    • ​@s.ivainesu A Choke implies that Halep started to make a lot of Unforced Errors. But that's not what happened. Ostapenko was blasting Winners left and right. Over 50 in the match that's why she won.

    • @@jeffreykaufmann2867 Being broken when serving to stay in the match is proof enough of not being able to handle pressure. Also Ostapenko hit just as many enforced errors. Halep had her chances, she wasnt being aggressive - 8 winners the whole match - and waiting for her opponent to hit errors which doesnt work when opponent isnt intimidated

    • @s.ivainesu Ostapenko is a better player than Halep. Even Iga Swiatek can't beat her, 0-4. She crushed Iga's Serve at the U.S Open just like she did to Halep's Serve at the F.O.

  • The outstanding performance of a lifetime for first grandslam final and first title i've ever seen in tennis watching of nearly 25 years. That performance totally deserve that year Roland Garros title , i was amazed and shock by the outcome of Jelena's raquet that day, incredible and inspiring.

  • Ostapenko seemed unstoppable back then.Many told that she would dominate this tournament. She won 7 matches in RG 2017. Not many would suspect that after this, she would win 4 matches in next 6 RG editions (only once reached round 3) and RG would be dominated by Iga who came in 2020.

  • It has been already 6 years. Ostapenko did not use her full potential since then. However she is this "mystery box" in almost each big tournament because when she would pull off she is almost unbeatable.

  • Ive loved Ostapenko resurgence within the past two years. I definitely watch the French Open 2017 final myself before this nice video was posted. Alot has changed in six years but she still is a difficult player to beat when players have face her. I know folks don't like her because of her arrogance and being rude to other players but she paints the lines. She's a really good tennis player. Her problem has always been consistency. In the final, when it was 4-4 in the second, Ostapenko took advantage. She was moving really well throughout the match even though she was still down, she kept bringing it to Halep. And that lucky drop in (for Halep lol) at 3-3 for break point in the final set sealed it. Still amazing to watch!

  • This was the first match I ever watched and it was on TV.. I remember being like "ah fuck the other girl is so passive I'm bored" haha.. I was rooting for Ostapenko and I'm still an Ostapenko fan to this day even tho you won't see me saying it out loud 🙈

  • I remember watching this and thinking that halep gonna win on her unforced errors…osta never doubted her plan even when it seemed like it may not be helping her in the long run. I rooted for her because she was brave, fiesty and persistent. She hasn’t changed one bit either!

    • Simona was by far the best woman in the world on clay at that time - NOBODY else would have beaten 'Penko the way she played not only on that specific day, but for the entirety of the tournament. I very, very seriously doubt that anyone else at that time could have given her as good a match in the Final as Simona did on that day.

  • The goosebumps match for her and it changes the wta women games for ever since that domination of serena is end and the new chaos begin until the last 03 years which be ruled by the three Barty-Osaka and Swiatek even it's only Swiatek maintain her dominant through out the year 2022 but it more stable than the chaos period between 2017-2020.

  • Ostapenko literally caught lightning in a bottle winning 7 matches in a row with her high-risk tennis. When you aim for the lines you're gonna miss half the time. Her results since that GS victory has bore that out. What's funny is that she thinks she's capable of recreating that magic. If you can correctly guess a coin-flip 7 times in a row and think it's not luck you're setting yourself up for disappointment.
