten years ago!!!
This test is biased!! Bmw got really damaged, yet got much higher ratings than other cars that withstand the hit much better.... Sorry, no thanks
Volvo ♥️♥️♥️
They all look the same
Welcome to modern car design
LOL, Ford had to make their cars more crash prone because their large SUVs have abysmal driving dynamics and most likely couldn't steer you out of harms way quickly enough. Even the new Bronco gets criticized for feeling heavy and truck-like when it's the car industry's goal to mask their cars weight with good driving dynamics. Ford, instead, will give you extra weight in the front end for when you off-set crash your fancy Lincoln Explorer. Let's not even get into how Mustangs can't keep themselves from fishtailing into ditches like it's still 1989.
Lexus ? Not even close to Volvo 😂
