  • Seems like torque wrenches are unheard of in that country. Loved the way he was blowing that sand all over including into the open ports of the injector rail. Having worked on engines for over 40 years that place is scary.

    • I am sure that Cummings would like this video for training purposes. of how NOT TO REBUILD an engine. No honing the cylinders and checking for taper, regrinding the crank as wear marks are clearly visible , and the state of the art valve grinder , finally torqueing down the head bolts. If you don't have the right equipment and experience to do the job correctly to factory standards then go find a job in a rice paddy. Sure glad this engine is not used of an aircraft.

  • Who needs a torque wrench, its tight enough. Lets just wash all this oil and dirt into the ditch over there and no need to set valve clearances either. What was that diesel fuel on the main bearings, no wonder it look a little hard to turn. No need to lube the cam either lets just slide that on in there. We paint it and send it. It will be all right.

    • I get it, work with what you have and make do. Not everyone has the nicest tools and spray wash cabinets, boring bars, and Sunnen hones. But in all the videos I see of these rebuilds in Asian countries and in the Pakistani Truck channel where they rebuilt engines too, it’s never one guy carefully assembling the engine. It’s always like 3 or more people just attacking it and putting it together as fast as possible. You spent the time to wash it all by hand and scrub it super clean, which I must commend you cause it appears like you did a good job. Hopefully you brushed all the oil galleys off camera to clean and clear them out 😉. Why not take a little time and let one man, your best and most knowledgeable man, do the assembly? Mistakes happen when you rush and 3 people can’t always know/remember what the other guy has or hasn’t done! For that matter, just to give a guy some space, heck the one guy was climbing up all under the dudes armpit to put a bolt in, 🤦‍♂️. That’s the one thing I have to have when I’m rebuilding engines, space and nobody yaping around me. I need to concentrate on the task at hand! But for the most part, you guys did a good job. You guys knew how to take it apart and put it back together, so I’m sure you know you should be torquing bolts to spec and doing other things “by the book”, but we also know as mechanics how to just “get it done, and make it run” with whatever we have on hand! 👍🏻

  • This engine will vibrate itself to pieces within hours. Who cares about torque settings when you have a half ton of sand around when building.

  • Nothing kept in order. I like the way they compressed the valve springs to drop the collets back in. What is it that happened next, that we were not supposed to believe ? That they painted it green ? or that they ended the video without letting us hear it run ? I recommend watching this on 2x speed. Great job guys. I hope you didnt have any bits left over :)

  • A “flooded” engine? That and that much sand in the intake suggests a marine engine that was in sunk boat. After that rebuilt, I’d be pretty concerned about reliability back in a boat.

    @sunny71169@sunny711693 ай бұрын
  • I didn't see these guys use one bore gauge, micrometer or torque wrench. Also why the hell reuse the bearings? This thing was under water at some point and the wise thing to do is replace all of the wear parts, not just the rings and sleeves, which you did not show but I hope were pre-honed to spec. This isn't even close to a pro rebuild! I predict problems in your future. Still, I liked the home-brew ring and spring compressors.

  • Oh dear : measurements, tolerances, torques, assembly lube, methodology. All wrong. KZhead is full of material on how to do this properly . In essence they just cleaned and assembled an engine without any attention to the important processes.

    • You’re forgetting the pink elephant in the room in regards to this engine. This is a third world country you’re dealing with where all safety regulations, tolerances, assembly, lube, and methodology don’t exist. I’m really surprised that you didn’t pick up on this. There’s a lesson to be learned in everything in life. And the lesson here is on how NOT to do an engine rebuild. Follow all local, state, and federal laws in protecting yourself when rebuilding an engine. Also invest in a Chilton’s motor manual for further reference in rebuilding said engine

      @jonathansparks3386@jonathansparks33864 ай бұрын
    • You're confusing rebuild to original mfg specs with this make it run until it doesn't again level of quality, where these guys are at, this is considered a rebuild..if it runs it's successful.!!!

    • @@jackspringer9283 got your point .. but I think I’d prefer the internals of the engine untouched and just have the outside jet washed in that case..

    • @@jonathansparks3386 I didn’t think the work was being conducted in Beverly Hills. Some third world engineering is carried out with great improvisation and creative talent with little first world resources to hand. I’ve seen it in person The irony in this clip is that the very tool used to post the video is the same tool that provides access to the methodology to do a satisfactory job with limited resources . I’m Surprised you didn’t pick up on this . Happy new year to you.
