In today's video we talk about the handling in the current and upcoming GTA titles, and how one mod for GTA 5 managed to surpass the default handling on all levels.

What GTA 5's Handling SHOULD Have Been Like ( GTA 5 DriveV Mod )
not only physics, but collisions should be more realistic too. for example, a super car can be used for every terrain in this game, u can climb a mountain with a lambo with no problem, this makes off road vehicles totaly useless, hope this is fixed in gta 6, because in gta 5 is boring, you only see players using super cars
dude what are you smoking... they must be modders i've never driven a car up top mount chilliad. either way offroad vehicles aren't useless as they still have an advantage over supercars in suspension
i know that’s unrealistic but that’s also just convenient, it would be very annoying if i wouldn’t be able to climb the mountains while driving a super car, because i’m always driving a super car and i’m climbing mountains very often, because of for example shortcuts bc it’s faster, running from the cops, or just crashing or falling of a highway or something and then having to climb back
But an older game had better physics 🤷 @@speedy035
You guys should just go play iRacing or something. This video was good, but the people sucking off GTA 4's physics are so annoying and I know for a fact Rockstar isn't going to make it that realistic or else every person who isn't a car nerd would uninstall the game.
@@dewritos2068🤓🤓
One thing I dont like about gta 5 driving is how the cars flicker automatically when driving over a sidewalk platform edge, theres no suspension at all.
there's a mod for that.
That’s because gta 5 is a where they test the cars for gta6 they won’t add physics and new sounds they are saving all that for the next game
@@spaceoven8788that's not how it works
Well, in fact there it its, but its very stiff and sensible and the differential tends to be diferent from car to car but normally its very closed on braking, sensible on throtle lift and stable on acceleration
Also in some cars when turning at low speed car turns more than front wheels are turned, you can see this for example with terrorbyte and cars with hydraulics installed, also cars from tuner dlcs and many more.

thats why no one new vehicle dlc is fun anymore, because the physics, every car feels the same, there are no working suspension and there is no fun driving a static box glued to the ground
bro never seen the bravado dorado
The new impaler lx is kinda fun to drive
Try the Sand King SBW or XL, as far as suspension I’ve yet to see a better vehicle, except for maybe a monster truck or an arena war vehicle.
Or it could be that the gta online has been going on for 10 years
That’s because gta 5 is where they test the cars for gta6 they won’t add physics and new sounds there’s no point to add that to a old game
Turbo Dismount music was a good choice
Agreed
I was about to say the same thing

yeahhh the gang is here
Which of the tracks is it?
Driver San Francisco has easily the best open world driving physics hands down. If there's any game Rockstar should emulate it's that. Not too realistic but not too arcadey either, perfect middle ground. Good video btw
Thanks. Yeah Driver SF is an excellent game, too bad Ubisoft wiped it from existence completely. The police chases in that game were tough, no matter how good you were. Though yes it was a result of the cops rubber banding, but honestly I don't mind as long as it makes the chases challenging.
I prefer NFS The Run's handling. It's near a sim-cade like handling (
@@thegamereviewandreallifech1910 On PC you have to pirate it. Be careful if you're trying that, I'd recommend Fitgirl repacks for torrent. On consoles like ps3 and 360 you'd have to look on sites like Ebay for a copy.
BeamNG, Assetto Corsa, Dirt Rally 2. Enough said.
@@thesilver7238 i personally detest NFS and haven't completed any of the games since Carbon and Hot Pursuit. I dont think its anywhere near sim-cade imo, Forza is sim-cade. What i liked about Driver SF was how different types of cars drove differently (excessive realistic body roll on a Crown Vic vs. a more nimble grounded Fiat Abarth) and how fun it was to drift around turns in a way thats ironically more realistic than NFS. But if you like NFS thats cool too, thats whats great about games, there's something for everybody.
It wouldnt just make vehicle choice more important, but tuning would be far more engaging. Choices between high and low travel suspension, roll cage to stop the canopy from caving, a wide array of tires for difference surfaces.
I really hope GTA6s physics is way closer to GTA4 than 5. My favourite thing about GTA4 was just driving around for no reason and I had a lot of fun doing it. Great video.
"Driving around for no reason." Yeah, I'm sure you did a lot of that. 4 is the worst title in the entire series.

The NFS Porsche Unleashed soundtrack at 1:33 caught me off guard
Was thinking the same thing, what a sudden blast to the past
Something that must always be considered when asking the question of, "Can this game be more realistic?" is, _"Should_ this game be more realistic?" I put forward that, no, more realism is not always better. Realism, on its own, is not conducive to fun, and simply adding realism does not _necessarily_ make a game more fun. To use two examples, two extremes of the vehicle-focused driving game, let's look at Need for Speed (Any of the games would work for this) and BeamNG Drive. The former is an exaggerated, cartoony racing game while the latter is a painstakingly and breathtakingly detailed physics simulator that happens to focus on cars. If we took the gameplay loop of Need for Speed and added the real-time softbody physics simulation of BeamNG, would that make Need for Speed more realistic? Yes! Would that make Need for Speed more fun? Not necessarily. The reason for this is that the fun of Need for Speed comes from it being wacky, cartoony and unrealistic, while the fun of BeamNG Drive comes from it being incredibly realistic, with a real-time physics simulation and the most intricate damage modeling system implemented in a game to-date. GTA IV's driving physics, while realistic, are also _exaggerated_ to the point of circling around to being unrealistic, while GTA V's are more exaggerated to the point where most cars are glued to the road. For as much as I love GTA IV, I would much rather have the handling physics of V than those of IV.
no GTA game has realistic driving and while GTA IV's driving is more engaging it is not because it is more realistic but because it is more difficult. At the moment GTA is just too arcady for anyone to enjoy over a long period of time without getting bored. Instead of realism I'd say the game would benefit alot from depth in the driving systems since the game is about cars and the driving is as bland as a 2000's game. It's beyond me how a game about cars doesn't have the option of manual shifting for example, it would allow drifting but they decided it would be better to make an entire separate system for that that only doubles down on the arcady side they want their game to be
@@miguelnascimento2847 It was just because GTA 5 is supposed to be a hollywood movie from 2013, because its in LA. They are going for realism and immersion with GTA 6 so we don't have to worry. GTA 5 had zero depth and people only think it is the best because we haven't seen an actual good GTA yet.
@@miguelnascimento2847 not really for me Gta-4 was boring to drive.I drove cars more in Gta-3,vice city and San Andreas more than Gta-4.Which is saying alot about Gta-4,which is a boring pile of crap.Even the missions design and map etc.
@@contra7631 not going to argue with mission and map design but the driving physics in gta IV are more engaging than gta V's simply because you have to manage more things about them. The place you drive in is also important and it might be the reason you find it boring but talking about the physics alone I don't think anyone will claim that V's are less boring the IV's
@giacomo7113 "We haven't seen an actual good GTA yet." Have you been living under a rock? GTA Vice City, San Andreas, and GTA IV were all great games. GTA V is even a good game, as it still breaks records 10+ years later.
gta 5 always had quite good deformation, look at old gen ps3 xbox 360 one. It had roof deformation, door and pretty much everything. Even wheels could fall off. They heavily downgraded in next gen due to first person. Luckly u can enable it with ENB mod since apparently its just a shader related thing
Yeah it's really dumb how they didn't just toggle roof deformation based on selected camera view. The ENB mod proves the engine can do it.
Completely agree. Yes IV is over the top when it comes to like super cars, but with regular cars, which 95% of the cars are, it's a lot more fun. And the bike physics in IV is incredible compared to V. I tried playing through the V story again since I've only completed it once and I've forgotten the plot, but I just can't enjoy it. I've finished IV at least 10 times and it still feels good.
IV bike physics are absolute dogshit
@@Rayer24 I think i's a matter of taste and I think most people who prefer the V controls to IV are ether too young to appreciate it or like the game to be "easy" = boring.
I felt that about V tbh. Not saying IV was perfect from that regard. Theyre both awful re bikes. @Rayer24
You serious?Have you ever driven a bike in real life.In real life bike never slides like that, its like you are driving an ice cube on ice.

Ah, this mod brings back memories, I've spent thousand hours making my mod to GTA IV handling, to make it more realistic - less boat like, less durable, realistic acceleration and top speeds etc :D So much research and playtesting what a sweet times those were :D
Ngl putting GTA V's suspension on GTA IV's physics would make much more sense, cars in GTA IV drive like someone stole your suspension and replaced it with springs designed for a dirtbike, without putting the dampers or sway bars back on
Oh my God.I couldnt agree with you.I hate Gta-4 driving.I prefer any need for speed style driving than that pieace of sht.Its like driving on ice.
youre right about that, but tbf gta4's driving looks really cool to me for some reason. its not realistic but seeing the car sway like that is satisfying af
Gta4's suspension is more realistic than 5, suspension in gta5 is waayyy too stiff

Best thing about gta 5 and it JUST got added after 10 years is drifting. This is probably gonna be the most arcade like gta game of the HD era

the turbo dismount and boneworks music lol, amazing video
How the hell do you only have 800 subs The editing _alone_ is worth more The pacing is great, the narration is engaging, and the accompanying b-roll shows the effort you put in recording this I don't know who you are, eightbite, but i am immediately interested by your content
I always hated the fact that you couldn't really drift or slide in GTA V because it would absolutely cut off power on your car and slow you down like your car is glued to the road and not at all allowed to oversteer.
Arcade car physics is GTA is more about player's preference than about game engine. So there are 2 points: - Arcade car games are way more popular than realistic car games (I don't even mention simrace). Just compare popularity of NFS, Forza Horizon or The Crew and Wreckfest, for example (I know, that they can't be compared, but I don't even know pretty fresh open-world racing games with realistic physics). The main idea- most of the people want to simply look at the car while driving in games, very few want to "feel" the vehicle and get emotions from driving. (Eh, to be simple- Flatout 1 had a nice balance of arcade and realism, but it wasn't very popular. Flatout 2 became much more arcade, but became very popular racing game. That's a simple example of Idea). 2. Gta is not only about cars, but also about shooting and heist. So there is no actual need to make driving more realistic- otherwise, car chases would be slower and much more difficult (what could be not interesting for majority of GTA players). In the end- of course, Rockstar could develop both arcade and realistic car behaviour and give player both options available (like in Mafia 2), but I don't really see why Rockstar need to do this)
Well said, another good example is Mafia 1. The developers actually drove some of those cars from the time period (1930's) in real life, because they wanted to make the driving realistic. And they did, but it made the driving extremely unattractive for a lot of people.
Exactly.Gta without high speed chases is just boring.Which Gta-4 basically was. That is why in so many aspects it was so boring to play.
Actually super well made, definitely deservers wayyy more subs
Amazing video! Keep it up, would love to see you do videos on GTA 6 in the future
It's obvious to me how the target audience since the early 2010s has been childrens instead of teenagers and adults. This is why nowadays movies, videogames and shows are pathetic.
Nah it's just hacks with bad writing
Can’t stand GTA 4 jelly suspension. Its like every single car had the sway bars removed.

Great video! 💯 This mod looks like epic fun and gives off GTA IV physics vibes. I'll definitely be trying this out. I always go back to GTA IV because I love the way vehicles handle. 🙏🏽
I think a key thing you are forgetting is the audience. Gta is focused at a wide and general audience. Making it difficult and realistic to a casual or even non gamer makes it unattractive: In making it realistic it shifts the focus from story, gaining money and content to more of a driving mastery aim. What I mean is that it makes it harder to get into the game if going between missions is a pain or overly challenging. I'm not sure if I have correctly explained my thoughts on this but hope my jist is understood
I get what you mean, what I noticed when I played story mode with the mod installed, it actually made me WANT to drive, instead of taking the taxi everywhere. That's the thing, tougher driving doesn't always mean that you're gonna crash into every wall. I actually had the motivation to try and not to crash because of the tougher destruction, and it was incredibly fun. It felt really cinematic, first because of the speed and acceleration, then the destruction ( there were actual stakes involved if you crashed, especially during a car chase ) and last but not least, the suspension sway is sooo satisfying it's unreal. When you take a corner at high speed with an SUV, it actually feels like a top heavy vehicle.
@@Eightbite the issue with that is that you're still coming from a biased perspective on the handling. If it's easier for everyone especially very casual players, no one is going to have an issue with accessing more of what the game has to offer and that's what Rockstar was more than likely going for.
@@BleedForTheWorldYou have no business calling yourself a gamer if one aspect of a game drives your attention away from the ENTIRE REST OF THE GAME!
@@MLPZephyr first of all, that's a no true Scotsman. Second of all, it's a game where one of the primary mechanics is to drive around. I think you get the point.
One thing that annoys me in GTA 5 we can't push smaller cars with larger vehicle like a truck , it gets stuck during collision as if it hit a big Rock In IV we could use a truck to push other cars easily and it was fun to pile up cars and roll them over with a Big Truck
Sick vid mate, I find it unbelievable that you only have 3k subs.
Finally someone covered this mod. This is literally the best handling mod for gta v imo. It also comes with realistic damage.
An easy fix would be to have these driving physics as an option in Gta VI so both parties can be happy. Something Gta V should've done.
nah thats too complicated. They would have to change so much in the game for the one the and the other system, its just wasted time. All missions where you drive would need a lot of work for that. How would the handle the new online mode if there are two driving physics like for example in racing one would have a advantage.
@Emerich2 mafia II has an option to do so, so it's definitely possible, and R* could definitely do it. Driving in Gta missions isn't really intense at all, its not like they are making you do a stunt race after robbing a bank or something, I would see the "realistic" driving to be more of a difficulty slider.
@@Emerich2how would if be complicated it’d just be like having sport mode and normal or something
@@user-cb5rr9zi7v because every mission where you have to chase something or drive fast has to be designed with two different sets of physics in mind. the map would also have to be designed for two different types of physics. the online wouldn't work at all with a toggleable physics. overall it's way too much effort just so a small amount of people can play with GTA 4s driving
@@VerminSupremeFanPage no it wouldn’t it’d just be a choice whether you want harder driving mechanics or not
i believe rockstar will find some middle ground between GTA V’s arcade feel and RDR2’s realistic feel. I dont think hyper realism fits the GTA series, however a certain level of realism definitely helps add to the immersion and enjoyment of the game. I hope they find a good balance, and if they do choose hyper realism i know i would be happy but idk about others
It be the same thing like now , half well like it other half wont. But they all would still play it. I dont like Gta Vs driving , but i still play it.

the problem with GTA V's driving is that too many children who have no skill play the game... literally every vehicle in GTA Online is AWD now because they just point their vehicle in a direction and floor it the entire way.
Thank god you mentioned Wreckfest. I think it has the perfect balance between arcade and realistic physics, much like the Dirt series (pre Dirt Rally) had. Really enjoyable to drive and rewarding of good skill while not being too frustrating for casuals. the addition of the driving skill is a big part of what makes the driving progressively less engaging, early game driving is a lot more weighty and slidy compared mid or post-game.
I am 100% for this. I just played through GTA IV again; it is so much more visceral and engaging than V. A lot of that has to do with vehicle physics and damage modeling. You are required to take your time and build your skill to navigate the relatively crowded streets of Libery City, rather than just flinging a Zentorno over Mount Chilliad. T-boning a car in an intersections results in properly mangled body panels! Suspensions correctly absorbs driving over curbs, but if you slide sideways into one the wheels catch the edge. It’s awesome. GTA IV is a narrative and technical masterwork.
