Full restoration of abandoned 1950 ROLEX mechanical watch

In 1950, the Rolex Oister perpetual did not have that white plastic ring around the mechanism, and it did not have that window in the dial at the balance wheel. It was just made in a different way. It pained me to see how he handled the balance spring, how the screws in the assembly jumped all over the place, how he handled the dial with the metal pliers, how he used the hammer to fix the glasses. This is an apprentice blacksmith who teased us with a fake Rolex, possibly made in China.

Great to see a master watchmaker at work. I loved how he ‘cleaned’ the balance spring with a paintbrush, how he lumped the pallet fork with all the rusty screws, & how he dis-assembled the second hand into two distinct pieces. It was good to see how the ruined balance spring fixed itself during reassembly…

Вообще то стрелки все на 12 ставятся и есть специальный пресс для установки стекла и задней крышки. А здесь молоточком всё собирается.

I am a 90 year old. In 1950 I was given an Enicar - Generic Racine? Self-winding watch which did keep better time than a regular wind up time piece. I ended up losing it at the beach. Last year for old time’s sake I bought a Baltic brand auto mechanical which also keeps surprisingly good time.

What a gentle and skillful craftmanship of restoring a cheap Chinese movement!! Wish at least he put in the effort to fake with a better replica to fool 1.6 million viewers but felt amazed at the audacity of his handling of the balance wheel along with the hair spring and the escapement lever along with the screws!! Wish every watch maker could treat the same to save them a tonne of time and effort!!

У меня слезы шли, когда я смотрел какими он инструментами ковыряет эти часы. Купи новые инструменты, подонок! Железным пинцетом браться за циферблат это вообще сверх разум! А отмывка деталей это отдельный разговор. Проще взять консервный бутыль и накрутить его на шуруповерт, так будет безопасней, а то как начал ковырять маятник, у меня разрыв пердака случился. Короче: Лучше бы их никто не нашел. Умерли бы и не мучал бы их никто. Часовой мастер это прежде всего эстетика и чистота, особенно аккуратность. Кстати... он таки сломал секундную стрелку)))) поставил новую. Короче: Видео о том, как запрещено чинить такие нежные и хрупкие вещи

Take a fake Rolex and video it when it's new. Mess it up and place it on a rubbish tip. Take it apart and clean it up. Then add to the end of the video what you shot earlier when it was new. Not so much a master watch repairer, more a master video editor.

I am a 90 year old. In 1950 I was given an Enicar - Generic Racine? Self-winding watch which did keep better time than a regular wind up time piece. I ended up losing it at the beach. Last year for old time’s sake I bought a Baltic brand auto mechanical which also keeps surprisingly good time.

Take a fake Rolex and video it when it's new. Mess it up and place it on a rubbish tip. Take it apart and clean it up. Then add to the end of the video what you shot earlier when it was new. Not so much a master watch repairer, more a master video editor.
