  • Hey Mitch. You definitely need to wear a respirator when cleaning a car that had or has mice in it. My brother is a paramedic and said it can be deadly for your lungs to breathe in the toxic air due to mice. Be careful and we love you. This detail was a blast to watch. Amazing before and afters 😍

I really liked going for drives with my brother, not to mention he was an ace driver and learned alot from him being in the car with him. This video brings back magical memories.❤

  • Not only have I seen this car before but I used to own one. I had a 1987 XT Turbo in Red. The car was like a space ship on the inside. There were no dials at all, only buttons and switches. The height adjustment was a really cool feature. It would give you 4" in the front and 6" in the rear for clearance. The entire dash was all digital and the glow at night was impressive. It handled very well in the snow with the 4WD. I remember taking it when I went skiing. Never had an issue. Owned it for a couple of years until I bought a New 1989 Turbo Trans Am in Black. Now that was a car!

  • Such a worthy car for a full restoration. You just don’t see many of them out there anymore, and from what I’ve read about the XT, only 98,918 were ever produced in total for the worldwide market over its short, 6 year run - 1985 to 1991. It’d be a real shame not to have someone give that thing the love it deserves…

Nice work, this really takes me back. Good luck getting it stuck in a snowbank, one winter I hydroplaned in slush off the hwy in the Pine Pass. Went 15' down a bank, steered straight the whole way down, and when we towed it straight back out I was able to drive it into town. No problem. Second all-time favourite to my Datsun 260z.

The problem that I had with it was the fact that most people would stare at you while driving it. As a rare car collector, it is a car that I would most likely buy. The Subaru's of that time were very well known for rusting rather quickly. A lot of them didn't make it much past 10 years old due to rust and being very unsafe because of the rust. It's a cool car that I hope does get driven again.

  • I detailed our three cars this summer. I had bought the Detail Geek brushes that go in my drill to scrub the carpets, seats and cloth surfaces. The worst spot was my sister in laws car (1990 Miata one-owner) where she had spilled coffee into the carpet bunches of times through the years. I ended up pressure washing that area over and over and over until the water came out clear. The brushes did an amazing job just like you see in these videos. All cars interiors came out looking like new. Highly recommend those brushes!

  • Yeah, an update would be great. I'm assuming the mechanicals can be sorted pretty much, but the body looks like it has severe rust issues and finding replacement panels is going to be difficult, even finding a donor car isn't going to be easy. Your work at getting it looking as good as it does is amazing as always.

  • Beautiful detail job. My husband owned a 1989 and a 1990 XT6 for a while. Those were fun to drive! The biggest problems with them as they aged were rust problems and snapping bolts on the one that we got that had lived in the northeastern U.S. before we got it and occasional oil leaks. If you work on one that has been in wintery climates, you really need a good helicoil and drill out set to deal with snapping bolts regularly. One of the biggest reasons that more of these don't survive though, is because they used a special fluid for the power steering system. Once Subaru stopped making them, the special fluid became as rare as hen's teeth after a while.

It’s a bit of work to get them running and driving properly. They are weirdly engineered and VERY complicated, but seriously fun to drive! And restoring it will be an even bigger undertaking. Like most XTs they’ll either get it running and enjoy it as is, or part it out. Cool find, awesome cleaning job!
