Woodturning - You Won't Believe What You Can Do With This!
This piece is for SALE! Send me an email if you're interested 😁
So this piece of English Oak has been outside for a while now... I'm sure you could tell. I was never 100% sure of what I wanted to do with it, but the idea came to mind when I started turning. I didn't want to waste the angled part at the top so decided to make it a feature.
The bread bin has been sanded to 10000 grit and finished with Danish oil and Wood wax.
The main body is English oak, the lid is Sapele, and the handle is African blackwood.
Let me know what you think!

My videos are for entertainment purposes only. I am still relatively new to woodturning and some of my techniques might not be the "best" or safest. When using any tools or machinery always read and understand safety/manufacturers guidelines.
Yes, I'm aware that wearing gloves while woodturning is considered an unsafe practise. The gloves I wear are tight fitting and don’t have any loose threads. I wear them for the protection of my skin. This is a risk that I am willing to take, however I am still very conscious of the potential danger and I do not touch any spinning parts of the lathe. DO NOT do anything you don’t feel comfortable doing.

If I turned something like that, it would never be for sale, instead it would become a family airloom. Awesome Harry, Cheers

@@HarrySmithShorts Picking up a lump of wood and seeing whats hiding inside, then when it's finished it's pretty close to what you saw. Turning is only a small part of my retirement as i do all sorts of woodwork and lots of helping the wife in the garden. Cheers

Totally unexpected. The asymmetry is surprisingly beautiful. I'm always trying to make all my turnings as perfect and symmetrical as possible. I see now that this way is more eye catching and artful.
That is the difference between "turning a bowl" and "making art" - so beautiful and inspiring!

I was thinking the same thing. I had no idea that was going to be a lid. This guy is an absolute master. I’ve always wanted to try wood turning. The lathe is just so intimidating. But I guess it’s just like any other tool, it just takes practice and time to get good and comfortable with it.
