People always say “it’s just hair, it’ll grow back” but when you’ve been growing your hair out for YEARS, cutting it all off is heartbreaking.
Well if you think about it, if someone was bald and grew their hair for a year they would most likely have shoulder length hair so when they cut all of their waist length hair off it will take literally years to grow back. I also cringe when they dye virgin hair but i love virgin hair more than anything, but that one is more forgiving i think.

I've always thought it was ridiculous that they force a short haircut on a girl with really long hair in every season. Sometimes it looks great, but other times I feel like they do it for the drama and shock value, and not because it's the best thing for that particular girl's look. They know that people tune in to see some poor girl crying.

Exactly. It really tells a lot about a person when they mock someone else and act higher despite not having to go through it. Brad Mondo really pissed me off in this one. Most girls are taught pretty = lovable. There's also a REASON hair is an important part in many religions and people have sworn to never cut their hair. These people need to learn that being mean doesn't make you interesting.

To me it just shows how much the industry has changed. They are using uniqueness and less marketable features as an edge or attribute. Towards the later years she was dying people hair red white and blue because it’s trendy now. She hired models with vitiligo and transgender and all kinds of things because “different is trendy”. Its exploitive and insulting if you really think about why they do it now.
well time and fashion change alot, when Danielle (cycle 5) was on the show, covergirl didnt wanted a tooth gaped model so she needed to do that in order to win, in cycle 15 with Chelsey, already were succesful models with tooth gap like lara stone, thats 10 cycles later!... in the case of Camille and Eboni it was less time (3 cycles apart), but tbh Camille had regular braids with wrong hair color , Eboni had microbraids that were in that moment in fashion that are slimmer than camille ones, and she looked so sexy , i actually think the microbraids elevate her look

People make fun of girls for crying whenever they cut their long hair off, but it takes *years* to get that length. Just imagine maintaining long, healthy, beautiful hair, trying your best to not damage it, then all that care, time, and money goes down the drain in an instant
I mean.. People are making fun because the fact these girls auditioned AND got on a show to be a model, which they knew damn well they were going to do something drastic to their hair. You don't want your hair chopped, dyed off then uhhh don't go on a show? If you want to be a model, you have to do things they want you to do, if you can't do that then don't be one. It's simple. Modeling is very cut throat, they WANT you to stick out.

Brad you do know they wanted to cut her hair again. Cause it wasn’t the hair Tyra wanted for her. I honestly believe they were just trying to humiliate her an that’s when she drew the line. I’m proud that at least one of these girls has a brain and knew when enough is enough.
You are right about that, but actually if they cut it short like they did seasons after with I think was Molly Suh, she would have looked so good, she actually looked really beautiful with short hair styled to the front like the reference picture, but I think that when she drew the line and didn't let them cut it more THERE they decided to hummiliate her, giving her that weird styling

I love brad but GOD do i hate when he mocks girls with LONG virgin hair cries when they tell them they are chopping it all off. It is easy for a dude with short hair to imagine doing it but it is different actually being in that situation...it takes so many years to get long healthy looking hair 😭

Rachel Recycles there’s no maintenance really, you just wear the typical bonnet/scarf maybe grease or oil your scalp every once in awhile, some people wash it but there’s really no need black hair can go awhile without a was.......I kept my micro braids in for 3 months there was plenty of new growth it’s an amazing and easy protective style

A lot of these girls are also 18-20. It's easy to make fun of them, but many of them are essentially still children from an emotional standpoint.

My thing about these makeovers is...no matter if you think someone would look "better" with a style, if it's not a style they're confident with, they will always look worse after with because they won't have the confidence to pull it off. They should really take into consideration what the girls' limits are and do makeovers that are within those bounds. Destroying someone's self confidence isn't cute, especially for a show that isn't actually taken seriously in the industry.
This was probably the most popular season. Listening to it now.... I can't believe the things they said and how they wanted the girls to become completely different people after the makeovers. That would never fly today.

I’ve noticed that too. They put wigs and extensions on girls with short hair and then the ones with super long hair, get super short hair cuts. I just don’t get it 😂
It’s rare but that have kept length on some girls (Heather S9, Julie S3, Natalie S12, Anchal S7, Nicole on this cycle)

I myself have fine and rather thin hair and even though I love long beautiful hair I have to keep mine maximum a shoulder length to make it look at least a little more voluminous. I've spent 15 years growing my hair. Ain't no fuggin' way I'd accept someone telling me I had to cut it off. Noooooooope. I may constantly sit on it and get it caught in my waistband, but I am quite literally obsessed with super long hair. WORTH IT
same. I had a terrible haircut at 17 and most of my hair broke off shorter than chin length- now I have it to my chest again (7-8 year of growth) and I´d never cut it for any job.
Well do remember that these girls know what they're getting into. If they are completely against cutting it they shouldn't be on a show where the main thing is changing hair. I agree though, I would never chop off my hair.
Fair enough, but I think it's really sad that we, as women, are defined by our hair. When I had hair down to my waist, people would only comment on that and nothing else. Not, "Oh you look so pretty!," but instead, "Your hair makes you look pretty." So I cut it all off cuz I'm more than just my hair! To each their own, though.

That poor Clarissa girl. They 100% did it on purpose, they do it every season to the girl who’s got long hair. Like yes, it’s just hair, but it’s also something that people put money and time into and it was all taken away from her just like that. It doesn’t even fit her face shape, she looks much older and would have looked better with maybe a hair cut but not that extreme of one.

@@manajean6232 Well, Tyra actually wanted her to cut it shorter later because it was not what she had wanted (she said at the evaluation that the hair was supposed to be shorter), Cassandra didn't want to cut it shorter tho and left the show and got extensions to fix it
I would be sobbing if they cut my hair. It took literally a year and a half for my hair to grow a few centimetres. I understand why someone would be upset if they went from medium or long hair to extremely short hair, so we should be a little bit more understanding.

Hair in a year grows about 6 inches (about 15 cm) but I also have the same problem with growing out my hair

i had to get my hair cut (almost shaved) when i was a little younger then i am now and it took 3 and a half years to get it to the length it’s at now. i’m afraid of cutting it because it grows so slow and it’s the reason i have confidence in the first place. i honestly would’ve left if they told me they where cutting it THAT short.
Why not get extensions then? Or weave, whichever works best for you

You might wanna show a little more compassion for the girls who cry. Imagine all that work and time it took to get their hair long or luscious and being suddenly cut away just for shock value and ratings.

Little Flower apart of the industry is putting up with shit you don’t like and changing your look for the client because that’s your job. Obviously it’s a cause for concern if they’re doing the hair wrong but if they cut it, and it still looks good, you know what you signed up for and the potential for this to happen. If they didn’t want their hair cut shouldn’t have signed up.

Love your comment but I just want to make a tiny correction! Mia Farrow cut her hair short before Rosemary's Baby began filming. Vidal Sassoon styled it for the movie but the cut was all Mia. Few women went so short during that time so it was a pretty big deal.
