    • The fact that he was willing to spend a lot of time in disguise to gather intel was a fun wrinkle too. It's hard to imagine any of the other main characters doing that. Heck, until this movie, it would have been hard to imagine Piccolo doing that. I'm guessing that's the Kami aspect of his personality coming through.

When the buu saga came around, Toriyama started to turn piccolo into a more comedic character and I'm completely for it! I love his balance of comedy moments and seriousness, it emphasizes his development from the spawn of a literal demon, to the uncle of his arch-nemesis offspring.

  • Fun fact: Cell Max is basically what Perfect Cell was originally meant to look like. Toriyama originally wanted Semi-Perfect Cell to be the design for Cell's ultimate form, but his editors recommended a slimmer, more refined incarnation. That's how we got Perfect Cell. So seeing this movie, I'm convinced Toriyama held a grudge and was like "Screw the old editors, BEEFY CELL IS BACK AND HE'S, LIKE, THE TRUE ULTIMATE FORM OR WHATEVER!"

    @gagejoseph91@gagejoseph91 Жыл бұрын
    • That's a shame. Cell Max is the most uninspired form of Cell. There's a reason he's a dumb oaf while being that size. Toriyama has lost a lot of creativity and care over the years.

      @mastertucker@mastertucker Жыл бұрын
    • @@BreadCatMarcus but he WASN'T a big dumb oaf in that form the first time... he was confident, had his taste of overwhelming power to crush 16, start nuking Islands... • Man, when you mentioned Toonami, a rush of shivers and goosebumps flooded over me, and I was instantly hit with an overwhelming wave of nostalgia. Those were such simple and cherished times back then. I can vividly recall those summer nights, staying up late, completely captivated by all my favorite shows and cartoons. It was an era when things were more straightforward - there were distinct boundaries between kids' cartoons and adult-oriented ones. Toonami had this unique allure, drawing us in with its captivating lineup of animated series that appealed to our youthful hearts and minds. One of the most unforgettable aspects was Tom, the robot host, with that soothing voice that became the soundtrack of our Toonami experience. Hearing him introduce the shows and guide us through the action-filled adventures felt like being welcomed into a special world made just for us. Gosh, how I wish I could turn back time and relive those moments again. Toonami created such a magical atmosphere, providing an escape from the challenges of daily life, and it became a cherished part of our childhoods. If only we could recapture that feeling of wonder and excitement. Though we can't go back in time, we can hold on to those precious memories and continue to cherish the impact Toonami had on our lives. Perhaps, in our own way, we can find ways to recreate that joy and nostalgia in the present, making new memories that will become the treasures of the future.
