Forgot one funny detail: speedrunners stay in morphball form while waiting for Kraid's spawning animation, as it normally lags the game a little bit but being in Morphball speeds it up thanks to rendering less stuff, making the spawning finish faster.

I was at work finishing up the last of the morning labs for our patients at the hospital, and one of this patients was a baby that the nurse wanted me to come back for. But I forgot to make a note of it and when I remembered almost an hour later, I said in a very Samus-esque voice in the elevator (with other riders in there) and not in a very quiet voice… “THE BABY.” And it was the best morning run I had at work because of this lovely piece of work that you constructed! ❤️
After having my interest sparked in Super Metroid speedrunning through this video, I come back a couple years later to see even more insane details in this video. The moonfalls, arm pumps, Kraid quick kill, moving forward while shooting missiles into Phantoon (The Doppler), collecting early Super Missiles in Green Brinstar by mockballing and early Power Bombs in Red Brinstar, using spikes to get i-frames in Lower Norfair, shinesparking in the climb room during escape and so on. Absolutely phenomenal!

Just found out 5 minutes ago that the reason Samus flails her gun arm up and down while running is because it is a reference to "arm pumping," which is an actual speedrun technique which makes Samus run faster.
Huh: didn't figure that out. Here I thought it was because she was constantly shifting her sights up and down to blast anything that might come from any direction and slow down her stride.
Pretty much everything in this video is accurate to how speedrunners go through the game. Terminal really did his research when making this. Its hilarious.

Super Metroid is my all-time favourite game. I've been playing it since I was 5 any have beaten it hundreds of time. And this is one of my favourite videos on KZhead. I keep coming back to rewatch because it's just so incredibly well done. The fact you stuck so close to the actual run, incorporating all the tech. The fact you made Samus look like the total badass she is in canon. And the fact that you managed to combine this with great humor, references, AND an awesome fight scene, jam-packed into one animation, is just wonderful. Genuinely, thank you so much for bringing more attention to this amazing game. Just when I thought Super Metroid might be forgotten, you came along and made _by far_ the most popular SM (or even Metroid) video the Internet has ever seen. Through this animation, a whole new generation of players has, and will continue to be, introduced to this wonderful game/series.
The ratchet and clank 3 loading screen ship sound effects and planet arrival are so subtle and made me so happy once I noticed them. Mad respect, that game is amazing

So I just got through Metroid Dread. I think they watched this while they made that game, because this exact vibe, this exact same energy, is how Samus rolls up on EVERYBODY in every cutscene.

This was the video that truly got me into Metroid. I was kinda on the fence about wether or not to try it, and this video tipped me over the edge. Today , I 100% dread mode in Dread with a time of 7 hours and 56 minutes.
I also like the implication at 5:53 from Samus' confusion over not being able to leave the room. She's been doing everything up till now because she really DOES know the map like the back of her hand, and she IS that good. Not because the player has put her through this multiple times to master the game.
Now that you mention it, that implication is also at 6:24, with Samus contemplating whether or not to leave the animals

I love how speedrunner Mario had to be possessed to get his speed, but Samus over here’s apparently just raw skill. Hope to see her use that in season 4’s crossover episodes.
I like to think that Mario generated the speed demon with the speedrun techniques, and little by little the demon’s madness was taking over Mario.

@@Vyz3r ngl I hate people who do this. It's a METROIDVANIA, y'know the genre where you explore and experiment with stuff. Besides Metroid "usually" gives some hint what to bomb/shoot (cracked blocks, corners, empty space, the power bomb for endgame)

even if you're speedrunning the game and filling him with as much super missiles and missles as you can, ridley still might land a couple hits on you. especially if you don't care about getting hit. samus here pretty much didn't mind since she is filling with missiles literally.

Most "Something About" bosses: Survive less than 5 seconds. Ridley: Survives 23 seconds against Speedrunner Samus I mean, it makes sense, because he's the Cunning God of Death. And no, BoTW Ganon doesn't count because he uses multiple forms, which count as different characters.
