The 2024 Lexus GX 550 Overtrail + ($77,250 starting in the US, $101,850 starting in Canada) is a long awaited refresh of Lexus’ beloved luxury offroader. Here with a fresh new boxy look and lots of new tech and features, the new Lexus GX aims to combine road comfort with off road capability. Powered by a 3.4L twin-turbo V6, the GX makes 349 horsepower and 479 lb ft of torque. It also has tons of off road goodies like available 33 inch all terrain tires, a locking rear differential, crawl control and more. But does it live up to its rather steep price tag?   • So refreshing to see a car desgined with no gimmicks. No annoying features behing a touch screen, no stupid capacitive touch buttons, a proper gear lever, etc. With so many manufacturer's trying to re-invent the wheel, Lexus got the fundamentals spot on.

  • 14:17 Hey guys, Lexus Tech here. That beeping sound that happens in the drivers seat when you move it is actually something that's supposed to be removed during the GX PDI process, but all Lexus cars from factory come like that. I believe it's there to remind the tech doing the PDI to set the seat memory, so when it isn't set, it just beeps when moving it. All they had to do it move the seat through all of the maximum movements possible in the seat control, and it'll go away. Always love the videos guys, keep up the good work

    • Kinda right, kinda wrong. It’s a reminder that the seat ecu hasn’t been initialized. The seat memory function doesn’t work til it is initialized. Also I’m sure setting the seat memory isn’t part of the PDI process.

  • That's awesome to hear about the engine not being too stressed. When I'm on the freeway going 70 mph the LX is sitting at around 1.8k RPM. It feels like it's just relaxing the whole time. I love that and would hope it stays that way in the new GX and LX.

    • I know this won't ever happen considering US/Canada's views on Diesels nowadays, but imagine if the GX gets the TTV6 Diesel from the Land Cruiser 300 series which has even more torque at around 700Nm / 516lb-ft.

  • You don’t want rear steer on an offroad capable vehicle, you’d wear the suspension out on articulation for sure. Screens are fine in reference to Ford because I’ve been seeing people have problems with the bmw styled screens they’re using recently.

  • As a 6’6” automobile enthusiast, I loved that you had your 6’6” colleague hop in the back seat. But what I really need is what is his space and adjustment like in the drivers seat. There have been plenty of vehicles that I would have preordered if only I knew I would fit. Would be awesome, however assuming impractical, if you had this for every review!!!     • I’m 6’5 250 and I can fit with no issue in my 23’ IS 500. My girlfriend can sit behind me too. This car is definitely bigger so you should have no issue there. I also own a Tacoma and have plenty of room.

  • The seat is beeping when adjusting because it hasn’t been calibrated yet. You have to move the seat fully forward, then the back seat bottom moved down fully, then the front seat bottom lowered fully, then the seat back moved foreword fully. That will calibrate the seat and it won’t beep

  • Another GREAT opening (even without a punchline) and the new lead in video is great! The inclusion of Harrison is always a treat but, it would have been epic if somewhere in the video where you were on screen driving the GX, Harrison's head rose up from the back with that classic big smile of his! Oh! And since you were in the AZ, and that you like to collaborate with other reviewers, it might have been nice to have a Sarah-n-Tuned cameo here. Just sayin'...
