Its interesting to see the tutorial Midbus and Shroob fight not get softlocked or have the game crash when beaten. I guess it's because the game knows the battle is over and it just resumes like usual. Almost as if planned...
@Niray f Nobody cares
It's kinda strange. I remember me trying out cheats in BiS a long time ago and actually having the midbus fight softlock. Perhaps it could be caused by killing him with the first counter punch. Or I might be confusing it with the tutorial bowser battle.
I guess it goes like a normal fight and the "loss" triggers once it's over
What likely happens is after the battle ends, the result of the battle isn't checked, and instead the same event always happens. Normally, it would check the result and take you to different things depending on it.
@@TheFinalChapters That's only if the developers planned for a fight to be winnable, but not be a mandatory win. Or occasionally, it's a mandatory win but either that battle, or the entire game in some cases, doesn't have a game over trigger. For example, in an SNES RPG called Estpolis Denki II, or Lufia II in the US or just Lufia in Europe, the first fight with the first of the main antagonists is possible to win with careful preparation, and if you do win the game rewards you before story takes over and he wipes your party out before leaving anyway, and the story continues like normal from there. Meanwhile, in the game's prequel, the first encounter with that character has drastically inflated HP and Attack Power over even his endgame fight. He has over 60000 HP at a time where you're lucky to deal 10 per attack, and he deals between 580 and 650 damage with a single attack where you'll have 30 HP at most, it's clearly a battle never intended to be won. So, if you go into the code and adjust stats to make it a proper fight, as if the boss is playing with you a la Ghirahim, the result is still that after the fight the main character's defeated and things continue as normal with literally no change. Because an alternate outcome doesn't exist in the code.
Ok I know it was a cheat, but I thought it was actually pretty cool how you can legit catch the Lord pokemon and use it in a battle with its actual size, color, and even move set. EVEN ITS ANIMATIONS ARE THERE LOL
This makes me think the lords are treated as a different form all together

@@j.hawkins8779 why
For Mother Brain, it's actually possible to kill her DURING the scene where the baby Metroid is healing you by using the re-stand glitch, but it softlocks the game. The glitch is used for speedruns since it allows you to drop Mother Brains health low enough during that cutscene to where after getting the Hyper Beam, it only takes one or two shots to kill her and save quite a few seconds.
True
it don't softlock the game if you drop her to 0 HP, you can't kill MB until the cutscene finish, even when she is at 0 HP, what can happen is when you shoot at the same time you get hyper beam the game lag terribly and its become super slow processing like 1 frame at a time, can remove this condition by holding item cancel, and MB has 3 phase, phase 1 has 3000 HP and can only die when the glass is fully broken which take 18 projectile (missiles or super missiles) second phase has 18000 HP and last phase has 36000 HP, its possible to make her at 0 HP but you will need to shot one last shot to kill her after the cutscene

@@RediteDaGem It's a bot, don't bother asking.
@@FrenchLightningJohn I have to do this since there is NO excuse to let this slide. *It doesn't softlock the game if you drop her hp to zero, you cannot kill Mother Brain until the baby cutscene finishes, even when her health reaches zero. What does happen when you shoot on the same frame you get hyper beam is the game starts lagging terribly and processes very slowly (like 1 frame a second), but you can stop this by holding item cancel. The reason Lord Avalugg is fully complete is the same reason dark souls bosses are fully complete when they are hacked into being playable. They are built to use the same systems the player uses in battle for fairness. That's why the bosses in all souls games have a pattern of a wild flurry of attacks and backing off, they have their own Stamina meter and inventory to manage.
Did not know that. Neat.
Not really fairness, Risk of Rain 2 uses the same method and they explained it really well If both player characters and enemies work with the same system, you essentially cut an entire part of the work from the equation since everything you make for the player now works for the enemies too Both can share functions A system like this has downsides since now changing enemies can also break the most complex characters: the player characters. And all the code that works with the player is now run with all the enemies too, adding more load. Most tactical RPGs use this system too, like Tactics ogre or FFTactics, this is why there are cheats to control the enemy as if they where your units In fact, i am making one and i also went for this system, just easier to manage

Soft lock, or it just plays the cutscene that would happen normally
Generally it doesn't matter. The gamecode of many games is basicly IF win THEN do x ELSE do y. But you can also ignore those and just add stuff afterward, making the battle result irrelevant, and that's what results in the cases of this video. But sometimes it can result in, well, softlocks because particularly bad programming only has a "IF lost THEN" condition and the game doesn't know what to do as nothing is defined otherwise.
Probably would just continue the fight until you lose

It becomes especially cool if the developers program something in for these "unintended" cases. The legends clip is really interesting for so many reasons, like how the theme doesn't build up when fighting the wild pokemon, or how the game treats the boss fight pokemon like any other pokemon and not only that but even gives them moves which under normal play wouldn't even ever be seen.
I'm surprized you can actually catch them in this manner since normally enraged pokemon can't be caught outside of battle regardless.
@@sinteleon I mean you can stun them to catch them while they are enraged but that obviously isn't what happened
It was cheated
It probably has to do with them being coded similiar to other Pokemon, just normally you'd be restricted from catching them, but due to the cheats used you bypass that restriction. There are a few other games that also do a similiar thing where the Bosses or Enemies are following the same rules as the player, thus have coded-in things that you'd normally never get to see without Cheats/Hacks. An MMO i played has a Modificatin which actually allowed you to open and look at the Inventory of enemies and they actually just spawned the same Ogre in, but depending on what weapon the RNG gave them, they'd have higher or lower Attack.

"Mibus! Now is the time for striking!" Said a truly insane man.
More games really should include "what-if" scenarios for when you win.
I like how the programmers even made that the Pokémon lord is useable like they knew some random madlad would try to catch it
They just didn't care to make a special object for it Which makes sense, they just use the same code as all other pokemon but with a flag to prevent catching, the cheat helps to mess with that flag Otherwise they'd have to create an entire system for a single pokemon that does the exact same the existing code does
