The problem with Chevy *ick smokers is you all always talk about the same thing. The .5 or whatever second performance difference. Clearly the masses, market etc. do not care about that. If you look at total production numbers Mustang vs Camaro through their lives, you'll see that the Mustang trounces the Camaro which basically says that the public, overall performance etc. the Mustang is the better product. Yes, Chevy often stuffed bigger more powerful engines in but guess what. It didn't translate to the sales numbers.
Honestly they were both amazing vehicles, one started an entire lineage of cars and the other improved upon the original immensely how they didnt get 5 for each is beyond me

Yeah, we really needed to separate the '00s from the '10s. Mustang would have still won that round, but I think Camaro has made some gains in the '10s, so it would have been good to distinguish between the decades. Overall I think Camaro dominated the '10s performance-wise, though clearly Mustang outsold the Camaro once again, especially toward the end of the decade. I the end, "best" is subjective. For me, I've always been a Mustang fan and it will always be the ultimate winner in my heart. But I also can't deny the performance of the Camaro, and it has consistently gotten high marks. The styling was never my cup of tea, and the visibility has suffered from the design-first philosophy, but the IRS and the chassis have always been high points for the Camaro as well. Going forward the 2020 GT500 has really see a new bar, and I'm interested to see what Camaro does next. Though the styling needs a redesign in my book, they could really improve the interior visibility and move away from the concept design a little more. I'm not a big fan of the recent refresh and I wish they'd be a little more adventurous.

When they did the first episode "Evo VS Sti" I thought ok this point system is dumb but let's see if they fix it. We'll shit they didn't. In order to not piss anyone off they make up excuses to give one more point than the other, that way at the end they can say: "It's up to the viewer to figure out which is the better car". It's a lazy way for them to get more people to comment and engage so they can get noticed by the algorithm.

So a few things. The 6th gen zl1 1le wasnt the first time the camarowas beating super cars at the ring. The 5th gen z28 still to this day has a better lap time than many super cars at the time and even some base models that are newer. The 5th gen ss was also used for u2 landing and the camarl has been the car of choise for nascat safety car for a long long time now.

thomasj1026 Yes actually, Chevy decided to stop production of the Camaro. That’s not on the Mustang, why should it lose an entire decade of points. Besides, Camaro still would’ve lost that decade as Mustang had the Terminator, the S197 which literally defined the look of muscle cars for the next decade, and the Shelby GT500. Even if the Camaro had come out with some cool shit, the best they could’ve gotten was 5 to 4. The was easily one of most impactful decades for the Mustang.

I've always been a Ford guy as I've owned 3 mustangs in my life 2000 GT, 2007 GT and 2012 ROUSH (currently). But I've always loved the 2011 SS Camaro's aggressive look and design, it's seriously one of the best looking sport cars ever made. Deep inside I wanted one at that time.

I’ve owned both a ‘13 Mustang GT and ‘13 Camaro SS. Both were black and convertible and around the same mileage when I got them. The mustang got totaled and when I was gonna replace it the selection they had at the dealer ship were in poor condition but before I left to look else where I found the Camaro and was curious about it so I took it for a test drive and I fell in love with it. It felt more robust and I noticed it’s superior 0-60. And I loved the style more. Needless to say I’m a Camaro guy now but sometimes I miss ol’ Sally
Texas DPS had a camaro pursuit car in Hockley Co. It was a standard shift. I know. I was a student in the auto collision repair program and got to drive it in and out of the building. Fixed the dent and painted it too!

MY first car was an 84 Fox. 4 banger, bad paint, and a sunroof. By the time It went away, I had rollcaged and subframed it, k-swapped it, and big blocked it. It finally left me with 570hp/620tq, full tubbs, and one bad ass Mustang. Regret having to sell it everyday. My 80 Z28 ended up with a 440hp/510tq Mk IV, rollcage and tubbs. Not much regret with that car sale. Miss the days...

The reason is that the Camaro didn't release until 2010 after being discontinued in 2002, making the Camaro practically meaningless in that era, giving the Mustang probably too many points going into the next round.
Well the Camaro would have been out for most of the 2000-2010 decade so the mustang would have taken a massive lead for being pretty much the only one. But that's on Chevy for being lame so the mustang should have at least 20 points.

@@ragequitter Yeah that is obvious, they are wanting reasons for the points or better reasons, because honestly the 60s was shit for the Mustang by comparison, the Mustang was a "secretaries car" until Ford the 2nd got Shelby to fix it. And then the Camaro still had a more powerful engine. Starting the pony car segment would be credited to Ford not the Mustang itself, and it did not make the pony car segment famous around the world by itself, there a lot of other pony cars that helped. Can't use that against the Camaro that GM executives didn't think of it first. So -1 to the Mustang because it was a poop car until Shelby got involved and then -1 because it still didn't have as much power. I would give a total of 2 points for selling a shit ton, and 1 point for how good the Shelby cars were for a total of 3 points.

I respect both cars, as a mustang owner I still have some love for the camaro. Sure, everyone has different taste in American Muscle but at the end of the day, I feel like we should take the time and appreciate the fact that we are just people who love our powerful cars and to show appreciation for having a generation to keep the love for American Muscle going.

Camaros might be scrapped in 2023 because of their sales. They used to be number 2 behind the Mustang but they fell behind Dodge Challengers. BTW Corvettes aren't muscle car they are supercars if you didn't know.
Maxwell Brown corvettes are just now being turned into supercars since they’re mid engine, when they were front mounted engine they were just sports cars

You failed to mention that the DOHC 4.6 32 valve v8 ford used in the Cobra during the 90s was taken from the Lincoln Mark VIII. The Lincoln had better engines because they were Teksid forged blocks compared to the cast WAC blocks later used in the Fords

They stopped making the camaro for like 8 years in 2002 so not really worth comparing the two for that decade
Scott Boudreau the only GM muscle car to fill that 03-09 era was the Pontiac GTO and G8. I know it’s not a Camaro but I think it’s worth noting how much superior in performance the GTO was compared to the 2005 Mustang GT was but we all saw how it turned out in the end for Pontiac.

My dad had a 71 Mach 1 mustang when I was growing up and man that car was special. Not any other mustang like it, that thing was a friggin boat but she ran like a bat outta hell. Hopefully one day I can buy him that sucker back or something like it
I was born in the wrong time period, my dad tells me when he was young you’d be able to find Mach 1’s, fastbacks and camaros on the side of the road for sale for $1000

@@InuranusBrokoff actually gm has always been very competitive when dealing with ford. Occasionally Winning in all areas. What made ford stand apart was their special edition cars. They just had more hype for some reason. They weren't necessarily better all the time.
I agree the 70s wasn’t a great time for vehicles, I have a 1974 Chevy Cheyenne c20 with a 454 big block and it’s completely stock at the moment and only pushes out about 230hp because that year they had to change components to the engine to accommodate the epa, I’m going to eventually cam it and put a better carb on
I come back to remember how Ford and Chevy are so focused on rivalry that they forgot about Nissan.

My first car was a red 98 Camaro z28. Loved that car in high school
they should really do a fixed point system, e.g... - 1 point to whoever had the most horsepower that decade - 1 point to who sold the most cars that decade - 1 point to who had better pricing - 1 point to offered more features then the other - 1 point to whoever had the more iconic car that decade im just spitballing but the video did feel out of whack, i get that its hard to keep up with video demand under the recent conditions but i think i speak for most people here when i say id rather quality over quantity.
I completely agree, this scoring system feels random and off. I just find myself ignoring that part of these videos.
That selling point makes sense in a capitalist economy. We vote with our dollars. That metric is a great idea.

I'm a Mustang fan but this video needed more work. The current gen Camaro should have gotten more points on the last round; it's a better car performance wise and the chassis is better sorted. Also, it's remarkable how you all managed to miss the current gen GT350...

Funny, I’m a Camaro owner and I was going to say the Mustang was better. The visibility is trash and the lower end models have abysmal interior.
@@Tiralful I Turo'd a Camaro and yeah I can see the visibility being a deal breaker. I thought both interiors were pretty similar quality wise, but the Mustang seems better thought out. I like the design more too.

I owned a mustang, and a camro. I really really prefer camaros, I have a 2017 all decked out camaro zl1 and its one of the funnest cars I've ever driven.
