America just scored an amazing gift from France, an awesome statue! In 1886, France generously gifted the United States the iconic Statue of Liberty, which stands tall on Liberty Island in New York Harbor. The statue symbolized friendship and the shared values of freedom and democracy between the two nations. But considering what went down with those Trojan dudes way back when America can't help but feel a bit skeptical about it.

You guys do know that the Statue of Liberty was made of copper, so it was originally Brown until it corroded and turn green.
yeah but that's not as iconic and most people don't care anyways.

Odd how you made the Statue of Liberty green. Being a copper statue, it was penny brown when first made. By 1906, the years of oxidation turned the Statue of Liberty's copper brown into the iconic green we know today.
That's what I was thinking. For a channel that focuses itself on world history, you would think that they'd use the well-known, time appropriate color for such an iconic landmark.
Yeah i knew about that
You, you read my mind
Probably so it’s more recognizable for some people.

Trojans are not Turks, although they have similarities with Turks such as their hostility to the Greeks, it is also known that Mehmed the Conqueror said "Here's revenge for the Trojans." after the Conquest of Constantinople/Istanbul. But this doesn't mean that Trojans are ethnically Turks nor it means Trojans are connected to Turks in any cultural way. So Troyball should not have the modern Turkish flag. Just correcting your little mistake MrSpherical team, greetings from Turkey! :) Milestones: 23rd of May 2023, 6.14 PM(GMT+3): Reached 100 likes. 16th of June 2023, 9.23 PM(GMT+3): Reached 200 likes.
They just did that because Troy is in modern day turkey so people would understand that rather than the actual Trojan flag if they had one
@@Relivixx That doesn't matter. It's still so historically wrong. As the other guy said, the Trojans weren't Turks. In fact, the Turks arrived in these lands around 2200 years later. It's confusing that way.
Finally, someone else who knows that the Trojans weren't Turks and actually wrote it. I am not sure about the statement about Mehmed though.
@@Smartness_itself They have to make countryballs some way, and troy never had any flags that anyone knows about today, so to make the balls it makes sense they would use turkish balls, since troy is in modern day turkey.
@@biara2payara It doesn't make sense because it's wrong, confusing and rude. Instead, they could write Trojan on the countryballs or use some symbol, a horse, for example. The Roman Empire also didn't have a national flag, but nobody puts the Italian or some other flag on the Roman Empire countryball. In fact, the abbreviation "S.P.Q.R." on red background is used. There is always a right way.

I heared the US didn't want to pay to get Lady Liberty over the big pond because it was to expensive. Getting Lady Liberty to the US was literally the first nationwide crowdfunding project in US history.🗽
the war of troy between 2 greek nations (city nations) not turkey and greece even turkey wasnt contorling anatolia at that time they was in asia and doing wars with china
Turkey did not even exist back then

Legend says they are still in the Statue of Liberty
It is strange that the Trojans are depicted as Turks in the flashback even though they were Anatolian Greeks. The Turkish migrations to Asia Minor took place in the 11th century. Of course, this siege took place in present-day Turkiye, but you also shouldn't be rewriting history for the sake of simplicity. Kinda reminds me of Netflix's new Queen Cleopatra series.
That's true with only one correction: nobody knows whether the Trojans were Greeks or not. Their true origin is unknown.
@@Smartness_itself that’s what I meant by Anatolian Greeks. The Trojans seem to have been a native Anatolian ethnic group who were however culturally influenced by ancient Greece. Considering the Greeks‘ colonization efforts in Asia Minor the citizens of Troy could have easily been a mixture of both (Trojan-Greek or Anatolian-Greek). But yeah, in the end no one knows for sure.

A slightly provocative question, but why in most of your animations is Russia exposed exclusively in a negative light, and some countries in a perfectly positive one😤? Also, I couldn't help but notice that you ignore some historical facts, which is why there is a negative context in your videos regarding the countries that you ridicule (of course in a parody style). Considering that many countries (in real life) staged a lot of scandals, on the basis of which it was possible to make more jokes. 🤔
