  • I lost my house in a fire in 2006 and along with it, my best friend, my dog. Among the many material items I lost, was an 1969 Omega Seamaster Soccer Timer Roulette I inherited from my father. I was wearing the 1969 Moonwatch. The house is still a pile of rubble and never thought that anything could be salvaged. This video has given me hope.

  • And this, friends, is why you should use independent watchmakers instead of the Rolex Service Centers. The independent watchmaker will offer creative ideas and allow you to do whatever you want with your watch (within reason and within the boundary of maintaining their parts account), like save the fire-burned dial to make the watch special to you. Rolex? They won't even give you a phone call to discuss it. They're slapping a service dial on it and you're paying for it. Period - no discussion. With the Rolex Service Center, there is no personal interaction, no relationship, no care other than pushing your watch through an assembly line of prescriptive restorations and moving onto the next one. Watchmakers like Peter treat every watch as something special, because it is. Use the independent watchmakers. Rolex Service Center wouldn't even have attempted this restoration.
