"Piccolo isn't the step-father, he's the father who stepped up." Outstanding
Your comment should've spoiled the line, but it is still Gold.
Piccolo: It’s time you start acting like a man! Gohan: But I’m only 4. Piccolo: So what? I’m only 8!
literally died
omg i was crying lmao
Got goosebumps hearing this. Probably because its so true
"These characters raised you more than your own parents" Me: You're god damn right.
That moment when I realized Piccolo was more of a father to me and Gohan than my dad and Goku.
That joke hit entirely too close to home
LMFAO I literally said that out loud like Walter white and immediately opened the comments to see this
Eh 50/50 my real dad left me when I was a month old while my biological mother did the majority of the raising before she married my stepfather who was 1000x a better father then my actual one
damn right! lol
It was just a breath of fresh air watching piccolo take the lead lol literally felt like an open world game with him roaming around
"These Characters raised you more than your own parents" "Vegeta standing on high places looking down on others with his arms crossed" I feel that there is a connection. To be honst deep down we all just want to be the special someone that Vegata would be finnaly proud of.
he's inspirational in alot of ways tbh like his tenacity to keep going full well knowing goku will always be that lil bit stronger or evolve faster but he keeps on and keeps keeping on can't honestly say most if not all of many anime characters would or could do the same :P
If only he loved future trunks like that
Honestly, watching Piccolo try to save the world from big pharma and the criminal negligence of the saiyans is some of the most fun I've ever had with this franchise.
It's why he's best dad. He's going out there fixing his "kid's" problems.
The fact that he was willing to spend a lot of time in disguise to gather intel was a fun wrinkle too. It's hard to imagine any of the other main characters doing that. Heck, until this movie, it would have been hard to imagine Piccolo doing that. I'm guessing that's the Kami aspect of his personality coming through.
Very much agreed.
@@davidlundquist1979 Piccolo's character dramatically changed in tone after the cell saga. When the buu saga came around, Toriyama started to turn piccolo into a more comedic character and I'm completely for it! I love his balance of comedy moments and seriousness, it emphasizes his development from the spawn of a literal demon, to the uncle of his arch-nemesis offspring.
@@davidlundquist1979 or Neil
Fun fact: Cell Max is basically what Perfect Cell was originally meant to look like. Toriyama originally wanted Semi-Perfect Cell to be the design for Cell's ultimate form, but his editors recommended a slimmer, more refined incarnation. That's how we got Perfect Cell. So seeing this movie, I'm convinced Toriyama held a grudge and was like "Screw the old editors, BEEFY CELL IS BACK AND HE'S, LIKE, THE TRUE ULTIMATE FORM OR WHATEVER!"
That's a shame. Cell Max is the most uninspired form of Cell. There's a reason he's a dumb oaf while being that size. Toriyama has lost a lot of creativity and care over the years.
So the only way to Upgrade 'Perfect' Cell was to go back to the prototype? Sounds about right.
@@BreadCatMarcus And yet, I guarantee you still watch all the time.
@@BreadCatMarcus The fact that he didn't just bring back OG Cell (which woulda been a carbon copy of Resurrection F) and give him the same brain, while also making him huge and giving us our first real kaiju fight of the series, while also giving us room to think about how strong he could be, was all very inspired and objectively the right way to handle Cell coming back.
@@BreadCatMarcus but he WASN'T a big dumb oaf in that form the first time... he was confident, had his taste of overwhelming power to crush 16, start nuking Islands... He threw a tantrum while he was getting bodied by vegeta, but that's no different to perfect cell doing the same against gohan right before losing 18.
That 'power level' and 'fight, fight' segment was brilliant. 🤣
Saying “fight” 40 times never sounded so good 🙌🏽
3:33 "...Raise his power level so hard you guys!! " This is literally how we talked about it in the school yard.
True story! After school Cartoon Network conversations sounded just like thst
MasakoX: "STOP IT!"
😂😂😂😂😂so muchhhhh facts
“These characters raised you more then your parents” Sadly you don’t know how accurate this statement is
realistic fact.
Sad but true
Oof true
@@charlezdaniel7648 great Metallica song 😂. And yes…
Me look at Avatar Last Air Bender
When he said "piccolo isn't the stepfather he is the father who stepped up" my heart melted and i legit got a tear in my eye 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Lost it with the 'and raised his power level' 13 times 🤣
Piccolo out here getting ALL the respect he deserves
I think Mr. Sabat is getting tired of screaming
It's beautiful
Yet apparently he forgot how to grow even though he is Kami..
In short: You can win! You feel great! You-can-do-this!
@@0Royal0Kitten0 Goku's voice actor nearly passed out in DB GT from screaming.
loved the "power level" bit -- i watched the movie and barely noticed since it's classic dbz storytelling, so hearing it outlined with the supporting visual evidence was hilarious. can't even say they exaggerated for the joke, it's accurate! lmao
classic dbz story telling is freezer blowing up planets and cell drinking people... and the training. lots and lots of training
I honestly cannot understand how can you not notice it... It was parodied in the 90s...
@@Rokiriko i mean i noticed it _over the years_ of course, i had just long ago accepted it and forgotten about it since it's so consistent. So coming back after a long time to a dbz movie, it didn't stand out to me at all in the moment (since it's so typical for dbz), until this video roasted it! I mean just the sheer number of separate power-ups 😂
@@cl114c0777498d I absolutely loathed that part of DBZ. Everyone constantly raising their power levels until one side's plot armor gives in.
that whole bit made me wince at the redundancy. 😵
2:56 "getting hit on the top of the head really hard" oh man you know these guys watched and loved TFS's DBZ ABRIDGED!
"Like if the Sackler family were less evil" had me dying lmao
To be fair to Piccolo. His way of training Pan isn’t too far off from how he trained Gohan when he was 4 years old
At least he didn't leave her to fight the enemy by herself the way Goku did to Gohan against Perfect Cell.
@@krizwatcher wtf are you talking about he literally trained Gohan to fight Nappa and Vegeta
He’s actually way nicer to Pan. 😂
@@louis-stephane1391 dude, Goku, without any consulting or anything, left his 11 y/o son to fight Cell AND HAVE HIS ENEMY A SENZU BEAN
@@muckideen-swarray7487 Goku has zero defense with the bs he pulled in the Cell saga lol.
Please tell me I’m not the only one who, the second he mentioned piccolo training someone, immediately thought “DODGE!”
I wish they used some TeamFourStar references in any of the Super content. I might actually watch it at that point lol
same, shouted at the screem
No, but I thought about second movie with the Cooler, when he mention hitting Cell really hard. ;)
that would explain why Gohan tends to focus on dodging...watch Gohan's fight style in the movies etc.
My man
Loved how other characters, especially Piccolo got to take center stage.
Piccolo is the dad we all wish we'd had, but is also the one we'd be terrified to visit
I loved the part when he raised his power level.
True, but I raise you one better: The part where he raised his power level even _more_
I think it was boring until he raised his power level AGAIN!
Yeah yeah that was cool But when he raised his power level that other time 🔥🔥
I have raised more power level by 1000+ in Rise of Kingdom
I raised my power level higher than GT’s ratings.
Omg I can’t believe they did an honest trailer for this. I’m so happy
Me too
That’s not untrue…
I know! I couldn’t believe it when I first saw the thumbnail!
This is how you know theatrical movies in America are the toilet, when the theatrical movie episodes of Japanese TV anime are actually successful here.
4:06 Toriyama favourite line
Picollo given the MVP treatment he deserves. The guy literally was raising the new superheroes since DBZ!!
I like how that one dude saw Piccolo's Special Beam Cannon coming and took the time and energy to form a shield instead of just moving out of the way of it.
Might have been faster to form a shield than dodge.
@@PC2000 I believe you mean DOOOOOOODDDGGGEE!!!!
@@darrellderonceray4123 because at this point DBZ abridged is cannon.
@@CalvinVance DBZA has always been canon! Loved every single episode of it.
Piccolo can move his energy blasts after firing them. He did it against the androids back in the day
This is the best honest trailer this year. It raised its own power level
To raise to another power level 😅
to raise to another power level 😅
to raise to another power level 😅
He got so excited he just chanted fight for about a solid minute.
It’s over 9000!!!!!!
“We don’t talk about that one.” 😂😂 So true! LOL
The "raising his power level" part was golden. 😂
I like the part where the protagonist raises his power level and then the antagonist raises his power level only for the protagonists to rais it again to top him off! Good times...
That shot of Bulma was excessive. Nice.
Nice
That's tame compared to the uncut Japanese version of the anime.
nice
Bulma was always gonna be BEST GIRL. After all, she was the first.
@@TomCruz54321 like that bit with child Goku?
That power level bit 💀
It's sad that now that's what dragon ball has become.
@@mrswan667 When was it ever NOT that lol
@@Ethan-wr2os Og dragon ball ? LOL
@@Ethan-wr2os Didn't they used to have entire episodes of two people staring each other down / charging up?
@@mrswan667 it’s always been that; it’s just people raising their power levels all the time to one-up each other
The portion about power levels was basically a walkthrough for literally every saga since the Saiyan saga
Dragon Ball Super Superhero isn't here to make new friends, it's just a love letter to the fans who've stuck with it since the Toonami days. Well said, Epic Voice Guy!
Yes, b/c Toonami apparently existed in the 80s.
@@jp3813 Actually, they were founded in 1997, and where considered one of the first companies to bring dubbed DBZ to the US, that's all. I can't speak for anyone else, but I remember watching DBZ before I watched the original DB.
@@Mikaracat That was sarcasm. The DB show premiered in 1986, followed by DBZ in 1989, and was distributed to different countries well before '97 when DBGT was already a thing. The writers of this video are acting like this movie was mainly made for Toonami watchers. Very Americentric way of thinking.
@@jp3813 Yeah I guess it's kind of a weird statement when countries generally make products for their domestic audience first and then the international audience is a bonus. Somehow I doubt Toei or Toriyama even know what "Toonami" is. Dragon Ball GT ended in Japan before Toonami even started, and a lot of countries got Dragon Ball before the US.
Also to europeans (and japanese obv) who actually got to see and fall in love with the first series ❤
That fact that Piccollo was not the step-father, yet he's the father who STEPPED UP. Makes me want to actually watch this even more.
@@ItsMeBarnaby They continued that trend in the manga. They gave teenage Goten and Trunks their own arc that focused on them putting Dr Hedo in Jail. The reason why Dr Hedo is in jail at the beginning of this movie is because of Goten and Trunks, so they technically caused all of it.
It's on crunchyroll on DragonBallz movies
This movie for me was the equivalent of being at home on a cold night wearing comfy pajamas and your favorite blanket next to a delicious hot drink 😅
I love this.❤🙂
Perfectly points out all the issues and then gives it every ounce of respect it deserves . Fight fight fight 😅
4:12 Didn't know that Toonami existed in the 80s.
So we're just going to ignore that Krillin has been raising his daughter since day 1, even leaving his training in order to ensure sure that she has his father around and the only reason Krillin decides to fight is because of her. In the title of "Best Dad," it's Krillin through and through
Not to mention #18. She's probably the most caring mother in all DB and this is really heartwarming considering her nonchalant and even cold attitude throughout the series.
Yeah, Goku always find some excuse to stay away from his family (and he miss the first 7 years of Goten's life because he choosed to stay dead).
@@varric if you dumbfcks ever watched the show you would know why he chose to stay dead
“These characters raised you more than parents” …..I was laughing then I got quiet
"These characters raised you more than you're parents" 😂 accurate 😅
3:02 thats a lot of increase in power levels 🤣🤣🤣
New drinking game: have a shot every time he says, "power level" 🤪🤪
Along with scream mix to the drinking game.
I’m soooooooooooo wasted. 😂
Piccolo not the Step-Father he the Father that Step up. That was Beautiful!🥹
Yup almost brought a tear to my eye 😢
there a reason "step" in family exist.
@@OwO377 bro your so cool or better word *cooler*.
@@matpat7881 ...Frieza did it.
I loved that they brought back giant piccolo tbh. Also it's a fun play on the word "Piccolo".
that was hilarious, particularly the part about "raising power levels"
A Dragon Ball honest trailer?! Epic voice guy, you just provoked me to raise my love level for your channel so hard!
They did an Honest Trailer for the movie we don't talk about that's not the animated movie we're not supposed to talk about. (Search Dragonball Evolution Honest Trailer.)
@@ImAFatNerd90 Exactly, Honest Trailers finally did a Dragon Ball Trailer. I think @Shadowcat79 just said that.
"Piccolo's not the step-father, he's the father who stepped up." Damn, right.
4:48 At that moment I realized........... Gohan is basically an adult Deku.
Ah ha ha ha ha! 🤣 “Because these characters raised you more than your parents.” So true. They’ve been a huge part of my life. My God that is THE best line I have heard from Honest Trailers. 🏆
How young are you?
@@eavyeavy2864 - What does it matter?
The minute you said "raise your glasses with your middle finger" I actually did it on reflex... and felt really self-conscious.
I use my index finger to push my glasses needlessly sometimes, but I still felt called out...
I've been wearing glasses for 30 years, and never thought about it, it's always been my middle finger pushing them back up. Why am I being called out? I.. I didn't even realize I was doing it... I... I.... -insert waaaaambulance here, for reasons-
Bruh that Last Time on Dragon Ball Z does something to me lmao it's so sonically pleasing
Man, when you mentioned Toonami, a rush of shivers and goosebumps flooded over me, and I was instantly hit with an overwhelming wave of nostalgia. Those were such simple and cherished times back then. I can vividly recall those summer nights, staying up late, completely captivated by all my favorite shows and cartoons. It was an era when things were more straightforward - there were distinct boundaries between kids' cartoons and adult-oriented ones. Toonami had this unique allure, drawing us in with its captivating lineup of animated series that appealed to our youthful hearts and minds. One of the most unforgettable aspects was Tom, the robot host, with that soothing voice that became the soundtrack of our Toonami experience. Hearing him introduce the shows and guide us through the action-filled adventures felt like being welcomed into a special world made just for us. Gosh, how I wish I could turn back time and relive those moments again. Toonami created such a magical atmosphere, providing an escape from the challenges of daily life, and it became a cherished part of our childhoods. If only we could recapture that feeling of wonder and excitement. Though we can't go back in time, we can hold on to those precious memories and continue to cherish the impact Toonami had on our lives. Perhaps, in our own way, we can find ways to recreate that joy and nostalgia in the present, making new memories that will become the treasures of the future.
I feel you. I just to love tenchi muyo I think it was called.
It makes me realize I'm old, tenchi muyo, outlaw star, Trigun, gundam wing. Those were the days
@@eddapultstab2078 damn, they sure were!
I still think toonami should come out with a streaming service and keep in the commercial break parts they had. I mean the shows are already set to have a break there just give us the toonami clip and go back to the show.
"Piccolo isn't the step-father, he's the father that stepped up" Me: You damn right
I'm glad I'm not the only one who calls Gamma 1 and 2 Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumber. "Goku and Vegeta Side lined by a missed phone call" that's actually hilarious.
“And once again derails Gohan’s normal life” FACTS!!!!! For the guy who’s supposed to understand Gohan more, he sure forces him in situations that Gohan doesn’t want to be in.
This has been one of my favorite Honest Trailers recently. Keep it up.
Who else unironically bopped their head when he started repeating FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT? Yeah this anime raised me.
"Last time on Dragonball GT: We don't talk about that one!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yet.
Skipping past Last Time on DragonBall Evolution because we really don't talk about that one.
Figured I'd get around to watching it at someone, this trailer actually sparks some interest. Sooner or later a studio is going to be smart enough to hire this channel to do a trailer before the movie comes out.
It is Dragon Ball Movie, you know what is is about but this movie is really entertaining.
The power level bit killed me 😂
Please say “Who is your favorite fearless hero?”
YES please! I hope he does it in the PiB2 honest trailer (whenever they get around to actually making it).
My favorite superhero is the one and onlyyyyy POWER LEVEL
Ah yes, the one where Bulma used a wish to firm up her buns! Because using a Dragon Ball wish for minor cosmetic surgery makes total sense!
Better than her original wish for a boyfriend 😂
Better than Frieza doing a Commander Red
originally she wanted a boyfriend
@@Jerga27 I'm not sure Vegeta is even a butt guy! Though I suppose keeping Toriyamas original waifu looking the way she does makes sense.
Do you want Shadow Dragons? Because that's how you get Shadow Dragons
Piccolo never lost relevancy. He's the batman of this universe.
That! Explains everything! - Piccolo ;)
The bit about the power levels got me😂..
Piccolo is the dad we all deserved but none of us got 😭😭
2:18 Tbf Piccolo was also 3 years old when he first fought Goku
One of the VERY BEST this far!!! Love the channel!!! Never been let down for a great laugh..
I had to raise my power level just to watch these guys raise their power level
I wasn't expecting his at all, but it's absolutely welcome! I had a good time watching this movie on the theater with my sister, we were remembering all of the old plot relating to the characters.
"These characters raised you more than your own parents" Damn straight but mostly it's good motivation to train to get stronger at the gym
This sums it up pretty good and you're the first to generally capture my sentiments. I still love this movie, watched it in theater and had a blast.
Bravo! Bravo! Just when I thought you guys at Honest trailers could get any more hilarious, you guys do this! This by far is one of the BEST Honest Trailers EVER!!!! Great work Guys!
Dragon Ball 🐲 is the Japanese Fast & Furious 😂, that's nice
Only that DB was there first. So Fast and Furious is the American Dragon Ball.

One day, I'll get my wish of an Honest Trailer for Better Call Saul
This was the funniest one in a long time. Really good stuff.
This might be the best honest trailer of all time. great job y'all
Using your middle finger to push up your glasses like all the serious anime guys do was originally considered to be commonplace until someone had the changing colors Dragon Ballz to raise their power level whilst doing it thereby making it more epic than a Dragon Ball fight scene.
I have never heard a more accurate synopsis for a super saiyan transformation. Also, those was some spot-on DBZ narrator impressions. The powering up bit is also perfect. This is one of the best honest trailers I've seen in a while.
if you mean the "read this in your epic voice" section....it had better be spot on, considering that was the DBZ narrator
Finally watching this after Toriyama's death.
This is probably the best DBZ movie ever
This is my fave DBZ movie todate, Piccolo finally shines being a total badass father figure to Gohan and Pan.

That's a good one, but I'd argue the best line was "Hey everybody! I brought the earth's mightiest warriors... and Krillin."
@@ConstantineFurman That's definitely a keeper too. I just love the Piccalo one because at first I thought the onomatopoeia was just a fun stylistic choice they were doing for the fight...then Piccalo calls it out that he can see it too and I burst out laughing.

And he has been like that since 1989. Now that's a legendary father right there.
The power lvl joke was so good
"these characters raised you more than your parents." So true...
Never did it expect to see this covered, but now the Broly movie must be
