“We haven’t got any service history but we have got a locking wheel nut and some sun cream, so it isn’t all bad is it” … absolutely classic Matt… hilarious 👍👍😂😂
It's a heap
Plus a Pointer Sisters CD 😂
Oh Matt your in the news … the sun lol
Lovely stuff.
21 years old, and still eyewatering beautiful. With this enginesound, you don't need to turn on the radio.
It's a piece of german rubbish
That is the M54 engine. When it runs fine, it is one of the best "speakers" on the road. Mine are 2.5L with low mileage 62k and love it.
"Eye watering beautiful" is stretching it.
The two seater sportscar id have is the Honda S2000. JDM you cant go wrong
Not interested@@shaunsowter
The sound of that engine 😮 glad to see it lives another 🙏
You haven't heard my volvo 😊
@@chucky2316 always loved that era of 3 litre straight sixes I am with on the 5 cylinder sound 👍
Induction sounds are really awesome here
Shakespeare wrote a number of plays in 1597 including The Merchant of Venice and The Merry Wives of Windsor.
The quality of mercy is not strained, it droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven.
The gentle rain drops from heaven”…..as long as the roof works!
You need ur pound of flesh in the car game😅
One of the best threads of any car video, well done!
Good result! A straight six sounds so good! Talking about valeting have you tried a can of tyre foam cleaner to clean the engine bay? Warm the engine a few minutes switch off then spray the entire engine bay including engine. Use all the can around £5 for a tin. Then close the bonnet. The next day open the bonnet and be prepared to be amazed! As the spray is designed for cleaning rubber tyres all the rubber piping gets conditioned and becomes shiny new. Just try it !
Buying a cheap bmw is like marrying a stripper.. Looks great, exciting but deep down you know its nothing but trouble!
That's half the fun 😂
😂😂😂
@@brunorodriguesmaso I'll stick with my MX5 ND2. 185bhp is enough for something that light, the handling is the best thing this side of an Elise, and I know it won't present me with any horrific bills. Oh, and it won't leak, either!
But a whole ton a fun man
Strippers are disgusting
Very happy owner of 2004 Z4. My father sold it to me with 18,000 on the clock only two years ago. Immaculate! I will never need any more car than this as it's got plenty of power and performance to get you in trouble. The styling was about 20 years ahead of its time as it looks very current now (moreso than when it was introduced).Simply a great fun roadster! Pick one up if you can! You will not be disappointed. 👍
What a scummy father
Sounds awesome. I hope you enjoy it...👍
The styling was based on 1930's art Deco so you are very very wrong more light 70 years behind its time....😉
I really hope he sold it to you for $1.
A father selling a car to his son lmao what a society. Here what my father owns is mine, what I own is his and someday when I have children they will own what I have.
Nice to see a BMW with the best engine and no goofy grill.
I used to have the Z4 3.0si coupe, which has an extra 30 bhp. Brilliant, rare beautiful car. Should have kept it! Enjoyed the video Matt.
I own a Z4 and in my opinion they are criminally underrated. You’ve got a lot of room compared to a Miata and the engine is just magnificent. So smooth and good sounding. With the NA Miata market skyrocketing here in Germany, the Z4 is an amazing alternative.
The internal space is only good for the smaller man. If you’re 6ft 7 like me you will struggle for legroom. Bad form from the German since they are tall on average.
Criminally underrated is an understatement. It's completely forgotten. Stepchild of BMW.
@@sonof69star Has its own forum. In fact a couple. Still loved.
A 3l BMW for £1500. Lots of potential for a massive overspend
I love the smile on your face when you put your foot down, what a car!
Absolutely love the Z4 especially the 3.0, sounds amazing,
230 NA horses in a 1290kg car. 👌
It's a dossers car
@@chucky2316so how many have you had then ? 🤔
Shame they don’t actually sound like that anymore though, my mums got a 19 plate one and it’s as quiet as a mouse 😢 except if you’re sitting in it…. It ‘makes the sound’ through the speakers 😭💀😂
@@VioletMoonDesigns Engine sound through the speakers is horrible. I don’t understand BMW does something so cringey and fake but they do. The B58 engine (i6) doesn’t need any loudspeakers ‘enhancements’ though in my opinion.
Possibly the best car for a couple of grand. Still looks modern and pretty, sounds awesome due to having a proper engine, RWD, manual… what’s not to love? Glad you didn’t massively overspend either! I fancy one now to pair with my M140i 😂
My dad had one in black. Superb car to drive around in. Brings back some memories.
M54 is a super reliable, bullet proof engine. These cars are very well made. Best era of BMW in my opinion. Had one of the facelift version with the N52 engine, which is also very reliable. Again, incredible cars for the money 20 years later.
Hi Matt Another fun video! Great. I never thought of putting the heated passenger seat on for ambient heat..top tip ! I was just thinking don't rev a cold engine then you said it! I hate being predictable:( Love the ice cool hoodie colour. Take care Tony
Your friend got a deal of the century in my book! What a car! Still as beautiful today as when it was released over 20yrs ago.
Lovely straight 6 sound...
It's a beauty. Good video, as always.
I thought this video was rather dull, but when you pulled out the pointer sisters video, I got so excited 😂, keep up the good work Matt 😀
I admire how you call yourself a loser and sad but you're definitely not, Matt. You're an enthusiast. The part of the vid seeing the old Plymouth blue range rover zoom by and you immediately knew what it was. I can state all my previous car numberplates and my parents cars too. Now that's REALLY sad 😂. And in no way useful! I'm also good with identifying headlights, tail lights and wheels to identify cars. What has my life become haha
Another great video mate 🔥
nice one matt.... looking forward to the next car 👍👍👍👍
Hey Matt, you brighten up yet another rainy day in Hampshire….love your conversational style like I’m in the car with you…thanks again
Thanks 👍
I'm new subscriber been watching loads for couple of months and absolutely loving ❤️ the content and what a BMW lovely machine me and the wife love the content thank you so much 😎😊
Sounds nice matt and with a few quid spent on it on the wheels and general touch ups your mates got a bargain and hopefully looks after it great video matt 👍
All ways good to watch !!
I’ve just one and it’s absolutely brilliant. 3.0si with sound generator mod it’s deafening when you get past 5k revs. That’s a non xenon but they have spec’d headlamp wash.
Loving the consistent uploads! Getting close to 400k!
I agree this is such a Gem. Great video, buy and little profit Matt! :D
Good job, Matt 👍 And cool car as well 👍
The BMW inline 6 engine is the one have imo. Perfect balance, reasonably compact (compared to a V8), just 1 bank instead of 2 (vs V8).
Lovely job Matt 🚘🚗🚙⭐️⭐️👏👏👍👍
I had one of these, same model but in silver. Lovely car and the design is ageing really well.
Lovely stuff..not my words Matt..the words of Shakin Stevens
Always had a soft spot for the Z4, Love the alloys. I think I would go for the coupe. Especially living in the driech west coast of Scotland! Love the video. I would have kept it till after the summer. Great vid.
Love that car. Need something like that in my life..... Another entertaining video....
I needed, haha, to come here... great stuff!
Central locking always dies. The relays in the central module need replacing but are soldered in alas. Check the drains at the back of the sills are clear. Roof in these is excellent. I have the early 2.5i as does my mate. The early M54 sixes are much less hassle than the later N52s.
come on man, here in my country a 3.0i one is about 8-11k euros with a VERY HEAVY yearly tax too 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 my dream car.... the UK's used car market is too good to be true
Very cheap here in the UK, if all the issues had been sorted it would sell for about £3,000 maybe even more. I have a Z4 and my yearly tax is about £400, the tax on petrol is even worse...
Are these 3.0 ones fast? Quite interested in getting one for my second car lol
@@cruiseedwards4657 unfortunately i can't help you, I've never been to one. The 2.2 that a friend has, has good torque from first up to third
Another good result 👍
When I was 21 in 2007 I bought a 2003 reg 2.5i for £14,995. Had only done 19,000 miles when I bought it. That thing was epic travelling round Scotland.
Wow, living the dream... 👍
@@Bikeops2021not sure if that’s sarcasm or a compliment.
@@stephenmiller251Lol, that is meant as a compliment mate, I’m not a dick!
@@Bikeops2021 no worries, was a fantastic car, stupidly I traded it in for a 54 plate Mazda RX8.
Cool… I always fancied an RX8, they had the rotary motor if I’m remember! Nice looking care tho…👍
Had a 3 litre coupe and ran it for three years on a 2008 reg ex demo , took me all over europe and enjoyed it very much, never had any problems it was just services only plus tyres , overall it was a good car with fun factor built in.
Happy ending to this one 😀. At the start I was sure it was going to end up on your forecourt for £4500 to include £3k worth of very recent service history and a trip through the demi monde of Greater Manchester's indie BMW specialists. I'd happily watch that video too .
Short & sweet quick flip 👍👍👍
Another great vid Matt. It was the grin when you put your foot down! If a car can do that to you, buy it or get another....just for fun...you only live once....
Z4’s look pretty with the top down but are no oil painting with the hood up. Good video, thanks Mat.
Nothing like a High Peak Auto's video to digest the Manchester Darby ❤😂... amazing video
Depends whether you are roof down Red looking to swallow some flies or roof up Blue trying to hide you glee. Hope the Z performs better than we did yesterday.
Absolutely love my Z4, same year, same colour and engine!
Look out the window and make sure its still there.
@@andyb190 Yes it is!! 🤣
Is it fast?
@@cruiseedwards4657 definitely fast enough for me!
@@cruiseedwards4657 Yes!
My old gaffer had the Z4M In this colour it was stunning he part exed it for £7k......madness great video mate
I have an ‘03 330ci sport manual, owned it since 2012 with the same M54 3.0 engine - great engine and sound
I have an 07 coupe version of the z4 - bloody love it - it's glorious! Shame you didn't keep it!
I've had all iterations of the Z4 and currently have a 20 reg MSport 30i - I love 'em! You should have kept it - like you said, a lot of car for less than 1600 quid! :)
I bought a 2003 2.5 e85 in Japan last month. It arrived with a CEL, rough idle, and some oil leaks, clunky bushings etc. luckily no mold though. They’re good cars for the money.
Why does a bmw straight 6 just sound so right!? Great video as always 👍
I bought a Z4 3.0si Auto ( facelift model ) just to go to the Le Man 24Hr six years ago .. Super smooth engined car .Same wheels , one had a crack ( common ) so swapped for CSL reps . Durham Dave moved the roof motor .
Love the Z4, underrated.
Awesome video
Thanks!
I love them so much I’ve had 4 of these from the 2.2i to the 3.0i
You could take it on a road trip to Venice, I did it in a convertible in the summer one year and it was absolutely fantastic, stop overnight in a hotel and then burn back
They still look fresh. Your friend who bought the car got a great deal. So much car for the money. Can I be on your list of friends?!Something fascinating in taking an older car, a quick refresh, and potentially another chapter in the car’s life can be written. I hope he makes some memorable trips in it. 👍
Well done ur a car Guru now in the sun newspaper ❤
Sounds great!
Hi Matt Nice video as always. Intrigued by the car vertical reports… how often does it flag up an issue of significance for you to put you off? Really enjoy your contents. All best Laurence
I love your reference to Borat Mat, with your "what type of dog is this?" comment every now and again in one of your videos. It's my favourite quote from that film! ❤
I feel these, along with the Z3 have got better with age. Hated them both when launched. Now quite like them
One of the best cars I've driven was a 2007 3.0 Si coupe. Fantastic handling and a lot of fun.
ive got a 2.5 litre 5 speed version, not as well liked but not had a issue, had the motor for the roof changed and moved to the boot, 72000 miles and a 2005 its a great wee car
I have the same car, a 2004 Z4 E85 5-speed just love it. Solved the roof motor issue moved into the boot, and gave it a good clean, what a great-looking car still eyecatching over these 20 year.
You should definitely get one Matt. 👍
Wonderful sound from that engine.
Had a z4 myself for a bit, but went off country road here in US and popped back tired and into the ditch it went but not to much damage at first glance, but when they got under it at the BMW dealer having bought it used they found a lot of issues at 8000 dollars worth according to them. And yes the lovely motor in the boot worked for awhile then stopped and I tried to replace which was a pain in the.................. It was nice car though for driving around and commnets I got on it. Love old MG's though but rust buckets here in the US mostly and expensive. Thanks for the memories Matt. Have a good one.
I'd imagine most of that cost is just the US being the US and charging extra just cos it's a BMW 😂 old MGs here are also pretty much all rusty unless it's been restored at some point. Although even restored ones can also be rusty depending on when they were restored. I saw one up for sale and it had been restored in 2001 and was already having the rust creeep back into it. Unfortunate really
Lovely looking BMW that is and as you say Matt doesn't look aged at all ,engine sounds beautiful!
I'm surprised you didn't take it to Spain , cheap runabout for you , the idea is OK but I don't no about costs etc , Cheers mate 👍.
In-line six > V6. 10 times out of 10. It’s why I had a TR6 once upon a time.
As a Z4 M40i owner, I wholeheartedly agree.
150bhp Lucas fuel injected I trust.
@@peterforrest5181 It was. It was a 1970 car. I still miss it.
Fantastic that you turned a profit and hopefully someone will enjoy the Z4 for a few more years.
I love this Z4 and the previous Z3.
Had one of these, best cure forcthe roof issue, is to cut the bottom of the star type drain tubes from the roof cavities, then they wont clog and fill with water.. Motor service kits are available, and not hortific to do, but not easy.
Hi matt great wee BMW, was worried about the oil smell, from marty in Belfast northern Ireland God bless
Does sound lovely with that 3.0 engine 👍💯
Cracking car and cracking story!! Nice to see it find a new home.👍👍
I wish you’d done a job on that one. Sounded incredible.
That engine noise 😍
It still looks modern after 21 years! Bargain at £1950 😮
I am a very big fan of the 1st generation,love em🙏🙏🇬🇧🇬🇧
These E85 Z4 are just stunning and look exactly how a classic roadster should be. 6cyl and manual box please.
Hi Matt. That was the only sensible way out of the car really wasn't it? The other road would have been longer than expected and much more costly! Good result.
Your mate did all right 👍
Do you think the guy who owns the van known that you are doing a video and leaves it there for free advertising Its always parked there LOL Enjoyed the video as always thanks Matt
Good outcome - if you divide the modest profit by the even more modest time it took....
It's like watching the television. You are that good.
Thanks
It sounds gorgeous 😊
Nice one. Cars in the Uk are so much cheaper than iin Europe! This would cost twice as much here (Netherlands) if LHD of course.. You forgot to mention that BMW in-line sixes over 2L are the best engines there are, together with the good old Jaguar 4.2 in-line 6. You can;t get any sweeter running than thhat 😄
Makes me want one, sounds great .
hey looks good cheers steve
10 deg C is a very cold winters day in Australia.
a good cheap DRIVER`S car for you or someone matt . it will never be a minter but it`s bound to put a smile on someone`s face
That engine noise is fabulous. Proper. That gen of Z4 has really grown into its looks now and I love that era of BMW dashboards and dials. Everything is clear and simple. Now we have to pipe in pretend straight-six noises and hope nobody notices while they're busy configuring a baffling digital instrument display 😂
I saw the grin on your face as you accelerated the silky smooth 3l six , I know I did
Hi Matt. Great vision as usual. Just wondering when you buy a car why do they end up in that same car park and who brings them there??. Keep up the great content. 👍🚗
