Before you ask, yes, I was wearing gloves ironically while I made the curry. It was a little joke for all of those people that get annoyed at me for wearing gloves while I'm woodturning.

This piece of Elm has been sanded up to 1500 grit and finished with 5 coats of Danish oil ... shiny!

Yes, I'm aware that wearing gloves while woodturning is considered an unsafe practise. The gloves I wear are tight fitting and don’t have any loose threads. I wear them for the protection of my skin. This is a risk that I am willing to take, however I am still very conscious of the potential danger and I do not touch any spinning parts of the lathe. DO NOT do anything you don’t feel comfortable doing.

We have Hello Fresh too. We both lost 2-3 stones during lockdown with it!! When it was all over and everybody came outside again, all of our friends and neighbours had piled about 2stone on and we’d lost it!!! Way to go Hello Fresh and the NOOM diet!!!! And also to Harry for make something beautiful from someone else’s rubbish!!! 😍😍😍

Hi Harry the answer to your question is yes if you are turning the Elm, I knew you'd turn something cool. The Elm is a beautiful piece of wood its got great grain and markings and a beautiful colour. The winged bowl is fantastic and the finish you have used really makes it shine and brings the grain and markings out. I'm glad you wear gloves it's called safety. Thanks for that video, Harry. I had no idea Elm was that beautiful when it was finished. I used to heat with wood, and always liked Elm because of it’s twisted grain. The “strings” would catch fire faster & easier. Thanks for sharing.

As a kid, my father had a lathe that we turned replacement baluster for our farm house stair. I didn’t like ‘knot’ being able to see the surface I was cutting so I added an adjustable strobe light which was actually our timing Gun for adjusting timing on our truck engine. Worked well to see fine detail and match template profile.
I love it! It always amazes me that you can take a simple piece of wood and make something amazing.

@@HarrySmithShorts Hmmmm. My own thoughts on the matter are that you should probably major in Wood chips and only learn enough about the other stuff to get you through Uni. Although being able to cook is an essential survival skill.

Where do you get your inlays made for the bottom of your bowls? I am trying to fin da good way to personalize bowls I turn and am not having great luck with a branding iron I bought- there are too many variables to be consistent and I don't want to ruin too many bowls to perfect it. The inlay seems a perfect solution.

Hi Harry, That is a beautiful piece of work but unfortunately will be that last video of yours I watch. I have followed you for quite a while because I like what you do as a wood turner. If I want to watch a cooking video I watch a cooking video. We used Hello Fresh for quite a while but in the end found their recipes monotonous in the meats they provided so stopped using them. I know you are using YT as your source of income and need sponsors to make it work but unfortunately I don't like it when a turning video is interrupted to watch a sponsors attempt to gain more customers. Hi Huw, It's sad to hear that you have chosen to stop watching Harry due to your poor experiences with Hello Fresh and the adverts contained on his channel. I'm also not a fan of adverts, but I skip them, much like I do when I watch TV programmes that I have recorded. I do however like having further insight into Harry's life and finding out about his degree in the description.
