The designer epoxy looks so dynamic! It looks like you peeled away some of the wood to uncover the plasmatic energy inside. This, my friend, is what the inside of a Star Trek warp core engine looks like. Who knew?
Great point! Lol. Thank you very much!
🖖🏼
That`s an awesome comment! Im a trekkie and a Spraggie!
Trekkies everywhere, unite!💫👍
YESSSS!!!! 🖖🏻
Another woodturner I follow recently lost his lease, so is having to quickly move house and workshop. He said to his viewers "This is't asking for money, but if you could watch a bit of my back catalog, that'd really help!" So I put on one of his playlists, and let it auto-play in the background during my day. Happy to manipulate the youtube algorithm to help out creators I like! This piece is great! I'm really glad you left the top silver in place, it really works. I had hoped you'd use the titanium again soon, and against the walnut it's amazing. But then, walnut is always amazing. Unbelievable wood. And what's wrong with curling stones??!? It's a perfectly cromulent shape!
This is the main way people can support creators here on KZhead, let the videos play and watch or click on the ads. Nothing wrong with the curling stone shape either, lol. Thank you very much!
I did the same thing with one of his playlists! 👏👏 😁
@@SpragueWoodturning make a lidded vessel curling rock and put a handle on the lid lol
I do the same, Play All, on my favorite channels.
What a wonderful piece again!
A curling stone that pretty would get the gold medal for sure. Sweep hard!
Lol. Thank you very much!
It never ceases to amaze me how you take pieces of wood and such that I'd deign useful only as charcoal and turn them into some thing worthy of the British Museum. One day, you'll have your own exhibit Mr Sprague, and the world will know of your talent...
Wow! Thanks so much!
That silver looks awesome. I'm loving the hyper shift too. Even though I'm not a woodturner I feel like I learn so much listening to you. My husband & I binged watched your channel to catch up episodes that you done before I discovered you. We often say "that's not what Jim does" when we watch other turners lol.
Lol! Thank you very much!
The teaser picture didn’t do the project justice. I love the epoxy top; it gave it great balance and contrast. Beautiful. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you very much!
The thumbnail does NOT do this piece justice! That is absolutely gorgeous! The figuring in the walnut and the resin are very complimentary!
Thank you very much!
Before I even finish watching this, I just have to say, your shop is going to be crazy to put back together in your new place. You’re probably far more capable of doing that than I would be. That kind of stuff makes me lose my mind. I wish you all the best in your move with your shop, especially.
I forgot to add the end. I absolutely love this piece. It is gorgeous. There isn’t anything about it I don’t love. It’s perfect.
Yes, the shop is going to be challenging! Thank you very much!
Jim this shows an amazing use of Designer epoxy and hyper shift. I love the shape of this vessel.
Thank you very much!
Every item you create is absoluty beautiful
Thank you very much!
Truth Bill!
I'm usually a gold girl, but WOW! The silver/hypershift with the black walnut is a perfect compliment. Stunning piece, Jim! Your intuition is always spot on, I'm glad you went with your gut! I'm also so impressed with the Designer Epoxy that it didn't crack! Good luck on selling your house! The right buyer is right around the corner, I can feel it! Good juju vibes from the US!
Thank you very much! I really appreciate it!
Always know I’m in for a treat when the Hyper Shift comes to town 👌🏻
Thank you very much!
As always, you’ve hit another home run with this turning. That resin did some awesome figuring. Thanks Jim!
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks
Wow! Three of my favorite things: walnut, silver, and the hypershift.
Thank you very much!
Breath-making! It's reminiscent of storm clouds rolling across the prairie into the foothills. Very cool!!
Thank you very much!
I love, love, love the silver. It looks like a storm is brewing in the distance. Beautiful!
OH MY GOD! I really need to start waiting til the end to leave my comments...i thought it was stunning before, but the end with the light in it was just...WOW...no words!!
Thanks again!
The Titanium Silver pops the Black Walnut... absolutely gorgeous!💚🤗
Thank you very much!
Jim, once again, you outdid yourself with this week's project. The Titanium Silver with the hypershift was a perfect combo and reminds me of the Milky Way when seen from space.
Thanks so much!
I absolutely love this piece. I agree, Jim, contrasting colors is the way to go. When it was lit from the inside the epoxy looked like a stormy sky. That walnut is truly amazing. Granted there was little crotch grain, but, the figure was still very beautiful. Another amazing work of art, Jim. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Thanks for watching!
Love that you left the resin on top. I think it balances the piece. Beautiful piece of art! 👏👏✨
We wish curling stones were that pretty! 🩵
Thank you very much!
The Artcast from Designer Epoxy. turned out really well. I love that you use Hyper Shift in lots of your projects. I love the titanium and gorgeous effect of Hyper Shift too! Love your beautiful hollow form projects. I do love gorgeous Epoxy collar on this titanium and walnut project! Beautiful job! Love the contrast in colors! Who cares what the "naysayers" say (curling stone) I love the shape!
Thanks so much!
The silver is luscious and lux - black walnut is the perfect foil. Another beautiful success Jim.
Thanks so much!
I love this piece. The Designer Epoxy Titanium Silver with Hyper shift is absolutely stunning. I am so glad that you left the epoxy collar. I think it needed that collar with the walnut. Thanks for posting.
Thank you very much!
Mister Sprague your quality of craftsmanship never ceases to amaze me
Thank you very much!
Wow, that silver really makes the walnut pop. A lot of patterns in the silver. Like the size of the hollow form. Great job. 👍👍👍👍👍👍😎
Thank you! Cheers!
I love, love, love, love this piece. The epoxy left in the top just ties the piece together. Another awesome job. Although the larger epoxy pocket between the two crotches makes me think of a giant silver eye 😂😂.
Thank you very much!
Hi Jim - what a beauty! If that's a curling stone I would take up the sport! ❤ Designer Epoxy! Take care, Bob
You and me both! Ha ha! Thanks!
Okay with the light it looks like a cave crystal that has been exposed to the sun, awesome.
Thank you very much!
This may be my favorite piece you've done yet. The walnut looks all the more "warmer" for the epoxy
I think so too! Thanks
"Hello Gorgeous!" - the official greeting of the Woodturners of Petawawa Lodge!! Make sure you're looking each other in the eye and don't forget that firm handshake! Coming soon from Sprague Labs: the Burl Proof Apron. Yes! Made from the finest kevlar to turn away those pesky stray wooden projectiles! Comes in a variety of colors (black or brown)! Wonderful work, Jim. The piece looks even better on video than it did in the thumbnail!!
Hahaha! Thank you very much!
All my favorite things! Silver, hyper shift, and black walnut in the most beautiful combination! 😍 I don't have words for how perfect this turned out!
Thank you very much!
You're making it hard to find superlatives to describe your new piece! But this is amazing! Gorgeous! Just keep outdoing yourself!
Thank you so much 😊
I totally dig this piece. The walnut looks like cat eye and the resin looks like a storm is brewing
I see it, thanks!
Absolutely GOOOOORGOUS!!! Another fantastic job. Remember that there is blue in silver. It also looks like cloudy skies.
Yes! Thank you!
The thumb nail view looks like it's blue in the middle. I watched it and wondered when the blue would come in. Must be the hypershift making that look. Love the way the epoxy looks like it's moving. Designer Epoxy for the win!
It’s because there’s walnut behind it making it look blue. Thank you!
You've truly outdone yourself with this one, Jim. An absolutely stunning creation! The rounded shape with the striation in the wood grain and the stormcloud patterns in the resin remind me of a gas giant planet with all the whirls of storm winds. The silver at the top connects the rest of the resin in it so it draws the eye all over. The hyper shift adds so much extra dimension to the whole thing that it's not lost amidst the softer colors of the wood while really driving home the idea that there's lightning playing in those clouds. This one just takes my breath away! When you don't give into basic convention and keep all your options open, sure, you could end up turning away some areas that might be awesome in another format, but imagine if you'd gone a different direction with the pods and left that center one out and instead put in a spacer. You'd have visual voids and empty space that would itch at you the whole time. But when you keep all the options available, you can literally go anywhere with it. Amazing work, my friend! I envy the lucky fiend who picks this one up for their collection!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!
I love the swirling epoxy effect! It looks like a roiling storm cloud frozen in time
Thank you! Cheers!
The contrast between the epoxy and walnut is spectacular. Love the piece Designer Epoxy
Thank you very much!
I think this titanium hypershift combination is stunning. The walnut is my personal favorite of the hardwoods though I do love all of the woods. When I look at this bowl I see a turbulent sky that just seems to be constantly moving. The contrast is beautiful. You have done another stunning piece, your skill is amazing. Thank you for sharing your artistry!!
Wow. Thank you very much!
Absolutely gorgeous…love the combination of silver and walnut…”chef’s kiss”….👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you very much!
Hypershift for the win again!!! Glad to see the resin survived on the top... it really worked out well...
Thank you very much!
Love the pillow effect of the titanium silver and hypershift. Your artistry is amazing.
Thank you so much!
I am addicted to your work! I just started watching and I can’t get enough of it. You are a humble master teacher. Thank you!
Welcome aboard! Thank you very much!
It looks like a planet 😍 If you'd taken that top layer of resin away, it would've "just" looked like a lovely hollow form, but keeping it gave the piece a whole new dimension, like the swirling clouds and lines around Jupiter. Gorgeous.
Thank you very much!
My fave has always been the coral/ocean one, when you painted the edges of the wood with a ton of colors...now it's a toss up! This one takes my breath away!!! I absolutely love this mercury color, and I've been hoping you would use it again! This is STUNNING!!!!
Thank you very much!
After seeing so many of your works of art I have run out of positive descriptions. The walnut is gorgeous and the resin you can look at fr a long time and see something different every time you turn it. The sape is perfect. You keep turning and I will keep watching. Designer epoxy looks like fun to work with. Our only limit is imagination.
Thank you very much! I really appreciate it!
Gotta Love That Black Walnut contrast against the silver hypershift!
Thank you very much!
I think it would be good if you repost the clips where you give shop tours or show your dust collector as separate videos so that you can refer people to them in the future
Yes, I have a shop tools playlist and should make special videos for stuff like this. I do like the fact that it’s kind of an intermission break though, lol. Thanks
Wow that is gorgeous!! I LOVE this one! You say “This is one of my favorite pieces” all the time -- This is one of my favorite pieces! Wow!!! And I loved the ocean piece and the banksia piece from last week, and so many more, but that silver with the walnut!! Just striking!! And I just love all of the tips that you give. I don’t even turn and I love it. But you have put so much time, effort, and personalization into your shop, how can you leave it? That dust collection system alone, woah!!
It won’t be easy, thank you very much!
Walnut never disappoints and with the silver epoxy it's awesome! Designer Epoxy
Totally agree! Thanks so much!
I don't envy your busy schedule when y'all finally get to move. Surely if you can manage to move and put out turning videos at the same time you're made of sterner stuff than most of us. Might be a great opportunity to show what considerations one needs to have when setting up a wood working shop. At least you would be able to kill two birds with one stone that way....of course there's still editing. Very pretty hollow form by the way.
Yes, it certainly will be quite an adventure! Thanks!
CATCHING UP ON VIDO'S GREAT WORK AS ALL WAYS == WOW HAD NO IDEA ABOUT THE STATIC AMAZZING ==THIS PIECE IS A WANT TO DIE FOR SUCH A GREAT PIECE AND COLOR ==YEA ANOTHER BLUE RIBBON WINNER I SAY THANKS JIM 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Thanks again!
The Designer Epoxy really shines through, once again. This is a really gorgeous piece of work. I keep learning more as I watch. Thanks Jim
Awesome, thank you!
So pretty! I love the dark walnut with that bright titanium! It almost looks colored. Gorgeous as always! Designer epoxy ! 💕
Thank you so much!
I wasn't sure about the silver color in the designer epoxy by itself, but it turned out just beautiful! Gorgeous piece!
Thank you so much!
😮😮😮 Oh. My. Gosh. Okay, you already know my favourite colour is blue, but that titanium, with the hypershift, from Designer Epoxy, paired with that walnut ... I swear, my jaw hit the floor! This piece is absolutely stunning!!! It just made its way to number 3 in my top 5! Jim, your talent knows no bounds!
Thank you very much!
Im loving that silver top and collar!! The shape is a bit different, I love it! You did an amazing job on this piece. Thanks, Jim!❤️🩷🧡💛
Thank you very much!
Another awesome piece. I really liked the silver epoxy on the top. It was a nice change of pace. And yes it looks a little like a curling stone but my response to someone who said that would be... "well, yes I agree it looks like a curling stone. And your point being?" Usually shuts people down when they don't get the response they want. As soon as you agree with them they start to sputter. It's that sputter that wakes up the part of me that is going to hell and it giggles...lololololololol And we all have that part...you know that part...it's the part that's laughs when someone falls! lololololololol Thanks again for another terrific video...always appreciated! Designer Epoxy
Thank you very much! I really appreciate it!
The walnut and silver is gorgeous. It is amazing how the hyper shift and Designer Epoxy creates such incredible patterns. As always, wonderful job. Thank you for sharing your though process and creativity.
My pleasure! Thanks
That silver with the hyper shift is a great look! Also anything blue those have to be my favorite! Great work Jim
Thank you very much!
Thanks for the shop tour and producing another wonderful piece of art Jim..love the contrast of dark walnut and light silver coloured designer epoxy.
My pleasure! Thanks
The best bucket bashing I've seen to date 😄
Thanks
I think this is my favourite one so far, The titanium is excellent😀 . If it was a curling stone, it would be the coolest curling stone ever.
Agreed, thanks!
I love the dark walnut and light resin! Oh, and designer epoxy ftw! 😊
Thank you! Cheers!
That walnut and silver combo looks amazing!!
It does! Thank you very much!
I started to worry when I saw you continuing to widle away the top. So glad you kept it. ❤
Thanks!
Love it!! I am a silver person and that silver epoxy speaks to me, and is even better with the hypershift, particularly against the dark wood. I noticed at the top that the hypershift sifted into the wood cracks so they sparkle without having much color in them. Very neat effect! Designer Epoxy
I totally agree! Thank you very much!
That epoxy looks like something you would see in a Harry Potter film.....just magical looking ❤
Wow, thank you!
Just wanted to say I appreciate you going over your dust collection system. Super helpful information for any woodworker!
Awesome! Thank you!
This is SO PRETTY! My husband and I look forward to watching your videos every Friday. Your art just blows us away. I haven’t tried my designer epoxy that he bought me yet, but I have the silver but I can’t wait to use it. It’s so cool and you’re right - it looks awesome with the dark wood!
Thank you so much!
Designer Epoxy is beautiful with the hyper shift. Very beautiful hollow form.
I agree! Thanks so much!
11:28 remember when our weekly safety brief was Norm Abram talking about reading, following, and understanding safety manuals and wearing safety glasses?
I absolutely loved that show. Thank you very much!
That silver is stunning. Beautiful piece.
Thank you kindly
I think we know who won 'The Battle Of The Bucket' ..... and it wasn't the bucket. A stunning piece.
😂😂 Thanks so much!
Every video I watch is my new favourite piece 😂
Awesome! Thanks so much!
It looks like a river running through the wood. Just beautiful.
Thank you! Cheers!
WOW! just WOW! The contrast is absolutely amazing. The patterns in the epoxy either lit or unlit are truly mesmerising, definitely a colour to use again & again a spectacular piece of art, great job 👍
Thank you very much!
Gorgeous! The thumbnail looks like you used different color colors of resin! I like that you left the beautiful resin on the top! And the wood in the finished item is just gorgeous! See you next week! ❤
Thank you! Cheers!
I have no words. You, sir, are a wizard. The designer epoxy ain't bad either. Haha.
Thank you very much! 🤣🤣
Very awesome. Love the Silver and the hyper shift in there. Beautiful piece. Have a wonderful and blessed weekend and week
Thank you! You too!
Wow! That's something special!!! Seeing the thumbnail I first thought that you had used two different colours, which - if similar to the photo - would have been great, too. But the result is even more impressive. This silver-brown match brings a certain elegance to the piece. Which I love very much. And I love the colour variations in the wood, too. Walnut is one of my favourites btw. Well Jim, thanks a lot for such beauty. And 🤞 for your selling and moving plans
Thank you very much!
I will never work on a lathe, ( the walking and chewing gum at the same time thing) yet, I love watching you do it and listening to your process. Yours is one of my favorite KZhead channels. Thank you for the time and effort that goes into bringing this to us.
My pleasure! Thanks for your support!
You never cease to impress, that is one of my favorite pieces. "Good morning beautiful" had me laughing
😂 Thanks so much!
It is amazing how translucent the Designer Epoxy remains no matter how much pigment you've been using. I can recall only one or two examples when it didn't let as much light through. The crotch pieces really add a lot of character to this one.
Thank you very much!
This is GORGEOUS! You never fail to impress all of us who watch every week. Thank you for all your hard work. Designer Epoxy.
Thanks so much 😊
As always I LOVE the wood grain. The epoxy is gorgeous and the HyperShift puts it over the top magnificent! Designer Epoxy
Thank you very much!
My new favorite! That epoxy against the walnut wood is amazing! I like that you left the epoxy at the top.
Thank you very much!
Me again! Designer epoxy is on my mind to fix a cast iron tub!
Good choice!
Cricky Jim bloody outstanding piece, the contract between walnut and titanium it just screams out Sprague woodturing at it finest. Good on you for correcting your slip up last week. OWN IT WE MUST Keep that dream alive son Aussie Aussie Aussie GDAY MATE from brisbane Australia
Thank you very much Ernie!
Designer Epoxy. Epoxy is very nice, but that Walnut is gorgeous! The wood adds just as much, or more, than the epoxy.
Thanks so much!
First, curling stones need love too!😂 Second, I know I always say your pieces are spectacular, but it is. I need a new word, to the thesaurus!! Designer Epoxy
Lol. Thank you very much!
Jimmy Jimmy, beautiful turning this week! Love it! Thanks for sharing the dust collection in your shop. And most importantly how much you stress the fire hazards. Good job!!! Also, thanks for the lead on the Waterlox finish! I think your work looks the best with that finish!
Thank you very much!
running out of good things to say so NUFF SAID Designer Epoxy I will comment that i like the fact you left the top on this piece
Thank you very much!
The silver really makes the dark wood come alive!
Absolutely, thanks!
Wow, Jim! Definitely in my top three. I love the walnut and the titanium!!! I will NOT be one of those commenting that it looks like a curling stone. Not even close. As always, I can't wait until next week. Designer Epoxy.
Thank you very much!
I’ve been watching so long that I remember when the buffing compound stick was big! Lol
Oh, this is probably number thee since starting my channel, lol. Thanks
Hey Jim that color is magnificent on this project. FYI they make acrylic piping you could run dust collection through it would be see through. One of the things I do when I’m contracting is taping the floor. It will help you visualize your layout that works best for you. Plus with tape you can make everything exactly the dimensions for your set up. Looking forward to seeing your new setup and workshop
Me too, lol. Thank you very much!
The resin looks like you captured clouds in between the wood 🙂❤️
Thank you very much!
It’s beautiful, Jim. Thank you for continuing to share your knowledge and talent 🌞
You are very welcome!
