  • In some of your previous reaction , you have referred to Dimash's high register as falsetto. He has said that before he reached puberty, he was often asked to sing soprano parts in his school choir and that when his voice changed he gained the lower registers without losing his ability to sing soprano. Isn't soprano register different than singing in falsetto? Enjoy watching your reactions. Greetings from California.

    • soprano refer to range, while falsetto is register. so you can hit soprano note (around 6th octave) using falsetto or headvoice or even mix

    • Great question! Soprano isn't technically a vocal register. There are only 5 registers, from lowest to highest: vocal fry (pulse), chest voice, head voice, falsetto/flute, and whistle tone. Soprano is a vocal range and/or voice type - so Dimash can still sing the highest voice type, but he would be singing in that range using both his head voice and falsetto, and very occasionally whistle tone. This is one of the most comprehensive and science-based articles I've found on vocal registration. I think you might enjoy it: www.ncvs.org/pas/2004/pres/thurman/ThurmanPaper.htm On my channel, there's an interview I made with Grammy-winner John Brancy, where we discuss male voices and how he also maintained access to his higher voice while going through puberty, and into adulthood. It's also incredibly insightful! I'm going to pin this question, because a lot of people had similar questions. Thank you for asking it, Linda!!

  • Yes, Dimash loves to improvise on stage. He seems to indulge fully in the sounds in his head and begin composing on stage. He has sung this song dozens of times live and always performs it differently. And he always slays.This little ''bubbles'' in his voice stunned me every time. • Know came out quite some time ago and it was originally called Ascolta da Voce, meaning Listen to the voice. Thats what he says at the beginning and end in vocal fry. This piece was always intended for Dimash to improvise and show off his talents and inventiveness. I have seen at least 7 different performances and they are ALL different to each other. Unlike other artists- especially in the USA- that use auto tune and effects- Dimash just shows his raw talent and complete love of music- whatever genre. That he still has a voice coach and works to improve his voice- shows not only his commitment to better himself- but that he is willing to put in more hard work to be HIS best. If that isn't a great lesson to be learned in this instant gratification world- I don't know what is!! • @@user-ex3cd3tc9u Pardon me, but why do you think it's lipsynced? Everyone says that it's lipsynced but has no proof. Dimash is a perfectionist so he can do the same thing live as in the studio. That's why some people are called a walking CD you know. There have been many performances which Dimash sang the song exactly the same and they were all live. For example; Olympico, Love of Tired Swans, Love is like a Dream. Consult fancams for these. Some times he sang these songs differently but everyone agree that it was a bad idea. These songs deserve to be sung a certain way and he's doing it right. Furthermore, people have vouched that he performed live for all New Wave performances and that they were there. On occasion, the artist is forced to lipsync a performance but I've only seen that once and it was obvious as he didn't even have a microphone. I've also seen once with Know that he performed it live at a concert but the stupid Russian TV program just laid the studio track over it and tried to sell it off. Which isn't even Dimash's fault. And you can compare it to the fancam which is completely different. Dimash has said that he will always perform live in his concerts and I believe him. If he Lipsyncs then it's totally out of his control. Sorry if this comes across as rude, that is not my intention

Первая привлекла тем, что это и голос, и мастерство, и представление, настоящее шоу. А вторая - это больше откровение и эмоции, западающие в душу, нечто исходящее из самых истоков и традиций.

  • I hope you realize these are two different songs: "Ascolta la Voce" or "Know (Vocalize)" (no lyrics) from Arnau 2020 and "Know" (with lyrics) from New Wave 2019. Dimash often calls them the same thing, but they are not. The original song is Ascolta la Voce, which was originally sung by Lara Fabian. Dimash and Igor added lyrics to Ascolta and rearranged it to create Know. Dimash performs both. Dimash first performed Ascolta at the D-Dynasty Moscow concert in 2019 (only the fancams show Ascolta-the official video dubbed over Ascolta with the lyrical, studio version of Know). Know was first performed live at New Wave 2019.

    @RainbowSheltie@RainbowSheltie4 жыл бұрын
    • It's not Dimash and Krutoy who added the lyrics, but the lyricist Gutseriev, who is a very rich and important man in the Russian show business, and unfortunately believes he is a poet. I think Dimash was kind of forced to agree to the version with lyrics and performs it on formal occasions, but in his solo concerts always prefers the vocalise, because the lyrics are rather silly.

      @Chabtung@Chabtung4 жыл бұрын
    • @Melody or Gutseriev is stupid enough to only allow Dimash to use the lyrics on certain occasions. But as we know, Dimash doesn't need them.

    • Melody I didn’t know (about who wrote the lyrics), but it makes sense (based on when he can perform them). As for Dimash’s thoughts on the lyrics (whether he likes them or not), I cannot speak for him or the process over negotiating the lyrics. I just know Dimash is stubborn enough he will not sing a song unless he approves of the final version. I partly think he uses Ascolta in concerts because it gives him more of a vocal break, too. His repertoire of songs can be intense, combined with his long concerts. I think Dimash just really has so much fun with Ascolta though. :D

  • I love both versions equally, but in different ways. The first version, more polished, is a journey through space. The second version, more organic, is a journey to the beginning of time. Both are cosmic. Dimash is a prodigious performance artist, a vocal masterclass every time he sings. Each performance is uniquely complex, fascinating in both his attention to minute details and his attention to the grand scale. Some people, and performers, are more micro-oriented, some more macro-oriented. Dimash is both, simultaneously and perfectly balanced. When someone says they don't like his singing, it's like someone saying "quantum theory is bad". It would be laughable, if it wasn't so pitiable. Thank you for your attention to, and appreciate of, the artistry of Dimash.

  • Know is one of my top three Dimash songs. Passione is another--it has somewhat of the same mysterious feel. There's a little kind of riff of Dimash singing a bit of the Queen of the Night on one of the informal videos out there, just wandering around during a rehearsal singing to himself. Cute. The other in my top three is the new one folks are talking about here--Across Endless Dimensions. I hope you get to those two.....soon. :)

He sang it in his last concert in Keiv before the pandemic forced him to cancel the remainder of his tour. He learnt the song in Ukrainian only the night before as a surprise for his Mother and his audience. This song is completely different from the songs you've heard from him. No vocal gymnastics, just an amazing ability to convey the lyrics that describes the love of a Son for his Mother. With only a piano accompaniment this a Masterpiece of how to convey emotion. Elizabeth you may need some tissues for this one. 😊🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿👍

  • In the first performance Dimash is performing Igor's piece that had new Russian lyrics and it's Igor at the piano. So Dimash sings it "straight". At this Kiev Concert, you can see him becoming more comfortable as a performer where he sits down and just does his own thing, trusting that it will be appreciated by the audience. Which it is! Dimash is a superb interpreter of other's songs but he is starting to show more of his own creative abilities.
