    • That's Trump's MO: Lose in court, keep appealing until the other side (small contractors) runs out of money & gives up, or the other side (government) wins, but it's so long since the original trial that it gets little if any mention in the media. And now it's keep dragging this out until after the election, in case you win & can squash the cases. And the SCOTUS he packed is now part of his foot-dragging. The American legal system needs a schedule or something so rich defendants can't pull this stuff.

    • Most of the court belongs to a society that is very Authoritarian. Politics in the Judicial branch are different to the Legislative branch, fewer elections for example, so they have different political groups. Some of these groups believe in things like Precedent, while others believe in things like Originalism. Some of these groups believe in a weaker Federal and State government, while others believe in... well, more Authoritarian views. Some will argue parts of the Constitution are meaningless, poor 9th Amendment being the most abused, while some of them have a deeper respect for the document. This is why the 1960-1970 Supreme Court gave us the likes of Roe vs Wade. This is why the 2020 Supreme Court overturned it in Dobbs v. Jackson. Mitch McConnel knew what he was doing when he stacked the courts over the last 20 years, especially the Supreme Court. If you look at what organizations his choices came from, they share the same societies for a reason. Those societies are the political parties of the Judicial Branch and Mitch was aligning the Republican party along side one of the most Authoritarian societies. The Federalist Society now has the majority. So how could they not hear a case as powerful as this? They can change the whole course of the government with this! Might even destroy the softer societies with this move, such as those that gave us the 1960-1970 decisions. This is also why they are hitting the other 9th Amendment cases hard, publicly salivating at the chance to overturn them as well. They hope to get rid of the 'rot' that led to a Supreme Court that believed in such a silly thing as... privacy and reproduction rights.

I'm never learning anything from media coverage on this guy. No matter how entertaining the people who covers news on Trump are, it is ultimately a waste of all our time. We have far more important and even fun things to give our attention to, but Trump's pettiness is an apt reflection of what has always been a staple in American culture. Kind of darkly hilarious how so many problems in America would be solved if more people could detach from pettiness. So many simple solutions right in front of us

The workers were paid as little as $4 an hour for their dangerous labor, less than half the union wage, if they got paid at all.

A Public Authority can audit police and prosecute bad cops in our own courts. Nationalise resources and give Indigenous peoples the right of Sovereignty over them as Guardians. This can be achieved through a General Strike or Velvet Revolution, much like the Occupy movement, peacefully occupying State Buildings until a People's Mandate can be implemented. With the appropriate checks and balances, you could have a national digital forum where qualified professionals can debate the issues in a public setting without all the disinformation and bad faith antics, hatespeech etc. Any vote would need to pass the 70% threshold, with a veto or _rewrite_ vote needing 30%. The issues would be debated, the public educated, and then a vote taken. Votes that fail will have to wait a year before trying again. Any new proposal (Citizen Initiated Referendum) would have to reach a threshold of support before it made it onto the register. This would be subject to a Social Contract (New Constitution) that forbids human rights abuses and discrimination. That can be written in the same manner based on the core principles we all share. Councils and Boards could operate in the same fashion at Scale. It works in a way that obligates people to better educate themselves ( that is to use logic and evidence in their reasoning ) for a better understanding of the issues, and then take collective responsibility for the outcomes. As opposed to the divisive US v them scapegoating and bi-partisan finger pointing the current Capitalist Pyramid Scheme runs on. We need Government by People's Referenda, either through Mascot Candidates or Peaceful Occupation of the Capitals until one is established. Make it an annual event on Oct 14

Should this president get away with it? I bet the Supreme Court would cry out loud: No, a president should not be allowed to get away with such a decision with impunity. Wanting to guarantee absolute immunity to a president is absurd and undemocratic.

Thus, in essence, knowing that's the situation, more and more of our candidates will seek elected office already assuming it will be a criminal enterprise, and they, themselves, are more and more often simply criminals posing as concerned citizens. George Santos is a perfect example. He came onto the political scene fully knowing that it is largely a criminal grift needing only a certain gift for acting to fully exploit it. He is not that unusual.

    • Govt by People's Referenda: Peaceful Occupation of our Capitals until it's installed, or run Mascot Candidates Single Issue Referendums with thresholds and a social contract means Communities can vote their own laws.

And his supporters in the court figured that if they rule that the President has Absolute Immunity, not only looks bad for the court, but also gives Biden the freedom to do whatever he wants with Don the Con.
