Your accurate assessment is lost on those who don't know better.
I've done some questionable rebuilt practices during my youth when i was broke AF...... but dang.... the list of no no's here is endless.
these boys need some lasers and sandblasting tools...but totally amazing work, I'm blown away.
My favorite part is when they power wash the oil and grease off right next to the river.

@@danhard8440 Maybe the oil and grease is "in their blood" and that's why they can remember where to put all those bolts.
Not a micrometer or straight-edge to be seen. It's a Daewoo miracle!
That stuff is for people who second guess themselves
@@bobobrazil1973 or for people who want to be accurate? why would using a straight edge or micrometer mean that you second guess yourself?, the saying goes "measure twice cut once" and can be used in many respects
torque is a impact gum..kkkk (maybe is counting clicks)
But they do have feeler gauges and a torque wrench.
No clearances checked either.
You should not let oil flow into your water when cleaning engines. it contaminates the water table.
You are obviuosly very talented and motivated technician. Showcasing your skills in not the best of settings. I hope the right person or people will see what I am seeing in you. May health and prosperity come your way.

Good job, using old engine oil on a restored engine is not good and the engines are screwed together on the ground, I wonder how long these engines will run before problems arise again. But there are good videos.

No oil on assembly on the rings and pistons....... No assembly lube anywhere...... Dry start up....... Can You say ruined engine ? Sure. I knew You Could ... ( In my best Fred Rogers voice )
Don't get me wrong I Loved the video ! ! and the Diesel did run so it's not all bad. But my first attempt at rebuilding a motorcycle engine was a two stroke Yamaha 90 and it didn't go to good just because I used no assembly lube or oil. Started, ran for a hot second and that was It

Ok, for all the folks slagging these guys. How many of you have rebuilt crap with a pair of vice grip, a screw driver, electrical tape and wire. My favourite part was washing all the crap into the river.
Since it looks like the crank was not worn to bad. Oil pressure will be just fine.
Nice how he washed all the pollutants into the earth instead of onto a sand base and desposed of them correctly,,

Uh…..so it gets torn down and cleaned with dirt. Then it gets reassembled as a worn out engine full of dirt. This is not restoration….. it’s destruction.

New rings gapped = check New bearing tolerances measured = Check New big end bolts = check New cylinderr head bolts = check Sea trails = ere ..... no thanks 😂😂😂 At least the torque wrench did eventually come out to play 👍 And to cap it all, a quick lick over with overhauling paint 😂😂 P.S where is the turbo ?

LOL, uses hammers and pry bars is probably not the best thing for the engine. A real Torque Wrench is probably needed as well. I would not have tested the engine without coolant. The engine might last another 5 miles after its put back together.

if you use a screwdriver to break your head loose. Diesel engine or not. You're a bad mechanic. You use a wide surface so you don't trench your mating surface. Sometimes you do what you gotta do, but not with all the room in the world like /that/... Using a screwdriver? Really? the power tools at the start and the dropping of fasteners into a bucket said enough. What a hack.
