She also could have taken her clothes off because she was hypothermic.
@@SuzanneEvans99 exactly
She went to the unreachable roof and lifted a heavy tank lid, jumped into it through a small hole and removed her clothes?
@@fazzaah well that too. Just saying if it was suicide she wouldnt have removed her clothes. No way she accidentally fell in. All the more reason it was deliberate.
She was on a manic episode that caused her to go into psychosis. 2 of my close friends suffer from bipolar disorder and we needed to involuntarily hospitalize them after they lost their minds in a prolonged manic state. Elisa must not have had the right medication. I think her doctor shouldn’t have let her travel in that state without the right meds.
she stopped taking her meds or wasn't taking them correctly according to the documentary, but I 100% agree with you...she also had a history of hallucinating being followed
Ok she had mental issues the hotel camera looks tampered with idk why the manager knows something we don’t
This is true I’ve witnessed someone in a prolonged state mental decay. It’s sad.
i can follow that the thing im confused about is how and/or why she got in the water tank. it was probably possible if she went up the fire stairs and climbed up in the water tank closed it from the inside and took her clothes off. I find it unlikely that someone in a manic episode did all that.
@@-sammot- she didn't get into the tank and close the lid behind her. When she was found the lid was open. If you understand that she was having a mental breakdown, then the leap to believing that she jumped into a water tank and took off her clothes is a short one. You can't rationalize irrational behavior displayed during a psychosis.

It’s so obvious the poor girl was “just” having a psychotic/manic episode of sorts, or was misdiagnosed as bipolar when in reality she was schizophrenic/had some other mental illness/disorder that could lead to something like this
I worked in a mental group home and the schizophrenic patients did stuff like this
She was diagnosed with bipolar with psychotic episodes and was not ctually taking her pills. The police found that out during the investigation. The Netflix special covers it
No, she is bipolar. Those with severe bipolar disorder experience psychosis which includes hallucinations, confusion, and delusions during a manic episode. Her family has confirmed this as well as doctors, etc. She stopped taking her medication.
the fact she wasnt in any mental state to climb to the roof or lift a 2 ton metal lid and climb in and close it on herself makes me believe someone took advantage of her mental state.

As someone with bipolar, after hearing that Elisa Lam also had bipolar and suffered hallucinations and numerous manic episodes in the past. This story is sad but is nothing more than another victim of mental health issues, With bipolar type 1 , we have hallucinations, exactly like those with schizophrenia have. A woman with bipolar traveling another country alone is an incredibly massive danger to herself!
the fact she wasnt in any mental state to climb to the roof or lift a 2 ton metal lid and climb in and close it on herself makes me believe someone took advantage of her mental state.
@@professortourettessomething did, don’t get me wrong the hand movements can be a result of distress in some situations but her body language with her walking and being able to climb up a water tank and lift that thing would take strength especially in that mental state, strength of a demon? It’s not demon possession, she was seeing if anyone was going into the elevator, because it made a stop to that floor.

Go up to the water tank and drown yourself. There are plenty of other ways to commit suicide. This girl was sad and mentally down about something. A water tank on a hotel room is a good way to hide your body. She didn’t want anyone finding her. Or she didn’t leave any notes. She smarter to fight voices telling her to kill herself She would have got a councilor. She went to the hotel on purpose and when the elevator opened it was because someone pressed the button o that door causing her to think that someone found out where she was going but that person went away. She can resist temptation like Jesus did. Can you picture another good way to hide your body if commuting suicide. I would have to find out her mental blood with her parents and if anything was disturbing her Thru out life. This wasn’t a demon. The hand movements was just hand fiddling. I do it too. She could have drowned her self at the hotel. But didn’t because she didn’t want anyone to find her body. I’m smart and I know that fhis wasn’t a demon. Rather something wrong with her life. Firstly, my condolences go out to the Lam family. But I also feel for the hotel maids and maintenance workers the world over who find suicide (or murder) victims in rooms. Sadly, it happens a lot and it is not in their job description. Emergency workers and law enforcement are also confronted with some really fucked up scenarios and I'm sure it disturbs them, but they're not walking into these situations blindly. This one was particularly ghastly in that hotel guests were ultimately the ones who made the discovery-however indirectly-in a most gruesome fashion. I never want to stay in a hotel again. I don't drink tap water anywhere-that's not so much the issue for me, but if you watch enough "BuzzFeed Unsolved" or "Forensic Files," or "Unsolved Mysteries" quarantine at home doesn't seem so bad.

If Ramirez is going to haunt a building, it'd be the prison he was executed in, not a hotel he once stayed at.
The netflix series answers a lot of these questions. For instance, the janitor found the lid was off the tank, the elevator had a ‘hold’ button that stopped the elevator from closing, her body was in the water for more than 24 hours, and the alarmed exit door did not actually trigger an alarm.
Which series?
There had to be other footages. Those hotels have cameras everywhere. Someone covered this up. Wtf.

I like how the concept of a ghost scientist is weird, but the existence of ghosts is completely understandable. How is a job where someone investigates something scientifically, stranger than the thing they're investigating?
Apparently there are actual “ghost scientists”! I just learned this after watching the docu-series Surviving Death on Netflix - there’s the academic field of phenomenology and there’s also a really old group of researchers called the Society for Psychical Research (founded in 1882 in England). Look it up and check out the show bc they have collected and investigated a bunch of data, identifying fake vs real evidence for telepathy, clairvoyance, seances, apparitions and hauntings. Tbh I’m bummed bc I love this stuff and had no idea it was a real academic field until now 😭

She was having a psychotic episode. As to how she was able to climb up the rooftop which was believed to be “locked,” the staff lied about it. Another KZheadr went there and he was easily able to get to the rooftop. Nevertheless this cover was such a classic from the ghoul bois (yes Brett is also an og). The news coverage did not respect this young lady at all. Bipolar does not mean you are crazy. Bipolar is about being depressed or having uforia feeling. It used to be one was depressed 6 months then ok 6 months. But now there are different levels to it. I highly doubt she undressed, climbed the tank and took lid off to get in. It never really said her cause of death. It led you to believe she drowned.
The undressing part is due to hyperthermia. It’s paradoxical undressing. Sadly, she has the most severe level of bipolar which can cause hallucinations.
@@_.hybrids._1680 then why was there so much sand like particles found on her clothes?
@@jenneliz2020x If you watch the documentary on Netflix, I’m pretty sure they covered the topic. I can’t tell you because I forgot what they said about that. I truly recommend you watch it! :)
@@_.hybrids._1680 I know the whole story. I just want you to understand it is very dark on that roof at night, she didn't have her glasses and no flashlight. Makes it seem impossible she went for a dip to commit suicide. It's almost impossible to drown yourself. Thanks
@@jenneliz2020x she didn’t just commit suicide. She was having a manic episode. She was hallucinating that she was being hunted down so she hid. Your eyes adjust to the dark pretty quickly. She saw an open tank, and, in her feeble mind, hid from her non-existent threat. Unfortunately, there was no way up. She eventually got hyperthermia which caused the paradox undressing effect. She eventually got tired and drowned. She never meant to kill herself. In fact, she was trying to live. She was just not in the right state of mind to successfully do so.

Her parents sued the hotel for diligence but lost the case. The janitor testified that access to the rooftop was secured. How she gained entry is still a mystery.
There’s just so many unanswered questions. I understand that her death could be blamed on mental health problems but how did she get up the fire escape? She opened the window? Also, the alarm never went off? Someone explain how she legit got on the roof and there’s no footage of it? And when she’s on the roof, how the hell did she get on top of the water structures, lift off a heavy lid, and get in? All while taking off her clothes? I mean I just can’t come down to one answer. I don’t understand
1. She got up to the roof via the window, I heard somebody say that canines tracked her sent there 2. And about the alarm, i think theres only an alarm in the fire escape stairs door way 3. There would be no footage probably due to the lack of surveillance cameras on the roof or on the way to the roof, and nobody probably saw her from outside the hotel doing so 4. The tank was already wide open apparently when she got there 5. There were ladder leading right into the tanks 6. She probably snapped out of her hallucinations and realized what she had done, and that she couldn't escape from inside the tank and removed her clothes to lessen the weight of her body and prolong her survival. But then again, i have done minimum research on this topic and I am only relaying the research of the others in this comment section have gathered. So please don't take my word for this and possibly look into this a bit more at your own time Thank you
Honestly no one put her in there this doesn’t make sense the fact she drowned, means someone would’ve had to lift the lid while putting her in there, what does make sense (and I’m not that big of a ghost believer) but ghost honestly a ghost lifted the lid and the girl got in is the only logical way I can think about how she died.
@@scotttheshark3576 wait what? They’d have to live the lid while putting her in in order for her to drown? She easily could’ve gotten in and drowned
I'm still wondering how that elevator door didn't close itself when she stepped outside

But wouldn't that make the elevator stop on all the floors? Won't it make it easier to catch her?
Priya Naik it would also confuse them as they would not know which floor she was heading too but good point
I get the bipolar part and that she might have missed her meds which causes hallucinations but what disturbing is the elevator door not closing for so long plus how would she leave to the roof, climb the ladder and lift the heavy lid, go in the tank, and take off her clothes?
So... nobody's gonna talk about how the same hotel had multiple serial killers living in it? And how there also were multiple murders (and POSSIBLE, maybe forced suicides) in the same hotel?

It can if she was having bipolar psychosis, which could actually explain it very well. Hallucinations and delusions are both later symptoms of it, and considering her roommates were complaining of "odd behaviour" (early symptoms of BP include difficulty communicating, suspicion of others, anxiety, and less emotional behaviour/expression), it all connects fairly well.

+AtmosphericColor It actually gave me a little nausea.

nah
Right. I was like OMG.
Yes. like it's hard for me to look at tap water the same way.
I fee like her being bipolar doesn't explain her behavior in the elevator. Being bipolar means you have states of euphoria and depression, it doesn't mean that you talk to imaginary people and act bizarrely. That behavior is more consistent with a schizophrenic, who has problems perceiving and interpreting reality.
Actually people with Bipolar D/O can have psychotic symptoms, including hallucinations.
Greystorm1619 yeah but maybe she took too many medications for her disorder?
This is about the elevator, I may be completely wrong with this, but isn't there an elevator game where if you hit so many buttons, depending on what floor you land on, there will be a little girl and then if you did something to anger her, something would happen to you? I may be completely wrong but it was just a thought.
Yes, but it isn’t a little girl, it’s a woman’s spectre. You shouldn’t talk to her otherwise you’ll die
It’s means a person have two personalities or act like 2 people in 1
They just missed that she pressed all the elevators buttons and the reason she was probably acting weird is the make sure nobody was coming to the elevator because she probably wanted a ride to all the floors and didn't want to inconvenience others but that doesn't explain everything else
What floor was she on when she entered the elevator? If the doors weren’t closing, she was probably looking for others to get into the elevator. This why she exited the elevator, made weird gestures and was fiddling around waiting for other people to enter, as this is a universal action for anyone that has used an elevator. Her odd behavior was due to this in my opinion. Anyone agree?

Like when an elevater system quits working while you are trying to get out of it to get away from a bad date which can happen to anyone instead of only prostitutes.
i think it’s very possible she was having a manic episode from the wrong medication or something triggering, but it’s still weird that the elevator doors never closed. it’s even more unsettling how she had gone up to the roof and got into the water tank without any alarms, and the fact that it would be difficult to do on her own
the fact she wasnt in any mental state to climb to the roof or lift a 2 ton metal lid and climb in and close it on herself makes me believe someone took advantage of her mental state.
next mystery. Find where all my missing socks are.
same
Bruhhhhhhh, on the real though
Fo real
Oh I forgot that one episode of South park where those little creatures stole socks, it's them I think around season 3 : p
SOCK GOBLINS!
American Horror Story: Hotel
Yesssss
The season was actually inspired by that
+Isma Aguirrezábal We're quite aware..
,yea!
+Nick Pringle and there you go
At the grocery store I worked at, they never turned on the alarms for the doors that people werent supposed to go through. She may have gotten up there because of that.
Treating the situation partly like it’s a joke. I-
Videos like these make me so afraid but I'm so interested in them why must I hurt myself so
Right
Same here💛
Oh my god me too 😂
Same, I hate it but I love it
IKR!?,
Oh my gosh but the way she moved her hands in the elevator camera footage freaked me out. It made me feel sick, anyone else? If not, watch again and only look at her hands during that part.
yea ..it makes me feel sick and start crying
gamergirl517 ikr
gamergirl517 she looked like she had autism
it kinda looks like she's trying to swim?
yeah I am a person who has watched every scary movie in this planet and documentaries but this movement of hands really shocked me ,i was like don't show that to me again that is a pure torture
There is more to this than meets the eye, something just doesn’t add up , god rest her soul
Some people think she was playing a game called “The elevator game”(I think)
As someone that played this game a lot when I was younger, it does really look like this. When playing the game you’re just really on edge so behavior like this when playing the game is really normal.
Yeah, that is actually the reason why I clicked on this video.
yep thats what i also thought and i think its rlly the elevator game. Its so confusing
What is the elevator game
Hotel Staff: People died here! Owner: Oh let's just change the name, everything should be fine.
My apartment complex! Same weird shit and then some! In Lubbock TX they used to be the Honeycomb Apartments and now they are called The Square at South Overton. I just learned after staying in a constantly state of panic and being physically ill that a 10 year old was raped and murdered here in 1981
okay this is a weirdly connected story but the secondary school that was next to/joint with mine changed their name after a kid got killed with a cricket ball (accidentally), so that does happen tbh
GAMING LIFE Given enough time it usually does
Sounds like Fazbear entertainment's strategy
Actually, it really does help. Outsiders like myself may not know the location of the Cecil and would only avoid that name while booking. One may not realize that they were actually staying in the Hotel Cecil.
Crazy how Ryan can cover something better in 7 minutes than Netflix can in 4 long episodes
How f*ING true
I learned a lot from the Netflix but the organization of it was weird
@@jaeb4505 Netflix serie was made to make it longer, they could have compacted it in 30 minutes, but why would they
Except he was wrong about the lid being shut
I was just thinking this hahaha
I wonder if they replaced the water tank and all the pipes after that, or if they just cleaned them out and said "Good enough."
Maybe staff did it. They know where cameras at, can vouch for each other, has access to places.
You're in the comment section.. You're safe now
😅😂
Yeah I do feel safe now :) 🙂😂😂😂
thanks :'v
thats why i come here...
Thank you ;u;
The question is Who in their right mind would even stay at this hotel
let's start a hand sanitizer buiznez for mingew Maybe it's a really cheap hotel?
let's start a hand sanitizer buiznez for mingew yay a carat spotted
let's start a hand sanitizer buiznez for mingew i prefer sleeping outside.
let's start a hand sanitizer buiznez for mingew me 100%
wtf
I'm pretty sure they said that she WAS under the influence and had a mental breakdown in the process
She has a severe case of bipolar which can cause hallucinations. She was hallucinating that she’s in danger and tried to hide in the water can.
what if she was playing hide n seek with her friends and drowned in that tank while actually hiding? i know it doesn't make sense but..
yeah that makes zero sense
That kind of is making sense because when she was hiding in the elevator it was a playful mood rather than being scared- not completely hide and seek, but practically thinking, there's a possibility that she might be going through a psychotic episode
I Blame Donald Trump
lol
yeah but she was Canadian
Donald Trump Is Taking Over Canada Then
+Ritzi Santos NO !🍁
+Ritzi Santos noooo 🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🌷
AW HELL NO THAT HOTEL LOOKS GRODY AF AND SCARY AF SOMEONE CALL SAM AND DEAN
YEEEES
EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING HONESTLY SAME PERSON
I did think of Supernatural during this.
+You in an alternate universe I HONESTLY THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY PERSON THINKING ABOUT SAM AND DEAN SINCE I BINGE WATCHED A LOT OF SUPERNATURAL TODAY
I love supernatural
Rewatching this since I've been missing Ryan's theory narration voice. Then I realized, Brent was looking for the Spaghetti monster. Years later, we'll encounter the Spaghetti ghost and Apple Tater ghost. Twice in all these 7 seasons of Buzzfeed unsolved: Supernatural. Omg. 🥺💖
It’s sad a weird how she died because how come there was only one camera in the elevator like someone in the staff planned this to take the cameras off or something
The whole demonic possession theory is one of many reasons that mental health is still being misunderstood. This girl was a victim of her mental health, which is as tragic and heartbreaking as any other case. Not everything HAS to be supernatural or a grand murder scheme.
So how did she get that lid off and climb in
Maybee the lid was already off
Demons are very real
@@jayden_2954 20 pounds isn't that heavy and if she was feeling paranoid that she was being chased it could have driven her to open it.
then how come they found the lid closed? the tank was 10 ft tall and there wasnt a ladder inside so how come? unless the hotel is hiding something
You guys didn’t mention the MOST puzzling piece of evidence...the surveillance video was cut...it was missing several minutes.
So, Where Can I Get The Full Footage?
@@aachaitu It was never released. Portions of the video were either cut by the police or the hotel staff (whoever controls the cameras).
WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK
A Retarded Orange Ape In The White House Apparently only about a minute was cut from the video. It was stated due to the cut the time stamp was warped (unclear as you see in the video) and her mouth looked pixelated at one point. Police stated that sometimes videos are edited because a person might be on video who doesn’t pertain to the case so they “cut” them out. So what I’m thinking is that when she was waving her hands around outside the elevator, perhaps she was talking to someone..... either way I feel horrible because I think this girl was murdered and it got swept under the rug. Nothing adds up.
My thoughts exactly...
what happens if she was seeing things and it was telling her to get into the tank and then once she was in she came back to conscious and was trying her hardest to survive then eventually drowned?
This is WAY BETTER than NETFLIX'S version of this HORRIBLE STORY ..this is scary true story..
Everything was cool until she moved her hands disturbingly in the elevator.
Same..
+Alexxa Trichter so true XD
I drive by this hotel sometimes. Creeps me out
agreed
+Alexxa Treichler I agree. Looks like her hands were made of rubber.
These are the perfect videos to watch before going to sleep.
Lmao pulled an all nighter watching this stuff.
@hello there 11:34 rn here
They really are
Stop it's 12:54 at night😭😭
Its legit 12:26 right here.
The intro of him dropping his phone hooked me already lolololol
*_I used to think Bipolar Disorder, or BD, just meant fast changes to moods but there's a whole lot more to it. Severe BD can also sometimes cause hallucinations_*
