  • I recently really got into detailing and you have been a huge inspiration! I did my first coating with Gyeon Pure EVO, and now I have sooo many Gyeon products 😁 recently was able to get my own cabinet to organize my microfibers as well and it is amazing. I used to have one shelf on an open rack and it was so cluttered and disorganized. Thank you for what you do, I have truly found a love for detailing. I may not do it at a professional level but I am finding joy in it, and I can't say that about many things.

If I can’t bust the dirt/debris off with a regular pre-wash rinse then a foam cannon certainly won’t help. Your videos are always worth a watch and I watch them for a lot of decision making when I am on the fence. Appreciate you, sir!

  • Thanks, Pan, for another consistently excellent video. One reason that I'm averse to using these highly acidic or alkaline detergents is because of the effect on rubber and plastic trim. If I were to use one, I would follow up the wash with an application of some protectant to the plastic and rubber to keep them from drying out.

    • I don't recommend using high or low pH snow foams on a regular basis. Use it on an as needed basis, every other month or when a deeper cleaning is needed. And in all these years of detailing, I have yet to see any uses once common sense is applied and the products are used correctly. I mean they were formulated by car detailing manufacturers that understand the surfaces well. We're not talking about using a house grade soap on a vehicle here. Automotive grade stuff made by reputable brands. For regular weekly washes though, all that is needed is a pH neutral snow foam, and pH neutral soap as I mentioned in the video. :)

  • I have a mostly touchless method (using a foam canon) going with our Alfa Romeos, but with a couple of special requirements. First and foremost, we had our new house built with a drain and a hot/cold soft water supply. So no sunlight and no hard water, two of the most detrimental factors in my previous 45 years of cleaning cars. I rinse and clean with a pressure washer, which really gets the bug guts, mud and most surprisingly, a lot of the brake dust. The I use the Adam's foam canon using the wonderful Chemical Guys Honeydew soap. At this point, I only use a clean wet mitt to scrub the car, if it had dried road film/salt on it. Otherwise, I let it the foam dwell for 5 minutes or so. I thoroughly rinse with the pressure washer and blow dry. Once a month, I do a final (post blower dry) dry using microfiber towels and P&S Beadmaker. It works wonderfully. The only time I touch our cars 90% of the time is the post blow dry, final towel drying (which isn't much). I think that what makes this method really work is the soft water (an often overlooked issue, IMO) and the P&S Beadmaker. For me, the take-away is that minerals in the water (whether from the wash water supply or embedded in the the road grime) is the real enemy of a "touch-less" wash.

  • Great content as always Pan. So I was searching for the sds for descale since I like to know a little more about the chemicals I use and found other people also had trouble finding it. I reached out to Carpro and they sent me the sds and the ph of descale according to the sds is ph2. Just passing the info along!

    @Detail_Antics@Detail_Antics8 ай бұрын
    • Interesting, as CarPro's USA website clearly states pH 6: www.carpro-us.com/wash/carpro-descale-acid-wash-500ml-17oz/ Perhaps once diluted in the bucket, it goes to pH 6 which could be a possibility. Many chemicals once diluted change pH levels. So perhaps the SDS sheet reflects the pH of the raw soap in the bottle, which would also make sense.

    • Dishwashing liquid is an old school trick from decades ago. Most stopped using that household item, in preference of actual stripping shampoos formulated for use on vehicles (Adam's Strip Wash, CarPro Descale, McKee's Coating Prep Shampoo, etc). And regardless what stripping shampoo you use, that only starts the braking down process of older protections. To ensure 100% removal, machine polishing is still needed.

    @paulroberts194@paulroberts1948 ай бұрын
    • I have spoken about this in many videos already, including the foam cannon battle ones. Maintenance of a foam cannon is stupid simple, but must be done after EVERY use. Once you are done with the foam cannon, empty the container. Rinse it out, and fill it with clean warm water. Run that through the foam cannon for 30-45 seconds to make sure you flush out any remaining soap or residue out of the internals. After that, let the parts air dry, and ready for next use. I never had a foam cannon block up or clog.

  • Pan - just found your channel a few days ago and love the content! Subscribed! 😃 This was a timely video for me today as I used my foam cannon today on my Porsche for the first time, and for only the second time overall. I realize washing cars is like religion and politics - everyone has an opinion, none of which are wrong. For me, I just don’t see the benefit of using a foam cannon. My cars never get that dirty here in Florida, and I am religious about keeping them coated in graphene coatings. I get the need to lubricate the surface before washing, but I can get that with simply using a foam gun. No, I don’t get the thick blanket of foam, but the surface gets lubricated. I love washing/detail my cars, but pulling out my pressure washer (and putting it back), is a pain in the ass time-suck for me, and just isn’t worth the results. What I have been doing is using some extra Griots waterless car wash or some detailer spray on the surface after an initial hose-off before using a two-mit hand wash. Seems to do well. Again, just my personal experience. I respect people enjoying the satisfaction of seeing their cars blanketed in foam, it’s just a bridge too far for me. 😜 P.S. - LOVE your Aventurine Turbo S!

    • @@PanTheOrganizer I needed help to clean a really dirty exterior. And this video helped. Can I mix an APC in the foam cannon along with my car shampoo?

      @State48Automotive@State48Automotive3 ай бұрын
    • I wouldn't mix products if you don't know what you're doing or can't guarantee the chemical compatibility. Just use a higher pH snow foam for the pre-wash, like Bilt Hamber Touch-Less, CarPro Lift, Armour Detail Supply Decon Soap, Koch Chemie Active Foam, etc those are already made for that specific use in the foam cannon. Or some like to spray some APC on the paint and then cover with their usual snow foam, let that dwell, rinse, and then do the contact wash. It depends what you plan on doing after the wash, and what type of protection is on your paint. If you have just a regular wax or sealant, an APC can start to weaken or brake that down. Even some weaker coatings could take a hit if you do that too often. If you don't have any protection and are just looking for a deep cleaning before you do some iron removal, and clay bar for example, then yes you can use the APC followed by the snow foam. But I would simply buy a higher pH snow foam.

    @kubapas6271@kubapas62718 ай бұрын
  • Great video Pan. I’ve noticed that European KZheadrs do snow foam differently than Americans. They like a runny snow foam. They always rinse after applying a snow foam and then they don’t reapply it. Your method is similar to how Matt Moreman washes his cars(although you’re more thorough)

    @jeffreyrobert9460@jeffreyrobert94608 ай бұрын
    • There are many ways to wash a car. There is not one single correct way. In fact, rarely do you see two channels wash cars the exact same way. I personally prefer a bit runnier foam (hence why I like the Bilt Hamber so much, and CarPro Lift) as they will drag the dirt down with them, but some prefer a thicker shaving cream like thickness. I don't really mind runny vs thick, as it comes down to personal preference. What's more important is what type of snow foam you are using. If it's a regular weekly maintenance, stick to pH neutral. If it's heavier grime removal, then aim for higher pH. As discussed in the video.

      @PanTheOrganizer@PanTheOrganizer8 ай бұрын
    • First off, grouping Americans in a single category is ridiculous, as Americans are all colors, races, creeds and ethnicities. That being said, everyone has their preferences. If you're happy with your results, do what you do. My favorite snow foam/pre-wash is Bilt Hamber Auto Foam which is very 'runny' but cleans like the dickens. But the traditional waxes I use don't care for it much so I use Turtle Wax Pure Wash as both my 'snow foam' and my bucket wash. Honestly it's on the runny side as well. I never cared for the 'shaving cream' type snow foams as they always felt to 'dry' for me. My car has been hit four times now parked at work, once I finally get it fixed and re-painted I'm going to use a ceramic coating and enjoy using the remainder of the BH Auto Foam gallon that's been sitting on my garage shelf

    • Seems like you’re confused a bit. For the pre-wash for weekly washes, use a pH neutral snow foam. Then for the contact wash use what ever pH neutral shampoo you want. Once in a while, for deeper cleaning of grime and road film, you would use an alkaline pH snow foam for the pre-wash, followed by a pH neutral shampoo for the contact wash.

I'll foam the car using a Marolex Axel Foamer with a bit of Koch-Chemie GSF and a small amount of my APC to give it a bit of bite. I'll let the foam dwell for a bit and spray the car down using the pressure washer. Then I pull out of the bay and spray the car down with ONR out of a spray bottle and use my Ego blower to dry it off. I'll then drive the car home and and give it a rinseless contact wash. This has been working well for me.

I find the pre rice foam gets rid of all that top surface and lose dirt off before doing the main contact wash. Car always comes out looking shiny and clean. I love that it can also be used in a snow canon so I use it as added lubricant during maintenance wash because I get cars that are parked outside and the dust is "baked" into the clear coat and I honestly can't imagine just doing a contact wash without first spraying the foam, waiting few minutes to kind of "melt" and lubricate it, rinse it and then snow foam it again and do the contact wash with RESET in my backet. 😃 Great informative video, Pan! Thank you 👌🙂. Question - where would you put carpro iron snow soap? Added lubricant? Regular maintenance wash? Or with Lift every 4-6 months? Thank you! 🙂

    • I prefer to use the stronger IronX when I need to do chemical decon on customer vehicles. And my car has carbon ceramic brakes, so I don't have iron particles and brake dust, so no need for such soaps in my case. I guess I would use IronX Snow Soap once every other month on a vehicle with steel rotors perhaps, kind of like Gyeon Restart Wash.

  • Great video Pan as usual. Thanks. So I will be receiving a brand new Matte paint car in the next month. I expect to ceramic coat it. I have Adam's car shampoo and CarPro Lift. If I understand, I should be using CArPro at first, then Iron and tar removal and Keyon soap before ceramic coating. Then for future wash, I should use Adam's. Does that make sense ?

  • I bought snowfoam years ago thinking that it would clean the car without touching it. BS! It's only great if your car sat in the garage clean and collected dust. That's about it. But like you said you have to be careful in the drying stages and use lubricants to prevent scratching. Thanks for your wisdom.

    • There are snow foams that actually do some deeper cleaning, but they are usually higher pH. Case in point, my video here: kzhead.info/sun/fJuzaMWippyIiYE/bejne.htmlsi=zICnd7RDEnvEMcgU But regardless, a snow foam is just part of the prewash. You still have to follow with a contact wash if you want 100% clean results. There’s no such thing as a touchless car wash at the moment.

  • Have been using CARPRO products lately and I can say its perfect and gorgeous! I saw you said to only use Lift for weekly basis, recently I have just use CARPRO Elixir on my non coated or ppf car, would like to know that is it safe to use it weekly or once per 2 week? There are some cars I don't drive daily but they are kept outdoors so is it safe to do weekly wash with Carpro lift on those too before I use reset to wash them?

  • Soap-foaming your vehicle helps loosen the grime and softens bird droppings, and bug splatter, and a bit of degreasing. Foam, let soak for a few minutes, and rinse. You should do this prior to contact washing. The use of soft water (water softeners) and filtering minerals, iron, and other possible contaminates is preferred if available but most people do not as they either reside in an apartment complex or their home is not set up which is not as simple as Pan has you believing because some people do not have the space or money to purchase all this Auto Detailing equipment. Do the best you can with what you have. Your automobile will never be as perfect as it was coming off the production/assembly line unless you start from scratch and spend a whole lot of money on doing it better than from the factory. Custom built that is, encased in glass or impenetrable container, to never be driven, only showcased. Again, do the best you can with the money you budgeted for keeping and maintaining your vehicle in drivable and clean condition [Safety First]. Just a reminder "Nothing lasts forever!".

    • The most important message I try to tell people is to go out there and enjoy taking care of your car. It should be a fun process. To me, it's not a chore. It's a soothing and relaxing experience. I want people to be able to make it a passion too. And yes, people can absolutely do a great job without having to spend thousands on fancy equipment and expensive products. When I started detailing at 16 years of age, I didn't have the budget I have today, and still made miracles happen. As I grew older, and my passion for detailing became an obsession, I could afford the better equipment and the more expensive products which allowed me to indulge in my passion further and create a channel too. There are good products at all price points. Find something you like, at a price you can afford, and enjoy using it. :)
