  • Ninh explains, - The Rules of Squash. Find out how to play Squash here. By the way, I think that this is a superior sport to Tennis and it's a shame that it's not an Olympic sport.

Me my self been looking to learned about this games especially the rules yet to no avail (formerly, n clearly explains) until I found this channel of yours, and since then from squash its been one sport after another that I looked for a brief intro. Thanks for the contents, its been a great enjoyment so far.

    • Ninh Ly Yes, most definetely. I'd love to see in the Summer Olympics because it would get a lot of new exposure and the location possibilities nearly endless!

      @DanTheCaptain@DanTheCaptain6 жыл бұрын

    • I've played both! Squash definitely felt more physically demanding! I love both! What goes in favour of Tennis, I believe, is the fact that it is more spectator friendly & except the weird scoring system, is really easy to follow!

      @johnplockwood6113@johnplockwood61136 жыл бұрын

  • Thank you... nice, simple and clear. Some expansion on the "let, please" rules will be needed for most players. Plus , it would be good to point out that hitting the other player, in any way, is a big no no. If only because you want to have someone to play against. And did Rodrigues win that match against Gaultier ? Or was it just a game that he'd won?

    @japeking1@japeking16 жыл бұрын
    • I think that it's self-implied that hitting someone would probably be frowned upon. And yes, Rodrigues won the match against Gaulthier. Good match. Thanks for stopping by.

  • Personally I think Squash is a much more entertaining sport than Tennis. It would be a great addition to the Summer Olympics.

    @kylerm847@kylerm8476 жыл бұрын
    • I think it will eventually make the Olympic games. Squash has made a very good effort to make the sport more marketable and TV-friendly. From different coloured courts, coloured balls, playing these games in amazing locations (this game was played at New York's Grand Central Train Station) amongst other things. Lots of nations play the sport, it's popular and easy to watch now that they changed the scoring. I'm fairly sure that it's only a matter of time. Beats watching Olympic synchronised swimming!

    @christianlindharth5719@christianlindharth5719Ай бұрын
  • Does a player need to hit the ball directly onto the front wall, or can they hit it off another wall, so long as it reached the front wall above the tin before hitting the floor? At 0:55, it looks like the player in white and navy blue is hitting a forehand off the back wall that then bounces against the front wall and play continues.

  • There's an alternative hybrid method of play and scoring. Developed in Bedford its known as the CC Scoring System. Point a Rally but stopping at 9 points (the two point clear system still applies). It runs until one player is tired, or hungry and at that point the previous games won tally is ignored, and one game takes all then applies, with the loser paying for dinner afterwards.

    @animust482@animust4823 жыл бұрын
    • The second line on the wall is where you have to serve above (i.e the ball has to bounce above there when you serve) When you serve, the ball has to land inside the bigger box that your opponent is standing in (so you can't just serve it wherever you want).

  • I got really surprised when I first went to purchase the squash raquette in USA and the store employee was like, what the hell is that and then I said, where is the raquette ball things? Then I found my squash raquettes which was put right next to the raquette ball items and boy those raquettes were huge; I'm good with squash and someday will try out american version of easiest raquette ball...

    • Here's where it gets thorny. Because they are available on the public domain, they are open to 'fair use laws' so long as you credit them (which I do in all of my videos and descriptions). Most organisations are okay with this and I always ask permission to use their stuff. However, some organisations really don't want you to use their footage and start slapping you with copyright claims. So far, I've been hammered by the NFL, the International Olympic Comittee, Matchroom Sports, XOSDigital (which covers NCAA) and Star Sports (who I unsuccessfully fought and lost). These sports videos sometimes are more of a pain in the ass then they're worth.

    @pokerboy72@pokerboy725 жыл бұрын
    • They alternate sides from the last serve. As for when the ball hits the opponent, it depends. If the return would have been good and the ball would have struck the front wall without first touching any other wall, the striker wins the rally, provided the striker did not “turn”.If the ball either had struck, or would have struck, any other wall and the return would have been good, a let is played.If the return would not have been good, the striker loses the rally.

  • The new method of scoring is fairer than the old method simply because when you win the exchange from the serve you're at an advantage, therefore, it's only right that if the receiver (the one at a disadvantage) wins the exchange they should not only win the serve but also receive a point.

    • @@naominohar9251 I don't think the bar for which sport is superior just comes down to what is more physically demanding? Then surely the best sport of all time would be indisputably CrossFit or UFC or something? What about team sports? In many cases some people are less active during play that makes the game inferior? I've never played squash but this is a very poor argument for being the better sport in my opinion.
