Total amateurs, not replacing all the fluids, hoses n checking electronic systems..don't get me going on the revving of the engine neither. I would never trust these guys with my car.

That guy is insane for starting that engine after so long without any previous maintenance (oil, oil filters, electronic systems, taking out the old gas, etc.) .

Agreed. Owner clearly has no respect/appreciation for cars as he just leaves them for years with no maintenance and then fires it up an hits limiter. Even if he has money to waste, you dont see Jay Leno doing this for example.
Agree -- should have turned the engine over without spark plugs and then drained and used new fuel. Obviously new oil and filter as a min. But i assume if you have that much money you dont care .
I'm sure they changed all of that during the actual repair. Him doing it once isn't going to hurt anything

NOTE - Dont fire it up without a full engine check before. High performance engine can cause damage if left to sit for ages.

@@GanymedeXDexactly, I heard they even had the car dismantled to strip for spare parts afterwards. As everyone can tell the engine and gearbox are completely broken. That's why the car wasn't touched in a very long time, it's not working. As they start the engine the backend of the car is smoking like crazy and they are just laughing their ass of. It is too obvious they knew it would start smoking and it doesnt matter if the fuel is old or the car breaks even more. It's not drivable anyways and already totalled. In this video the car was cleaned on the surface just for KZhead clicks. This kind of trash content nobody needs.
Yes, do the NSX next! That story of why the R8 got in that condition is not what I expected. Most cars have loose change under the seats when you remove them. Did this one have any loose 1oz bars of gold?

I hope you checked the coolant and oil before starting the engine. Because the smoke coming from it is not good at all. I hope there is no damage to the engine. Otherwise it will be very expensive. There is also another version of this engine in Bentley. It is a very precious jewel.

it's actually not that surprising to find a car like this in this condition. Many people buy these exotics and then the cost of maintenance and repairs become insanely expensive. Like buying a Bentley or Rolls Royce, it's one thing to be able to buy it, it's another thing to be able to drive and maintain it. Very very expensive and it puts a lot of them out of commission, but the good news is they can always be brought back.....you guys did a great job on this one for sure!
It's like people falling in love with old boats... Congrats for buying! To make it functional you will need 3 times the purchase price! And... that's how you end up with 90% of abandoned projects.
Bet thats not the problem … many of those buying such exotics have so many cars … they simply lose track of where they stored them all … as if maintenance is an issue for them … still cheaper than owning a boat …

The end result was amazing… and I would love to see the NSX get some detail love too… but oh man I hope now that the R8 is cleaned up that it gets all of it’s issues sorted and becomes a well maintained and beloved car, perhaps with an owner who is more focused on keeping it running.
It never ceases to amaze me that a car like this would be left to the elements! I would have taken it to a vehicle storage facility, at least. Give me a proper manual gear box! MERRY CHRISTMAS GUYS! Looking forward to more in 24!!!

My thoughts exactly, I thought it was reckless trying to start it up without first finding out the condition of the engine! Did they even know if there was any oil left in it? And then they revved it several times from a cold start! Talk about a rough return to life for this car 😆

i honestly love the owner who was like: ok let's park it over there, without nothing on it, it's a r8 so it's a cheap car right?? ok jokes aside, i hope he will be able to restore it and put it on the road once again. man it's devastating to see such a car like that in those conditions but i understand that the corona years were really hard to swallow. btw i prefer manual on my cars, and those exaust in the end were heaven

Who fires up ANY car that has sat that long without fluid changes and a really good inspection before doing so let alone doing it to a V10 Audi. Excuse for not moving it is air ride issues and battery access? Give your head a shake. Removing two compressors and a tub to access a battery would take less than 10 minutes. Run some temporary lines even just to get that car off the ground. Within an hour I could have had that up off the ground. Nope, let’s winched it sideways as it drags itself along. Freakin’ joke man. Then fires it up and revs it. 🤮

It's abandoned because mice chewed holes in the air ride suspension, and he can't figure out how to change the battery. That's it.

If the Audi R8 is your dream car, you will get it -- good luck! Mine is a Nissan R35 GTR or a Lexus LC 500 -- I got to sit in the former of 2 different types and it's unforgettable! As an R8 Spyder owner…I’m shocked they let this thing get that bad. I treat mine better than my wife. #JustSayin Glad it’s cleaned up and hopefully they take care of it now or sell it to someone who will take care of it.
yeah. I mean even if you can't move it anymore... why not closing the freaking windows? because battery is dead? that's insane excuse there. Same as for the rest, you can still get a freaking cover and get it at least kind of secured/sealed...

I worked hard on my career for 15 years that’s a 50 hour a week job in sales & marketing, and I have a car KZhead channel that took me 6 years and 300 videos to get to 100,000 subscribers. I shot videos when I’m not working, and i edited videos while most people are sleeping. Things did not come easy for me but I kept at it.
