Rich people can afford impractical design because they have house keepers cleaning daily. Most regular people care about beauty and practicality. Love seeing these designs anyway. Most are lovely
my great aunt had a fireplace in every room. i really loved it but she lived in a colonial home where this was a staple in the design. i think its really useful when you live in a cold climate area to save on your gas/electric bill, but I don't think this has the same meaning when you live in cali and its hardly ever cold.
The moment I saw the chequered floor I knew this was gonna be beautiful.
I really like this kind of video. Watching an open house video can be boring (unless the owner has a great sense of humour), but it's more interesting when you have a commentary (from an expert of course) like this. Anyway Mr Grey, you don't have to do celebrity houses only, there are a lot of beautifully designed houses out there you can do a commentary on
Thank you so much! I will defiantly be taking that into consideration, and looking into more houses to review :)
@@mrphoenixgreyDefiantly?
That foyer really is beautiful
Beautiful home and great presentation. I think the reason she had so many fireplaces was that would have similar with so many Georgian style homes, since that was their main way to heat a home.
The powder room is too dark for me. I love brightness and color. Ms. Paltrow doesn’t do housework so she wouldn’t consider the dust catcher.
This is very true, its easy to have this amount of detail when you dont have to worry about cleaning it yourself!
I am not a huge Gwyneth fan but I like her house especially the spa bathroom! The one thing I didn't like was the sculptural hanging lighting in the bar/ living room
The asymmetry is homage to Japans ideal of wabi-sabi the Ikebana arrangement on the table is gorgeous! I love asymmetries it allows for flow, However I agree with you I don’t like the entrance its forced. wabi-sabi also believes in usability, and functions you can’t create imperfections that are beautiful you have to find the beauty in the imperfections that a given- the entrance is a good example of wabi-sabi-otaging lol
Love the way you’re able to critique elegantly. Overkilled it with fire places. The dining room is a confusing: office vs eating space?? The spa is my favorite and love the swing chair ❤ Excellent video!
I like her mix of hard, soft, contemporary and old world. Just very charming and fun!
Wow… your analysis is exactly what I thought of when I saw this room tour originally, the lux yet extremely livability’s factor is spot on! The foyers fireplace off centre and that extra stand distract that gorgeous hero of centre table and wabi sabi vase. That private spa space is heavenly… well done to her and her architect and interior designer.
I adore checkered flooring I’m having it in my new build house. (I project managed) My Powder room is going to be black. This is weird I’m having that tree wallpaper too ☺️ My hob is in my island too. I don’t get all the wires in the lounge 🫣it looks like the electrician hasn’t left. The Spa 💕
I'm building a new house and having my range in the island, facing the great room, was a must. It was awesome to see a designer agree.
GRRRRRR Love your take on well everything . Thank you for the honesty without being a total B word. Looking forward to your future videos. Love from Canada
That means so much! thank you!
Every room is just beautiful. The foyer feels a little stark, but it's still beautiful. The china in the kitchen is gorgeous, but i pity the poor soul who has to dust it. And that wallpaper in the dining room? Holy catfish, is that gorgeous. ❤
Im so glad im not the only one! and yes; when you have that much money you have a whole team of people cleaning for you! haha
@@mrphoenixgrey Right?? All i'm gonna say is i hope she properly appreciates these folks who work so hard to protect her investment.
Such a fair review I agree with so many elements- I found the fireplace in the entry way misplaced and the one in the dining area unnecessary I thought it was just me. I loved the kitchen fireplace but the ladder Is awkward. Overall loved this home great review
I love how Gwyneth Paltrow designed her home. I immediately thought the same about the fireplace in the foyer before you mentioned it. Thanks for another great video!
Just start following you and love your videos, can't wait to see the next ones !!! greetings from Switzerland 🙂
New to your channel, love your input! And love your little clips inserted ( they are funny and just perfect) not to much!
You review is spot on. I follow you on TicTok and glad you are on KZhead. Not only do we need the long format, it’s also nice to see your pretty face❤
I have my hob in the island too, for exact same reason! So many people put their sinks on the island which I think looks messy. I want to be facing and interacting with my guests and family as I cook ❤️
I know it can be sometimes more expensive to have the gas to the island if you use gas, but so worth it.
@@mrphoenixgrey bora induction hob with a downdraft extractor.., also expensive but sooo worth it!
Get real. She likes food, but I doubt she ever cooks. She doesn't clean. All the choices are rich people choices who have staff to dust the wallpaper, put away the shoes, and pre-cook the meals you just heat up before your friends come over.
You can tell she doesn't cook in this kitchen because the island is too far away from the counter to be usable.
I do love the ambience of fire during a dinner party!
Whoever does your editing does an excellent job. It really adds to how you’re feeling 😍
Thank you so much! I have the best team working with me 🥰🥰
Love the house, and her ❤
Wow this home is magnificent ☺️😍
Defiantly would not be upset if I got to go to a dinner party there! aha
Do Nate and Jeremy house and Athena Calderone 😊
adding to my list :)
Love her house so cool and cozy at the same time
Omg!!! Thank you for making this video. Bits and pieces of the AD video started popping up in my feed but I have a hard time watching and listening to that woman. With Design Daddy, I was able to get thru it!!! Lol!!!
Hermes plates are beautiful, bit blue and white has never been my aesthetic! Unless I am inheriting pieces from my Nordic ancestors ( which is not my heritage but is my husbands) they will Not be in my house anywhere!
This is a "beautiful home" only by american standards. She didn't grasp much by having lived in Europe
Now please do a review of all the AD celeb homes lol
More to come, stay tuned!
Omg I’m so happy that I’m following Design Daddy. This post is the best of any design commentary on GP awesome house. I’m from England and stately homes do have fireplaces in every important room as they were very, very cold buildings.
Thank you so much for watching 🤍
What a spot on critique. I agree with everything you have said regarding her design. Daddy!⏳
I ❤ this house. But unlike you the master bath is very stark. And those floors are a accident waiting to happen water and those slippery floors don’t fly for me. Yes I said stark but it looks very clean but one thing that would be nice is some greenery and they’re almost like a greenhouse effect I mean that’s just my opinion. Don’t care a lot for her but I think this house is really nice. I could live in that house and I have to agree with you about the ladder in the kitchen. It’s very practical as far as trying to get it to the higher cabinets, but it would get in the way for the lower cabinets. Plus it’s kind of bulky , but it looks good.. Paltrow house appeals to me 13:16
An amazing home and a very interesting analysis ❤
The wall paper style in the formal dining room reminds me of the wall paper used in the homes of early 19th-century homes in the south -- for example, Andrew Jackson's home. The attached rolling ladder in the kitchen, is a French interior design style, no?
Dakota Johnson’s mid century home please
Adding to the list!
About the front entrance. Do the stair(s) have a handrail? No matter how they look, stairs without a handrail are barbaric.
Even seeing into cabinets for me like unless someone is constantly organizing it which she has would be a fail for me.
I LOVE her home. Gimme gimme gimme. I love the fireplaces and pretty much everything about this home. That spa…….O…….M……G!
Carl lagarfiled house in paris
Hey !!! love your video...from Singapore
Thank you for the love all the way from the other side of the world! I really appreciate it
I was not expecting that clip to accentuate the dust comment 😂perfection
Yes wallpaper is classic!
Not crazy about the girl but I must admit she has good taste
Lol I don't know why, but when I saw that spa it reminded me of celebs telling us that "it's hard" during the covid lockdown. 😂
I must be an old fuddy-duddy, but I detest "playful elements." On KZhead, I have heard other designers and homeowners point to something atrocious and say proudly that an item or feature was added "for a touch of whimsy" when they should have said "from a touch of tipsy." Homes should be beautiful and peaceful, never fun and certainly not funny! Thus have I decreed, and so shall it be done! 😁
I love that wall paper in the dining room. Now I want that in my entry.
Frankly I am disappointed there’s no fireplace in the spa area 😉
you certainly don't see a lot of fireplaces in Europe -I have no ides what she is talking about maybe a French castle ? as a European I have never seen that ever and I have visited quite a lot of castles -common people certainly don't have that most have 1 if any fireplaces in their home , very rich people might have 1-3
The house echoes.
The acoustics in that house is terrible. Imagine trying to have a conversation. Sigh.
It's a lovely home. Not at all to my taste, but it isn't my home so that isn't important. It's still lovely.
Didn't really expect a moist appearance here LOL
The candles always being sold-out is done on purpose, to make it appear they're in such demand.
She is definitely going for the fake old home. The fireplace in the foyer does not look functional. I can only take so many fake fireplaces. I like old homes, but I don't like obviously fake homes. I love her spa bathroom. Gimme gimme gimme!
I didn’t see the fireplace in kitchen, yes when we used my fireplace it was to chill, even if it was once the only heating element in our late century Victorian!
It's a stunningly beautiful home, but by God it's cold as ice.
Was all ready to be up in arms about the fireplaces - in older houses you do have some heating mechanism in each room. However, then I saw the kitchen one and went ehhhh WTF? no fireplaces in the kitchen, makes zero sense as the heating mechanism there would be the same as you cook on.
Yeah I think she was mixing old school European design with the fireplaces and her new simple aesthetic!
The SPA is breath taking ..
Tim Roth, if it is possible 😊
I'm gunna look into it :)
Very nuveau riche, everything made up to look older than it actually is. The only statement this space is about is that the inhabitant pays someone else to do the dusting, washing and cleaning. Imagine the sound of those fancy plates shaking, flying off the walls and breaking into a million pieces when a serious earthquake hits the house. What a waste of money.
When they show the house they are gonna sell it. The live doesn’t go deep.
I wonder about art inside tge moldings?
Антураж и окружение хорошо ваше Gwyneth но вы прекрасней ..прекрасны my princess 👑
I love that range - we have a big beautiful gas range, too. I wonder if she’ll tear it out and replace it with an electric one?
its absolutely stunning, and I cannot even fathom the cost of it. haha!
Victorians put fireplaces in the every room……
I was coming to make this comment. This is not abnormal to have a fire place in every room and I don't think it takes away from the room at all unless it's done poorly.
@@catherinewalker7877 In California? Definitely abnormal.
...but this is hardly a Victorian home.
I still have my live love laugh gold Che m from the 80’s.
As much as I love your reactions, the mere thought of hearing Ms. Disconnected speak on any topic is a nemesis to my digestive health. 🤮 👍🏻 anyway
A fireplace in every room is not to many. The more the better.
The whole layout is bad, disappointed actually. The kitchen ladder would be so annoying when entertaining a bunch of people. The bar in the living area is giving me 70’s vibes. The fireplaces aren’t attractive. it looks like they hired a different designer for each room.
Who needs to see her home.
Looks like hotel .
Держите меня трое .. а всеравно я люблю Gwyneth
Please do Dakota Johnson's AD Home Tour 😍
You always bring up the clean-ability in your videos, these houses aren’t getting used like mere mortals use their homes. It’s ALWAYS form over function when architects (archi-torture) are involved. They also have people to clean, so there is never any build up of dust, dirt, etc….. I’ve been to Gwyneths home in the Hamptons (Amagansett) and that home is so Beautiful! She had the most beautiful Swarovski cherry blossom chandelier by Tord Boontje, that was in 2008.
I really love your commentary on the designs. But, is there a way you can show more of the spaces as you are speaking on the spaces. Thank you
Gwyneth has lived a life of privilege, protected frim harshness in every way. We don't have to hate her, though. She seems to have given in to her friend about the celing lights and her other friend about the kitchen ladder. sure as god made little green apples she will trip over that thing while carrying a bubbling cauldron of spaghetti sauce with ground turkey, mushrooms and garlic. Don't hurt yourself, Gwyneth.
А ванную можно было бы из графической рисунков сделать ,простит , впрочем красиво как будто из ручья бьет источник у ванны тоже красиво!
I remember the first time I saw this video and my jaw dropping when they showed that spa
A literal dream! I wouldn’t ever leave
Luxurious spa room without one window is a sin.
The skylight helps, but I know what you mean. A view out would have made it 🔥
I do love her home
Sorry, but those weird ceiling fixtures in the living room are the exact opposite of "cozy."
phoenix. Love your name.
I liked the house and that surprised me.
She has great taste and style. Loved almost everything that was shown except the hanging rope lighting.
1 earthquake and those hermes plates are dead....
Omg I never thought about that. But they are in California. That’s going to be an EXPENSIVE insurance claim ☠️
A foyer (a place where you make fire) in a foyer. Hmmm, interesting, to say the least.
Absolutely not. Foyer has nothing to do with fire, it's a French word deriving from the Latin word focarium, which means focus / focal point.
Native speaker... unlike you clearly
European here. We do NOT have a fireplace in the entryway!
The oven as a style element... 😄 The bar looks like tombstone
🕯️✨👅✨😂
I have just never liked her
She has good taste. It's a lil too look don't touch but so is she lol I've noticed that people's homes really do reflect their personalities, whether they want them to or not. Sloppy ppl live in sloppy homes, wear sloppy clothes and have sloppy lives, Orderly people have orderly abodes and orderly clothing and orderly lives. It just be that way.
I liked her house, it's not my style, but it's stylish
Brad is frim the UK too? He doesnt have any accent. I like her.
Masonic hallway gorgeous
She is fairly well spoken, albeit boastful, for a woman who never attended college.
Wouldn't the hot plate in the island mean hot oils will splatter out onto guests and the floor there's no back splash which the purpose is in the name.
Aaron Paul’s house. I dream about that house!
