"Ave Maria" has been performed by over 3,000 people in its lifetime, and Dimash proves again why he's qualified to bring in one more attempt. This performance is jaw dropping, and the notes he consistently is able to hit never ceases to amaze me.
Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to Dimash Kudaibergen performing for the first time "Ave Maria” live.

  • Actually this piece was deliberately titled “Ave, Maria” at Dimash’s express request. Mary the mother of Jesus is the only woman mentioned in the Quran multiple times. She is revered by Muslims as a woman of purity and the mother of a great profit. This setting has no words not to show off Dimash’s facility with vocalese techniques, but because being a devout and very spiritual Muslim, he cannot sing the words “mother of God.” Hence he and Igor chose not to alter the known prayer by not using words at all. They deliberately made it their prayer of the soul. Here Dimash gives us the perfect master class for countertenors, finished off with an exquisite messa di voce on High C. Magnificent! Thank you for another brilliant reaction.

  • In the midst of the global pandemic, I randomly came across and played SOS by Dimash Quadaibergen from the Singer competition and was stunned by his voice and have come to listen to him daily. He has a remarkable gift so unique and rare! In the 19th Century Jenny Lind was the unique singer who touched so many with her voice, but there are no recordings of what she sounded like. Dismash was born in the age of technology and we are blessed to be able to appreciate his gift. He is often called an alien from another planet but it is clear that he is not, but rather a disciplined and hard-working human being who was born into a loving family and understands the blessings he was given. I believe in my heart that he was blessed by God who touched his soul and bestowed on him this gift. If I ever had the opportunity to meet Dismash, I would not want his signature nor to pose for a picture with him. I would only want to touch his hand for a moment. It would be the closest opportunity for me to be near the grace of God who touched a fellow human being. I have watched his growth over the years and he has a young heart and is developing the talent he was blessed with. The range of his dream is amazing and he works constantly on it. He learned so much from his time at the Singer competition and it helped to show him what he had to offer to the world. He knows he needs to bring his gift to all and there are many challenges for him. The last three songs he presented, Stranger, Fly Away and Ave Maria seem to be a message to his fans and to the world about his future. I believe the combination of the three offer a special message. He has so far been focused on the Easter Hemisphere and on the verge of exploring the Western World. The first two songs were in English, a Western language, but in the lyrics, he lays out what he hopes to do. New ground Far as I can see New ground Underneath my feet Stranger In a stranger’s land New chance to know who I am If I have the strength To begin again He is embarking to a new ground, a new world beyond his beloved home. He will be a stranger in a stranger’s world and hopes to have the strength to begin this new quest. His second song from this trio is Fly Away and is also done in English. This song I feel is telling his Eastern Hemisphere land why he must go and find his way, looking for a fulfillment that he is destined for in a stranger’s land. Set me free! I want to fly away! Do you really think you know me? Do you really think you know..? I’ll fly away to find my way. Set me free! I want to fly away! Where nobody can control me. I’m looking for something more. I will fly away to find my way. The last song is the wordless Ave Maria. There are only two words and it is in the title. No, it is not English but Latin very familiar to the Western world. Ave Maria translates to Hail Mary. Mary to the Christian World is a mother figure and much beloved and is also found in the Quran. He uses his voice to reach the soul of those listening with the power of his vocals and by doing this makes it a universal song. Dimash has demonstrated his devotion and humanity in many humble ways. The music field in the Western World is an entirely different entity. But who are we to stop a young man who was given a gift to share with the whole world? There will be many temptations in his path and I believe he knows what lies ahead and as a person who appreciates his talents, I wish his well and offer my support.

    • Thank you for your beautiful comment that I can relate with the same experiences. I love your comment about Stranger, Fly Away and Ave Maria, new insight about Dimash for me. I just recently came across Dimash (04/2023) and since then I listen to him and reactions to his performances several hours each day. I don't listen to music very often, just once in a while when a few interesting reactions of songs pop up on KZhead, I might listen for a few days and that's it. It's totally different with Dimash, I have so much to discover this wonderful God blessed human being. I prayed for him daily that God protects him from any "contamination" so that he stays humble, sharing his God-given gift to promote love, unity and peace around the world.

  • It`s so moving, that Dimash as a Muslim asked Igor as a Jew to compose a catholic prayer. The choice to vocalize gives freedom to the listener to find his own words for the prayer in every religion. So this song can bring religions together and connect people. I love this. And your analysis shows, that he didn`t do this in a simple way. Dimash is gorgeous. Please react to Ikanaide and Omir Oter next.

How many people were arrested and prosecuted in USA after Biden stole the election from Trump? How about how many people were arrested and put in jail for defining the COVID19 restrictions across the Europe? If Putin only put 400 people in jail because they are traitors and or thieves like Navalny, he is basically a saint. Next, you want to talk about legitimacy of a political leader through the years he is in power? That's very... trollish. How about German Merkel who in power for 16 years? According to you she was a tyrant too. How about the king of Saudi Arabia? You want your country to cut political ties with it too and bomb it into "freedom and democracy"? How about Eamon de Valera of Ireland(37 years of ruling)? You want to go ahead and tell the Irish that they were living under the oppressive regime or you you want to STFU? Cry me a river, delinquent degenerate. Russia is the most democratic country in comparison to any Western country, you just don't posses enough intellect to realize it.

  • It's difficult to not constantly seem hyberbolic when discussing Dimash, but here I feel comfortable in saying the final two seconds or so of this is the purest, clearest, crystalline tone I've ever heard from a singer. Then, as it producing a perfect sound isn't enough, he puts the tiniest bit of vibrato on it, spinning it like a resonant snowflake trailing off through the ether. So incredibly masterful. I appreciate your discussion of the absence of lyric here. I'm all for some Latin libretto, but even the most current "Ave Maria" with lyrics by its nature brings with it a bit of heaviness, the past. Not to veer too far into the spiritual, I came away with an overall feeling of DImash & Krutoy conveying an entirely new form of connection with the spiritual resonance, accessed purely by the voice in its purest form, a simple vowel elevated to compelling heights. I also noted with interest your discussion of his arm movements. It was entranced on the first viewing and thought it was simply an expression of the all-encompassing compassion, empathy, etc., that is often associated with the the eponymous Virgin Mary (taking it really religiously here), but it does make perfect sense that the sheer physicality of it would definitely aid in reaching those high notes. Also, purely for curiosity's sake, around the @17:45 mark, there's a definite shift in Dimash's posture and even his mouth shape, one of (if not the) first times we see his teeth. I wonder if that's something happening physically along with his emotion, or of there's some added tonal quality with spreading the aperture a smidge wider to expose the teeth that he's utilizing here. Thanks for the analysis!

  • I'm thinking as a muslim he wasnt gonna sing the traditional ava maria since its a christian prayer, right? He said he wanted it to be a prayer without words so anyone from any religion could see it as a prayer to whatever god/s they worship- whereas the schubert version is specifically christian. I think it does work as a wordless prayer to any god if someone wants to think of it like that. The name lets you know it is a prayer to god too. As an athiest I just love the sound and his vocal mastery- and I'd still describe it as 'angelic'. Thanks for the great reaction.

  • The clouds, his eyes, the choir, starting a cappella, his face before he starts, the purity of sound, absolutely Divine sound from above. The first time I viewed this, from the moment I saw Dimash at the mic, moving slowly to the mic and bowing his head, closing his eyes, something transcendent coming thru his body and face.....and then.....that first tone…….my eyes filled with tears......thru the entire piece.....and each time I've watched again…..the sheer etherial sublime heavenly beauty of his sound coupled with emotions of hope and compassion…….Even the choir is applauding. I think it’s more than the “vocals” he is using that is so appealing but the resonant beauty and the heart centered feeling of those vocals that is gripping and so moving….his singing radiates a light out over the world bringing much needed… warmth.....healing......comfort……radiance ……transcendence..…….. 🧚‍♂️ I once heard that if you really know the Divine you move away from talking about "it", analyzing it, conceptualizing it and building monuments to it. If you have to discuss, analyze and conceptualize then you do not really "know" the Divine. It is as if Dimash is so connected, he communicates at the Divine level not thru words, but simply resonates vibrationally without words....he "knows....and therefor has no need for words, concepts and ideas.....just pure sound vibrations at the level of the Divine.

  • Schubert's Ave Maria is the one that comes to mind first because of its extensive ceremonial and liturgical use. This new Hail Mary vocalized masterfully and wonderfully by Dimash is an original work by the great musician, composer and pianist of today Igor Krutoy, (also a very successful businessman, and wealthy show business entrepreneur for those that don't know him). It is not even similar to the classic Schubert or Gounod which are the best known. Although it bears some resemblance to another (of the many Ave Maria's that exist), the aria by the Russian composer Vladimir Vavilov (sometimes erroneously attributed to Giulio Caccini), it is neither a version, much less a plagiarism. Krutoy composed it at Dimash's request. That it doesn't have any letters is also very striking. I think it is a hymn to unity and harmony among human beings. A way of saying that no matter how we worship God, we can all be saved and enjoy the Divine Glory. And if it is sung by someone whose voice and presence suggest being before an Angel, the message is even clearer. It's a beautiful work dedicated to the mother of Jesus created by a Jew and sung by a Muslim. Something very significant and also symbolic in my opinion, one more proof that God has chosen Dimash as Messenger of Peace, although perhaps he doesn't know it himself.

  • Elizabeth, excellent analysis as usual. When I first heard DK sing this version and his purity without lyrics I stumbled on a viewpoint whereby DK Dears are all over the world, multi cultural and multi lingual, pan-religious as well. What better way to penetrate the soul by vocalize, massage the soul, tear away the protective veneers, as he heals in a small way woven with hope. The long note at the end is to me like a time portal allowing the soul and body to rejoin planting ones feet back on mother terra. I believe that Dimash meditates which would not surprise me. If you are good at it, you are able to get that same feeling which he incorporates into his music. I enjoyed your review. Best to you during the holidays!

  • Aside from the beauty, clarity, technical skill and passion you so artfully detailed, the slow swells and pitch changes reaching higher and that lovely topside rollover... it definitely was that Beautiful soft onset growing into an intense messa de voce with vibrato, THEN cutting the vibrato completely and dropping into a pure tone and slowly reintroducing the vibrato!! That just boosted it right over the top from the higher shift in the previous phrase... I just sat there with my eyes wide thinking D-a-a-a-a-ang! Dimash is beyond any superlatives I can offer...

  • In my mind's eye, considering that it's the prayer, the Hail Mary, I imagined the stage to be like inside a temple because of the columns, there is a quietness within, what many churches are like when empty or just a few privately praying, but the sounds of life outside filters in, like people outside a temple passing by herding their animals so you hear maybe sheep, or donkey or camel bells, or maybe the priests preparing incense in their jars and that's the tinkling sounds, and maybe some water feature sound, the mist within resembling clouds, we associate angels with clouds. It didn't happen in a temple, but they're portraying it as a holy scene. Just my thoughts.

      @haruyanto8085@haruyanto80852 жыл бұрын
    • @@haruyanto8085 Muslims have great respect for Miriam and Jesus. They view Jesus as a holy prophet and Miriam (Mary) is written of in the Quran, and they give the Mother of the prophet more respect than many Christians. The reason why he wouldn't sing the words is that the song has the lyrics, "Holy Mary, Mother of God'. That, he of course couldn't say as a Muslim, and probably why he did the song as a vocalise. Besides the music was composed before the lyrics, and the Ave Maria lyrics were not the original lyrics to the composition in any case. If you see Muslim temples, they're pretty magnificent, and likely the building fashion of time, with columns as such. The team just kept the concept of holiness. Like I said, just my thoughts.

I have never actually seen a camel in its natural habitat (meaning outside of a circus) so a bell on one never occurred to me. Of course there are herds of them owned by various desert people so bells work for them just as they work for anybody else with any kind of herd. I should have thought of that. Goats, yes, that did occur to me but not for sheep for some dumb reason... I think I really am going senile. Anyway, cool ideas. :)

I think you did a reaction some time back to "Autumn Strong," which was the Chinese translation of the song (albeit with altered as well as translated lyrics), but Ikanaide (pronounced something like "EE-ka-na-ee-deh") is the original Japanese song that "Autumn Strong" was based on. So you will be familiar with the tune already, but hearing a newer performance with the original lyrics will show how much Dimash has matured vocally in such a short amount of time from his "I Am Singer" days, plus you'll get to hear his lovely Japanese pronunciation that various Japanese reviewers have been raving over because apparently it's extremely good for a foreign singer. And as always, his voice is absolutely stunning, though it just keeps sounding better and better over time.

  • Dimash has completed his studies in various areas of his craft including composition and I read that he send a 'draft' tape of this to Igor for further refinement - so it seems they both composed & arranged this piece together. I think there is nothing that Dimash does on stage - every note - every breath - every facial expression - every body movement - that is unintentional. Everything is built towards the perfection of the piece. That includes the way he adjusts his stance to maximise his access to his diaphragm and his whole support system. Even the way he conducts himself with his hands is fine tuning of his neurological support to each note. [ You will see in his latest SOS how he 'draws the steady line' of that final note ] It may now have become habitual - but it's certainly not by accident. But you're right - most people without training wouldn't necessarily pick up on all the complexities of what Dimash is doing here. Your 'unpack' is really interesting and educational. But at the end of the day... we just close our eyes and 'float' with him. 😍

  • I've been waiting to hear something about the scene setting before he sings. I hear very strongly cow bells which kind of puts us into ancient shepherd land, pastoral? The other thing that's very striking is the heartbeat slowing down and stopping, with Dimash's facial expressions becoming very very serious, almost with a look of contrition, the moment of death and accountability! Then we go to the spirit world, or heaven.. Until we reach the ultimate purity of that final note.. Its almost like the opposite of a flatline which expresses death in the earthy world, this is a pure longheld tone in the spirit world, denoting new life!

  • Luv how you appreciate this at such a deep level - and repeat the video to really help your audience appreciate this in such fine detail.....this is like taking a real voice class analyzing great important details ...yes those opening notes and FINAL note!!...and to sing them so delicately, every so lightly, no volume or pressing on the voice....it would be so easy for nerves to shake that up...but he is so steady....in a silent hall....that is real mastery!!! THIS INFORMATION about how Igor created this piece for DQ IS FROM BECKY NICHOLAS: Igor wrote, on his Instagram a short essay about happiness, and tells us how "AVE MARIA" was born: "Italians like to say that a composer is worth exactly as much as his last work, ie, all previous successes and achievements do not count... I was very attentive to this rather controversial and categorical statement of representatives of this very musical country ( both in the past and in the present) and I began to consider my new compositions through the prism of Italians... One evening, about three months before the "New Wave", Dimash called me and asked if I could write "Ave Maria " for him, explaining that he wanted to sing something in that style... Coincidentally I had a free evening and I gladly sat down at the piano and, remembering the Italian formula of responsibility, worked with inspiration until I achieved the desired result. . . After taking a few days for the composition to "rest" in my ears, soul and heart, I sent it to Dimash, who literally within half an hour answered that it was exactly what he wanted to hear. And of course, the reception and applause given to Dimash by the audience at the "New Wave" show what a happiness it is to do what I love, to write for such a genius singer, to evoke deep emotion in the audience and to be in demand... Just a short essay on " What is happiness?” instagram.com/tv/CTkksWxINr6/? 💙🤗💙🤗💙🤗💙🤗💙🤗💙
