  • As far as im concerned this 2011 Alabama defense was not only the toughest defense in Alabama football history , but the toughest defense in the history of NCAA football . That defense would absolutely HURT YOU. This is coming from a die hard Auburn fan

This Alabama defense by the way ranked 1st in the nation in 5 major categories and was probably the greatest in the modern era of college football.

So much for “the game of the century.” The so called honey badger was treated like common roadkill. Considering they had no marquee wide receiver that season and probably the least talented of their many great backfields over the last 13 years, I think they did quite well offensively. Alabama moved the ball all game, whereas Alabama didn’t allow LSU past the 50 until late in the 4th quarter (and on that drive pushed them back across the 50 in forcing a turnover). • LSU did not get screwed by having to play Alabama again because in there first match up they didn't prove they were the better team. Sure they won but it was in triple overtime after 4 missed alabama field goals. The truth is I'd your scared about playing a team again that you were lucky to beat the previous time than you weren't the better team. I see a lot of people argue for Oklahoma St that year but they lost to an unranked Iowa St team that went 6-7. They were lucky to only have dropped 2 spots after losing that game and honestly nobody would've been arguing for them if they didn't happen to be ranked 3rd.

    @CRMdrifter@CRMdrifter10 ай бұрын
    • Wow that's stupid. "Hey LSU you barely beat Alabama the first time, so we're going to punish you by making you play an extra game against Georgia just to play an idle Alabama again." Would've been in LSU's benefit to have lost the first game clearly, smdh

      @drayiii980@drayiii9809 ай бұрын
    • @@drayiii980 Well not necessarily. If they got blown out 21-0 then they would have kissed their championship hopes goodbye. But if they lose to the best team in the country by 3 in overtime after 3 missed field goals then maybe it would have. The truth is they didn't prove they were the better team and that ultimately came back to haunt them. They relied on 3 missed field goals to win in overtime by 3. And the only reason they were "punished" is because Oklahoma St lost to a 6 win team so blame it on that if anything. But any team who truly thinks they are in the best in the nation wouldn't bitch and moan about having to play a decent Georgia team and then have to play a team they already beat unless they were extremely worried about said team. And rightfully so considering they got their shit kicked in for 4 straight quarters. Any honest person saw who was really better after the national title.

    • @@CRMdrifter Okay for starters in isn’t always “the two best teams make the Natty, you have to earn your way. Otherwise that 2008 USC team would’ve made the playoffs and last years Bama team would’ve been in over TCU. Yes, OKST’s loss was worse but CFB effectively told Bama it was in their best interest to lose their game against LSU and LSU screwed themselves- by winning on the road btw. This was a fucked narrative. Also the idea that “oh if LSU was the best team then playing Georgia shouldn’t have mattered.” Jesus do you actually think that’s a good response? First of all, convenient that Bama wasn’t the one having to play them. Second, what if LSU won but a star player(s) sustained injuries while Bama’s players are just getting fresh? So ridiculous

  • So glad Mr Lee Corso was wrong that day this was the start of our 8 streak against LSU and they still haven’t won at home in Tiger Stadium since 2010. Past 3 10-0 29-0 and 55-17 so Alabama has outscored LSU in Tiger Stadium 94-17 the past 3 times it’s been in Baton Rouge with two straight shutouts!!!! The way LSU been playing it’s probably gonna be the start of another long beautiful streak if we can win 2021 and every year after the contract we will have won 9 straight (breaking the last one of 8 and and 2 away from tying the overall 11 when Bryant was there). We have already beaten Vanderbilt 22 (last three with Saban) Arkansas and Tennessee 14 (hope 15 this season), Mississippi State 13 (hopefully 14 this season), 10 Ole Miss (7 of which is with Saban and currently at 5) Florida 8 after beating them in the swamp this season, LSU 8 (sadly snapped 2019), 8 Texas A&M (hopefully 9 this season), Kentucky 7 ( last 5 with Saban), Georgia 6, Missouri 5 ( last 4 with Saban) South Carolina and Auburn both 1 (made as high as 3 with Auburn and SC we won 2-1 with 2/3 games at SC). We have had long amazing streaks and and currently won at least one in all 14 teams and all but 2 have current multiple win winning streak. That’s amazing most teams can’t do that. Two of those teams Kentucky hasn’t beaten us since 1997 when I was 2 and Vanderbilt was 1984 (1969 in their own home) before I was even born. The Vanderbilt streak would probably have been longer than the Florida Kentucky cause even 3-0 just beating ranked Kansas State “Alabama you next” and we beat them on the road 59- we played annually last played every year but 4 since 1926 and every year since since 1953 (1952 was one of those 4) and we last played annually in 2002 when SEC whiner from 2 permanent crossovers down to 1. 1953-2002 Alabama was 43-4 and 3 ties. 13 of their 18 wins came from 1903 to 1951. 62-8 despite losing first 5 despite Alabama not leading the series until 1938. I hope we can do 22 with an current annual like Arkansas/Tennessee currently 14 or Mississippi State currently 13.

(The "sh*t through a tin horn" game is debatable.) If Bama had beaten LSU 9-6 instead of the other way around, LSU would have been chosen over OSU for the title game, the same way that Bama was. I do believe them Cowboys would've given LSU its toughest test by far, that season. What Weeden and them were able to do down-the-field was awesome.

Also the circumstances around that Iowa State game need to be taken into consideration. Had that game been played on any other day, the Cowboys win it, but it was a rare Friday night game the day after Oklahoma State's women's basketball coach was killed in a tragic plane crash. • Well before the playoffs started there was many teams that were snubbed from the damn championship game that would have beaten any SEC team. There was two USC teams that would’ve whooped LSU and Florida’s ass in 2007 and 2008. Texas got snubbed in 2008 even tho they beat Oklahoma who ended up going to the title game. Undefeated Utah would have also whooped ass in the championship game. And then of course Oklahoma state got snubbed

Y’all Bama fans were throwing a hissy fit all year for a rematch and the damn media polls wanted to make a quick buck off of the “game of the century II”. I’m not saying OSU and Stanford were better but at least they won their conferences with the same record as Bama. Also, even if Bama gets in and wins the natty they should’ve been co-national champions with LSU. But nope the most talented LSU team was robbed of its championship by the media and crying Bama fans.
