2003 BMW Z4 Roadster 2.5i | More Than a Successor to the Z3 | Full In-Depth Review
As BMW stated in their introductory press release; “The new Z4 is a modern interpretation of all the classic roadster features - a long and sweeping hood, a long wheelbase, short overhangs and a low seating position in a cockpit that is set back. The design of the car is all new and characterized by the intriguing interplay of convex and concave surfaces, hard
edges and curves. This interplay of surfaces creates new transitions of light and shadow from every angle, giving the Z4 an eye-catching visual character.”
I think Car and Driver said it best in March of 2005 during their long-term test of their Z4; “The word "strange" comes instantly to mind when you look at the BMW Z4. What else could anyone think of the odd collection of lines, bumps, and creases woven throughout the body of this roadster? It's not pretty, nor is it ugly.”
Replacing the outgoing Z3 Roadster, the Z4 was introduced with all new styling and sheetmetal, and designed to be a much more comfortable and performance-oriented updated version of the successful roadster that James Bond drove in Golden Eye. First introduced in July 2002 as a 2003 model, the Z4 actually was being styled and designed in 1998, with a design freeze in 2000. The Z4 featured a more stiffer chassis than the Z3, while still retaining the MacPherson strut front suspension, but trading the outgoing semi-trailing arms for a more responsive and controlled multilink suspension.
Just like the Z3, the Z4 is built at Plant Spartanburg in Greer, South Carolina. Our first year E85 Z4 was built in October of 2002.

    • I m about to buy one. The V6 engine is rock solid if you just follow normal maintenance. schedules. He said it s neither pretty or ugly. In my mind it s one of the prettiest cars created. It s subjective of course. Especially in black or grey it looks great. For me the beige color interior isn t my cup of tea. I ll buy a black one with black interior as well.

    • @@oscareriksen2240 The only thing I'd make sure aesthetics wise is, to get the bigger rims, i had the stock smaller ones and it looks like hanging clitoris. also i much prefer the pre-facelift taillights. they are way cooler

    • @@iggswanna1248 Yes. I agree. Absolutely. The stock ones are too small indeed. Thankfully the rims are already 18 inch. New ones, bought last year with new tires as well. I met the guy I will buy it from yesterday and did a test drive. It s a bit of a distance to me so the car will be shipped. But, the car is awesome. Even a better experience than I imagined.

  • there is a way to present information and then there is a way to present information (pick up a few pointers from Doug Demuro) good overall video even if it lacks any enthusiasm
