I hate waste, and I love the Way you took these beautiful waste pieces of walnut and rescued them from the fire wood pile. Good job Jim.
Thanks!
When life gives you lemons...Jim's lemonade!
Yup, thanks!
It's not a "failure" if it makes you do things the right way thereafter. It is a "learning experience".
True, thanks 😊
I don't blame you for taking the chance to do this one right. It is really bright and stunning! Amazing job, Jim! 💜
Thanks 😊
Every time My phone catches your name in the notifications it wants a auto thumbs up cause it knows it will be great 👍
Thanks!
My father was also a carpenter a long time ago, and I had such jugs and platters at home, but they never came up with the idea of bonding wood and resin, and what you do is simply DELICIOUS !!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!
Thanks again!
I love your videos, I am not a wood worker or a builder of any kind. I have had a hard time sleeping after getting out of the Marine Corps. Your working process is calm and has really helped me find a mindset for sleeping. Thank you, continue to do amazing work.
Glad to help! Thanks
The second try on the platter is a winner. The lemon resin is a great contrast with the walnut. Plus we got to watch another episode of Jim vs. the casting bucket.
I gave it a whooping, haha. Thanks!
Ditto, I have never seen any work by anyone else so beautiful. You are amazing.
Thank you very much!
Jim don’t worry about those spots. Most for us who don’t know about trees wouldn’t know the difference.😊❤
Thanks very much!
I love that Limon Glitter and that dark wood really makes it pop.
Agreed, thanks!
Really glad that you were able to 'exorcise your demons' with this weeks video, and I totally agree that it would look awesome as a backlit display piece!
Thanks!
The contrast between the wood and resin is breathtaking. Yet another beautiful piece. Thank you for showing us your work. 🙏❤️
Thanks for watching!
Lemon Glitter? This can’t be good. Well, I was doubting your choice of color until you put that polish on it! Now that is BEAUTIFUL! It looks like lightning strikes! Very nice! Bravo!
Light will always go with dark. Thank you so much!
Those spots on the back I like because it adds character to the platter & I like the lemon glitter platter a lot.
Thanks 😊
Crazy how bright the yellow is!! love the combination of colour!!!
Thanks!
the light hitting that thing turned it radioactive! really cool that it’s lemon yellow in low light and neon green in sunlight. strongly mixed pigments always have some hidden gems to show off in your work. loving it 👍
Thanks!
I like this profile very much. The light shining behind it would be gorgeous 😍
Thank you! 😊
The pattern in the wood really pops against that yellow. Very striking!
Thanks 😊
Love the walnut and Yellow together. Very nice.
Thanks 😊
I made a cup of tea in anticipation of your fight with the casting and was not disappointed. That wood is absolutely beautiful.
Thanks 😊🔨🔨🔨
I’m pleased you got yourself a win. Personal victories matter!
They sure do! Thanks
I'm running out of words to express just how beautiful I think your work is! I love this one! That yellow 💛💛💛
It sure pops with color! Thanks 😊
You know it's kinda traditional now watching you struggle with the casting bucket. That vibrant yellow perfect for highlighting the darker parts of the walnut, really nice. Great job. No Viking funeral for that platter.
Not this one, haha. Thanks
Success! Kinda... two little spot... but whatever, right? Um, yeah... seeing a third iteration in Jim's (our) future. Can't wait! 😍
Nope, I’m done with the lemon glitter, lol. Thanks 😊
@@SpragueWoodturning ok! I loved it anyways! lol
Awesome results, I'm never throwing out any punky offcuts again. Your ingenuity is inspiring as allways to step out of ones' comfort zone and try new things.
There the best ones to do casting with. Thanks
I can imagine that on a table, at a dinner party. lovely
Agreed, thanks 😊
Stubborn bugger. Wow definitely was worth it. It's beautiful
Thanks 😊
Jim: Thank you so much for the "Whacking Portion" of the video. It looks really funny when sped up. When I originally saw the platter I thought it was the one you did back when it failed. This looks really nice and I agree with you on the back light. It would look good with a white cake on top of it. Take care and as always stay safe.
Thanks 🔨🔨🔨
I swear you have the best colors. I'm a huge fan of yellow, and love how it looks neon yellowish-green when the light shines through. Very cool design too
Thanks!
Gorgeous! Puts me in mind of an exploding planet.
That was kind of the look I was going for. Thanks
I can’t believe it was made by human hands…. Beautiful!
Thanks 😊
The way you made the pieces fit makes it look almost like the walnut was shattered. Love that look. The spots on the back give it character. I'm off to watch the fail video :). Once again appreciate the commentary and details. Cheers.
Thanks 👍
Beautiful work Mr Jim. Glad to see you didn’t let it whip you. Thanks for trying again and succeeding this time.
Thanks for watching!
Lemon paired perfectly with the black walnut. Just like cornbread and chili😋
Yum, lol. Thanks!
Excellent job on the redemption. Glad that you didn't allow that one to slip away.
Thanks!
My first comment Jim, been watching each week for several months now. Just had to say this platter is absolutely stunning 😍 💛💛
Awesome, thanks!
beautiful! I love the yellow, the walnut looks like an archipelago on a sulphur sea!
Thanks 😊
Beautiful contrast with the resin and wood 👍🏻 Thank you for another great video
Thanks for watching!
That southpaw turning has some advantages! Nice work. Beautiful piece!
Thanks! Lefties are in our right minds 😜😜
Oof. Really, really.. really like this one. That eye in the burl is awesome. Thanks Jim
Thanks for watching
Jiiiiiiimmmmmy!!! You never cease to amaze me! I LOVE LEMON GLITTER! The walnut goes PERFECT with it, too! In case nobody's said it for a while, you freaking rock!
Thank you very much!
Lightening striking a platter!
Thanks 😊
This is just stunning. I think those spots actually blend in beautifully with the look of the plate. 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Thanks!
I love watching your videos. Best part is getting the casting out. Lol.
The struggle is real, lol. Thanks
That's super cool. The yummy yellow color reminds me of lemon merengue pie. 😊
Yum! Thanks so much!
I like your polka-dot spots. It's real life for the platter.
When you held the atter with the yellow round section at the top. It looks like Pacman the round spots on the back can be ghosts since they didn't go away. I do have a weird since of humor.
I really like it the colors are beautiful.
Thanks 😊
That is so beautiful. You sure did redeem yourself! I love anything lemon - the smell, the color, the taste - it gives that platter such a sunny look.
Thanks 😊
Aha, you made another one. And this one worked!
Yup, lol. Thanks for watching!
So glad you revisited this project Jim it is beautiful
Thanks 😊
Awesome platter I love that lemon glitter and walnut.
Thanks!
Good evening, Jim. Well, you got it right this time. Absolutely gorgeous. Winner winner.
Thanks Ray!
Glad you got your revenge on this one! Turned out nice, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Great project and great turning, Jim. The glue spots are not a factor whatsoever. Thanks for sharing the details with us.
Thanks!
The contrast in this is fantastic!!
Agreed, thanks 😊
I agree... no one's gonna notice the back that much. I think it would look awesome as a clock too 💛💛😉
It sure would, thanks!
Pretty platter Jim, I think I've watched you long enough to see a third try in the future. Live and learn,if your not learning your not living. Thank you for your hard work.
Nope, I’m done, lol. Thanks
One more time please those spots would just always bug me but that yellow is so beautiful
Yellow my favourite colour, love the platter and the size is great!
Thanks!
Hi those marks add to the character of this beautiful piece and it shows people nothing is perfect no matter how hard you try
Thanks 😊
The two glue spots aside, which I believe have no affect on the piece whatsoever, that lemon glitter with the walnut is gorgeous. I’d like to see more of that color.
It’s a tough color to work with. Thanks!
Stunning piece Jim! I'm much the same in letting failed things eat at me until I re-do it and get it right! Fail really only means first attempt in learning ;)
Thanks!
Another episode of Jim vs The Bucket! Platters are not my favorite, but it looks great and I’m glad you were able to get some closure on this piece. 🙂
Thanks 😊
As always great job you inspire all us amateurs wood turning.
Thanks for watching!
I do like it, wish I saw it 2yrs ago it is awesome.
Thank you very much!
This is still one of favorite pieces you've turned.
Thanks!
Looks good. No foul ups this time. 👍😎😎😎👍👍👍👍
It’s a winner, lol. Thanks
Really liked your platter, Jim!! Great profile and fantastic color with the walnut. Thanks for sharing and entertaining us.
Thanks for watching!
Glad you did this one - got back up on that horse. 🙂 Pretty, looks like lightning & I'm always a fan of walnut.
Thanks 😊
I am just starting out as a woodturner and am watching your videos religiously. Great to have someone like yourself sharing your skill and talent.
Great! Welcome aboard!
Beautiful platter, I wasn't sure I would like the yellow, but it really pops against the walnut. Well done.
Thank you very much!
Jim, reallllyyyyy This is a fantastic dish, and I do like that lemon resin ... WOW WOW WOW
Thanks 😊
Beautiful work. As for the spots on the bottom of the Platter just tell people that is the tree's birthmark. One of a kind. 😀
That’ll work, thanks 😊
Well worth the second attempt. 👍👍
Thanks!
Glitter yellow, I was not sure o would like it but it’s stunning. I love walnut and your black walnut is beautiful! It turned out beautifully!
Thanks!
Great project! Persistence pays off. Not normally a yellow fan, but you won me over for this.
Great, thanks!
It's beautiful, like kintsugi, the scars are enhanced and make the whole piece more spectacular.
Totally, thanks!
Totally understand having another go at that one. Turned out a beautiful piece again. Love the yellow.
Thanks 😊
I love the lemon yellow against the dark wood.
Me too, thanks 😊

We loved the translucent yellow it contrasted well with the colour of ythe wood well done cheers Jen
Thank you very much!
Amazing platter, nice recovery. Your mold issues always make me laugh.
It was free, just wouldn’t come out, haha. Thanks 😊
Came out great!! I loved the look when it was spinning and you were putting that last coat of finish... Nobody's going to notice where the glue was unless you point it out...😉
Thanks 😊
Definitely a bright resin! Wasn’t sure that I’d like it but as usual… beautiful piece as always!
Thanks 😊
Nice contrast of colour and form for this platter Jim.

Gorgeous platter, Jim. You gotter done. Awesome. Take care. 😊

Wonderful finished project!!! So glad you were able to clear your mind of the past mistake.

Sticky moulds... it's likea the good old days. I love the way the yellow is outlined by the walnut. Makes it really pop.
Lol, thanks!
Definitely far more successful than the first, Love it
For sure, lol. Thanks
Beautiful piece Jim love that lemon color with the black walnut.
Me too! Thanks
Love the yellow, sets the wood off nicely 👌 👍
Thanks!
Second times the charm, love the yellow
Thanks!
Even if the bowls or platters wasn't entertaining enough the fight you have with the mold is always worth watching. As always a very beautiful piece of art.
Thanks!
Adult beverage coming out of my nose watching you trying to get this casting out of it’s mold. Testament to the adhesion properties of duct tape. 🤣
Lol, thanks 😊
i wouldn't have thought fluorescent yellow and walnut would work together but they sure did! it's beautiful with the backlight.
It sure pops! Thanks
Hi, it turned out pretty. Love the colours of the wood and resin it glows. Beautiful plate. Have a good day.
Thanks 😊
Strikingly gorgeous!!!! Wow!!!
Thanks!
Beautiful, I love the yellow, it would match my kitchen! 😉

I'm so glad you redid the lemon yellow platter. It is absolutely beautiful. The spots on the back gives the platter character. Great job.
