I showed the video to my grandfather, a mechanic for more than 60 years. He loves these videos. The old man is 98 years old, and he spent the entire video crying.
I cried too at the fact that given the conditions, that engine will need another rebuild at the end of the street.
stop making shit up
@@hugolafhugolaf You must think that all these people are completely stupid to do the same thing again and again and fail.
😂😂🥲
Probably because of all the effort being wasted when it isn't done right? Dry fitting parts isn't smart move, even some grease would be better than nothing on the main bearings They fitted new Lanchester shafts and bearings, looks like they guessed at timing though?
With the money they just earned they should by a torque wrench, then the next rebuild will last twice as long as this one ✌️🇬🇧
ช
@@gags730 H&S is a foreign concept t them. Their way is “if it’s my time it’s my time” end of, and “might is right” is another I believe ✌️
Bro the money they earned is just enough to provide food on the table for their families. Not like u and me living in the western country where we take things for granted and who cares about the fucken torque wrench, they got the job done without any fancy ass tools.
@@eagleeye566 yeah the money “they” earned only just gets them by, but the money the boss earns….🤦🏻♂️ I’m wasting my time aren’t I ? ✌️🇬🇧

That's where your "Cat Genuine Reman" engine comes from
Amazing work by these gentlemen! I would love to see the longevity and performance specs of a motor like this compared to a motor rebuilt with proper tools and torque wrenches. Interesting comparison.
Bet they last longer the a rebuild done in a American shop....these guys know what they are doing...when your hand grinding the journals with paste you care about the tolerances.that showed me all I need to see to know these guys are legit
Nothing like Building an engine in a sandbox
U laugh but thats how their made in sand casts
Indeed it will never need another rebuild at least in 10 years
Nice job. Calibrated elbows doing the torquing.
@ 7:30 Not even a drop off oil?
That’s the only time i ever seen someone put a engine together without using any oil
Then look again with your glasses on. Oil was squirted on all moving surfaces before assembly.
I guess they do the best they can with what they have. Congratulations to them…

Shame they didnt oil the mains
Really enjoyed your video. Tremendous respect to that group. I'm sure it's a family business. 👍
Every worker is fantastic, the conditions they work in are grim, they are great people, greeting’s from Grandfather Pete , from France 🇫🇷🙏👍👍🫶🫶
I had job title of 'Site Service Engineer' for several years, those conditions could be a lot worse. At least they don't have to carry a shovel to dig things out of snowbanks. All in all though, it was a lot of fun most of the time but I didn't like the driving so much (around 75,000 miles a year before even starting work)
Love the young man in there getting his hands dirty, learning something worth it’s wait in gold, nice
Interesting no assembly lube on those crank bearings... Or at the very least motor oil... Anything... sweat, spit.. anything! Just not dry.
They use all that sand as a lubricant lol
around minute 25 they do use some kind of muddy oil to lube this thing
going to ruin the bearings when they fire it up, they dont even clean the parts
The moisture from the desert air is lubricant
Great men congratulations from Peru....good teaching de litle boy!....good work! Eng. Juan Calle
I love to see the responsibility given to the young apprentice - carefully checked by the 'Boss'.
This is fascinating. The workman/journeyman/apprentice system working flawlessly. This kid will have a better paying job in the years to come, then he could ever know about now.

Wow……from clean room conditions with automated high tech equipment to do absolutely everything to performing ALL procedures by hand on a dirt floor . Proof positive that there’s more than one way to “skin a CAT”…….😊
except engine wont last more than 10k
Yes there is, Catch a Cat slit a small slit in it's skin and stick an Air Hose with a tube to go inside the skin, It will skin most animals in seconds, That is how they skin rabbits to save their skins.
Or kill it
@@monera9675 'Industrial' engine life is measured in hours not distance although I've seen quite a lot of equipment with broken hour meters. You are right though, it will get no where near the 1200 or more hours it should.

17 toes were smashed to bring you this video
But all the flip flops survived 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I was really impressed when the boss-in-blue showed up for the technical parts, especially the (500 mile warranty) valve-job at the 11th minute. I could write a book about the incredible pre-lube job that WASN'T done on this sad engine. But these guys have children to feed, and they are only doing what they're told to do. So, Salam Alaikem, and good luck to all of them.
Some of the best so called pro rebuilders of engines and trannys in USA have a 15% + failure rate, even with clean conditions. So go figure.
They are doing there best. The machine works perfectly
Mamoo
This is how we worked during the middle ages in Europe
I wonder how safe these people would be if that were a jet engine that was flying them over the ocean. This video was not sponsored by Catapillar.

we may say that their technique is crude. but they did the job and people keep sending those engines to overhaul to them. that means is a job well done. congratulations. with only simple tools, they managed to do the overhaul. and it runs great.

I have only one comment: they're doing an amazing job, but they need to learn about sequential tightening of head bolts or crank shaft bearings. Anyways: hat's off to these guys!!!.
Why???? you see it runs well... We are way to precise.... This works remarkably good as you see, and it probably wil work fine for years,,, Its not to our standarts, But it works there! lol
they are also in need of a torque wrench, crazy to see them tightening down all the bottom and top end and going that feels about right. combine the 2 and you know these guys have had at least one of their engines fail due to a bolt coming loose and causing havoc.
Fantastic tolerances: less then 2 fingers.
Give those young guys some proper tools and equipment I bet they fit in just fine over here. I’ve done what they are doing in the bush many times in the northern Canadian wilderness no options up there either a lot of the time.
First thing we see engine head in the sand nice
Not the longest life expectancy on these engines. However I’d give them credit for doing all this work with whatever they can get for tools 👍
This is infact a Ford assembly line
My car mechanic here in santa cruz, ca, graduated from the streets of Karachi. He owns a Goodyear franchise now, almost never a bay free for too long, pays $6,000 / month rent for the building.
This would be a great spot to drill for oil, and other toxic chemicals that have been poured on to the ground for over 50+ years.
Hey Amazing Things Official; How about a follow up on how long this "rebuild" lasts.
Well, I am impressed, that's what i call all hands-on deck like. literally everyone had a hand or two on this rebuild.

I always admire your work... You and @pakistantrucks inspired me and i started a youtube chanel
Great hands, young boy very hard working
Nice coordinated work, men
Dry bearings? What do you mean torque specs ?
My sentiments exactly. Not to mention no checking of bearing clearances or ring clearances.
@@oh8wingman Not using genuine Cat parts. Take your chances. Probably the Cat parts would be very expensive.

What do you think Bacon Rhine is used for?
Better put some motor oil on them right
Now I'm sorry & must eat my harsh words. They did lube everything except the crank main bearings. And the engine DID sound nice and smooth. Congratulations and God Bless you & your families, from S.Louisiana.
Gosto muito dos vídeos deles...
Never knew cats came with sleeved blocks from the factory
I may be slave labor, but that kid knows more about engine building than most mechanics in America....
I would love to see a picture of all the extra parts when they’re all said and done.
it runs perfect at the end in my opinion👌
These guys should set up shop in America America, I am certain they would go places
Great Job
Nice coordinated work, men... 🇺🇲
For those who think these guys do a crappy job, I would like to remind you that they manage to keep up and working equipment that is 40, 50 or even 60 years old.
yeah, barely
Their torque wrench is one grunt for tight 2 grunts for super tight.
The gaskets appear to interlock like jigsaw puzzles when installing so why does the gasket 21:57 not lock together?🤔

Very good Job , congratulations! Brasil!!!
When he drop the block on the floor 😂😂😂 I say boi 😂😂😂
I just came for all the expert comments 🤭
Excelente trabalho 👏👏👍
Working were they are this works for them! If you did this where I worked we would run you out the door! The cam bearing in front oil holes go parallel to the bottom of cyl. block! They put the front support bushing back on and it is worn out, should not just slide on! No one pulled the oil galley plugs to clean the main oil galley, so how much shit is in that bore? Sorry, but glad it works for them!! Like the piston ring compressor though! Some one took an old liner and tapered it, got lots of those!
Good jobthe Only mistake is dry fitting the bearing
Excelente vídeo obrigado 👏👏👏
Hello Amazing. Sure hope the fly wheel bolts need 200 ft lbs, because they got it. Would have been nice to see the crank bearing surfaces lubed, most others were. That nuclear waste poured into the coolant passages to loosen the cyl liners was nasty. It worked though. Kinda horrifying to see it wind up on the ground. Better hope you guys are immune to all the evil chemicals in that dirt. Scary stuff. Looks like that engine will work for years more, you got it done. Not pretty but good job anyway. Good luck.
No worries, Allah is in control.
And we are banning plastic straws, while these guys literally dump everything on the ground. topkek
This is done Old School. No Wimps Allowed.
Interesting compressor.
Wow speed handle must be big time shop .
I'm impressed. But I don't understand why there was no cylinder honing.
The new liners were already honed

I have two torque wrenches in the garage...3/4" and 1/2". I think what they have is called a reefing wrench. Reef on it until it don't move?
Cleaning at its ultimate
Screw anyone that says the USA pollution is bad
The clean countries have 6.5ft 12yo children. You can see the pollution too.
Those upper liner seals are supposed to be oiled so they expand and seal. They won’t otherwise. I guess reading isn’t one of their skills either. Gotta hand it to them for team work though.
Respect
9 months that's how long that engine will last before it either rattles itself loose or snaps internals. Torque figures and lube specifications aren't just pretty numbers. That and as mentioned in the comments no lube on the journals/bearing etc
Yeah a torque wrench wouldn’t go amiss. Saves that annoying knock that’ll have after less than 50 hours on her. But hey that’s how they always got work rebuilding em 😅✌️🇬🇧
See how carefully the Camshaft was dropped in😂
@@stephenwest9757 “dropped” being the operative word there 🤣😂👍✌️🇬🇧

Wow, nice again, first time I've seen a monkey wrench (Cresent) use by these super experienced mechanics, lol, oh well, like the other dude said, torque specs? Just tighten it till it strips, then back it off a quarter turn.
