  • The funniest part of this is Kendall claiming that she cooks in that kitchen. Girl, we have seen you use a knife.

  • Sidenote: We don't put art over the bed in California due to earthquakes. It's a good way to get hurt or die in the middle of the night. I agree, I was a bit surprised by the decor of her house. It doesn't seem to fit her vibe. I narrowly escaped disaster during the Northridge quake. For some reason, I was restless and slept on the sofa that night and it hit very early morning. My bed had the art above it on the bed, the tv on the opposite wall, a lamp and the shattered shards of glass from the bulbs in my vanity all on the bed. I would have been hurt for sure had I been in there. It was my first big quake since I'd arrived in CA so I learned after that how to protect myself. lol So, I'd guess that's why there's no art above the bed.

    • I don't live in CA, but was thinking the same thing. Years ago I'd heard or read about it being a safety issue in case of an earthquake. Makes sense.

      @md61211@md612114 ай бұрын
    • You are so wise to be cautious! After an entire lifetime in California we recently moved out of state. The earthquake mentality is ingrained. Even though they don’t happen here I still push things back on the shelves and feel sketchy about hanging glass or heavy pictures over the bed. It’s definitely a thing.

  • When I first started as a hairstylist, just out of beauty school, my first boss told me if you give the customer what they NEED you'll be successful but if you give the customer what they WANT, you'll be a millionaire. I feel like you can't impose too much of your own taste onto a client. They know what they want and you just have to make it work for them.

  • The downstairs clothing area was for samples and packing. She gets a lot of samples that come on racks from her stylist and she picks from them what she wants to wear or take on a trip. She gets compensated for wearing certain designers because every time she wears something, it sells a ton for the designer. So that's what that other area was. She doesn't actually own those clothes per se, what she doesn't want to wear just goes back.

  • I think her home is very well put together and creative , I’m also an interior designer and antiques dealer I’ve been into antiques since I was like 8 I’m 43 now so as far as you thinking it’s “ strange” for her to like old things but wear new expensive clothes Is hilarious to me I mean should she be wearing an old Muu muu like Mrs Ropper on threes company 😆? I believe your home whether your a millionaire or a regular person should reflect what YOU love and brings you joy , ohhh and I thought her closet was cool, very colorful and spacious and I’m sure not her only one, all in all I’d give her an 8 outta 10, but here’s my little critique what’s up with that enormous teal zebra 🦓 stripped chair you sat in ? • The sink looks like the troughs my grandparents have in their rural farm in Belgium for the horses and cattle to drink water from. They have an old fashion well that they pump the water into a similar-looking one, but much bigger. Some designer must have sold her on ideas of what is "cool" to have and she said OK to everything. Now the house is just a mishmash of different things that may be expensive, but just somehow do not give you a cohesive look or feel. I think she can use your help to get it together.

Instead since I have beer dreams on a tapwater budget I'll have to make do with my veranda. But on a different topic . . . your set! Thank goodness great grandma had good taste. For some reason I've seen designers stating that the chairs and tables should not match, which I think is weird. Non-matching is for my tableware and art (oil painting and Chinese painted scrolls).

  • OMG. Most of the furniture looks like it came from a thrift store or from yard sales. And maybe most of the art did too. The neon sign probably didn't cost that much. Probably the first thing we saw did cost a little bit of money, but... it's very possible that most of it really wasn't that expensive. Even the outfit could have been a used ebay find or something. And the bed and patio furniture - were probably just custom made, and that entailed sewing together a big bean bag out of upholstery material and then buying some cheap foam mattresses to stuff them with. I would imagine the house was expensive, and I guess some things were, like the faucet in the kitchen sink, and probably the tub, even though it is a garish color, so it could have been on sale... but, I bet after they bought the house they didn't have enough money for furniture. I hope that's the case and a "designer" didn't actually rob her blind.

  • I actually love how Kendall's house actually feels homey unlike most of her family's homes. I also think it reflects her vibe really well if you've ever really watched the show - Kendall is very much a homebody and has a lot of anxiety, so the cozier, less modern aesthetic fits her IMO.

  • I love layering rugs, but 1. It doesn't work in her dining room, either the rugs together or in the space at all. It's too casual. 2. The "warmth" she claims it brings could have instead been created by bringing in a set of matching upholstered chairs.

  • You were criticizing her first closet, but you were not paying attention. That first closet is where she tries on different looks for her jobs. It’s not her official closet. You couldn’t even get her name right. I like the fact that she designed her house in a way that it appealed to her without being pretentious.

  • Living in California, there is one thing that most do not do, and that is too hang something on the wall behind your bed & that's because of earthquakes. Of course you can make sure and double bolt & secure it to make sure it wont fall, but just for my peace of mind, I myself don't have anything hanging behind my bed. Too each his own, but I absolutely LOVE everything about this house.

  • Yep you’re correct. I hate those pans. I always look at something on “how do we keep this clean” that’s why I hate vanities that are open underneath. Same with those cloud couches. I never buy a couch without pillows being attached. They get sloppy and old looking fast. And please that bathtub, gross. Chairs if you are going to mix them at least have the same texture whats with that outdoor woven chair being there?

  • Phoenix! Anyone from Los Angeles will NEVER put artwork over our beds. My friends and I realized we just don’t do it cuz we are all PTSDed by past EARTHQUAKES. If there is a big one, that could happen at any time..that artwork is on our heads 😂.

    • as a Chilean (we have way more earthquakes than you guys, lol) it depends on how you hang them! I've never had issues with artwork falling, even after the big 2010 earthquake, which was 8.0 on the Richter scale. I do have a frame over my bed very securely hanged, but I don't have anything hanging over my daughter's crib. What you for sure don't want to do is have shelves with books or other stuff near and/or over your bed, and of course keeping the glasswear and fancy plates in the bottom shelves of the kitchen.

And also she's the quietest and closed among the sisters, so I think it really matches her personality, not staged imho

  • Great architecture! Beautiful light. Those couches look like someone tucked fabric (leather?) loosely around an old couch...that goes all the way to the floor...? Odd. That rock sink looks like you have to LEAN way over it to wash your hands and make sure not to catch your silk - or nylon! - fabric on the sink or else you'll come away with pulls in the fabric! Wtf with the neon sign. On the other hand, to me, that seems more her, than farmhouse - as you say. Agree that the bedroom is dreary. It does seem like it's a mish-mash of styles - which probably makes sense for someone in their 20's who's still trying to figure out who she is.
