I play on Xbox by being a new zeelander then when a game comes out on PC on GeForce now. Btw this was always the editions Ubi had they're just 10 USD more. Either ubi plus or the discounts fixes it.

    • @@zerorigNobody is saying anything like that. And if you buy a book, or a Blu-ray, you can absolutely resell your one copy when you're done with it. What Ubisoft is doing with The Crew is essentially equivalent to breaking into your home and taking back the book you bought from them.

    • Digital is not the problem, DRM is. If you make this issue about physical vs digital you're not only wrong you're also actively harming your own cause. Physical media is dead, and digital is actually better for game preservation than physical is. DRM has always been the issue it has NOTHING to do with physical vs digital.

      @steel5897@steel589714 күн бұрын
    • @@sgtbaker2072 physical games have 0 to do with game preservation, they're actually worse than digital media for that. All those physical discs of PC games from the 2000s are now UNPLAYABLE btw because stuff like securom and GFWL have gone offline years ago. I'll repeat, stop making this issue about physical vs digital, you have no idea what you're talking about. The issue is DRM, always has been.

      @steel5897@steel589714 күн бұрын
    • @@steel5897 Absolutely!!!! I own a few physical game boxes, and the medium (CD/DVD) inside is nothing more than a piece of useless plasic. Those games I spend money on are now gone. For some you can find a "solution" on-line, but others are unsalvable and gone forever. That's the reason I avoid games with infested with kill-switch DRM (especially Denuvo) like the plague they are. In the very rare case I buy such a DRM infested game (when it's rock-bottom low price for instance) I make sure there is an "alternative" available to protect my investment. If that's not available, then my money stay's in my pocket - I am no fool... But in 99% of the cases I only buy DRM-Free games, and if possible on my preferred store platform GOG. On that platform you can download all the game installer files to install that game at any time without the need to be on-line at all. Those installers can be used years and years after purchase, without ever becoming unusable like those physical games that became very expensive coasters.

    • It’s upsetting but I had a feeling this would happen unfortunately. Western AAA gaming companies only care about profit nowadays and the Dead Space Remake didn’t sell “well enough” for them. The only AAA developer I support nowadays is Capcom since they’re the only ones who’s games still feel like the golden age of AAA gaming and haven’t fully succumbed to western greed. I like the general quality of their games and respect the way they handle microtransactions in their new Resident Evil titles. Feels very fair since you know exactly what you’re getting from the purchase and doesn’t revolve around loot boxes or gambling (looking at you Apex Legends). It’s good old microtransactions that are simply there to further support the developer if you feel like it. Also love the fact they still do singleplayer DLC expansions. That’s a huge plus in my book.

  • I wonder if EA was stupid and expected the Deadspace Remake to sell like 10 million copies or something. The Deadspace Remake is definitely great and lives up to the hype in my opinion, but it's not a game for everyone because not everyone likes horror games so I wasn't expecting the game to sell like 10 million copies. On Star Wars Outlaws, I'm not getting it at all since it's being made from Ubisoft. If I do get it, it'll be when it's heavily discounted.

    • It doesn’t really matter what their expectations were, if it didn’t meet it’s sales targets based on the cost of developing it plus marketing it, then they’re not going to be interested in a sequel. Given the insane expectations of gamers nowadays towards AAA games it was never going to be cheap to develop. This idea of publisher expectations has become sort of magical spell in the minds of some people, whereby some gamers seem to think that if a publisher just set their expectations lower than the game would magically become a success regardless of whether the sales are enough to recoup all the expenses. They could have spent less on the remake by giving it less fancy graphics and sound, or by not bothering with new additions like making the Ishimura one consistent play space. But then *those* gamers (you know the ones) would have complained that it didn’t have good enough graphics and it hadn’t added anything over the original in terms of features and it would have sold even less.

  • I still remember getting borderlands 2 with the season pass because I knew that in 3 months when I'm still working on completing every quest that I know they will release essentially 3 additional small games worth of content. Now if I look at a new release game it's $70 plus a $60 season pass with absolutely no chance that the dlc content is anything but cut content because they released the game 1 1/2 years early and broken.

    @Renagale@Renagale15 күн бұрын
    • Hot take: Ubisoft has shown with their major Assassin's Creed titles that they're capable of making giant DLCs that add up to a solid expensive season pass. But the 20 additional dollars for cosmetics and the potential for the season pass to not include all content still makes it kinda BS.

Outlaws is $69.99. So borderlands was about $2 cheaper. And then the season pass was another $40 at release. Thats $54.07 in today’s money. So Borderlands 2 was $120 for the game and season pass in today’s money. Outlaws is $110 for the season pass and game. The $130 version comes with extra cosmetics but isn’t needed

  • When it comes to “Digital Deluxe Editions”, I don’t mind paying a few extra bucks to get the soundtrack (if it’s good) BUT Digital art books should be unlocked after you’ve finished a game.

    • For that price tag I'd expect a physical book that's been signed by the voice actors and contaibs a DVD with a 30+ minute "Making Of" documentary. Not a PDF some intern made using concept art that was created for the game anyway during development.

    • @@KryyssTV I’m more taking about an extra $10-$15 that regular game developers charge. I bought the extra stuff for BG3 (mostly for the DOS2 stuff) if you’re charging more than that, you can suck the life and joy right out of my butthole. BUT that’s just my opinion. I really like the work that goes into a great musical score in good video games.

  • 16:50 Likewise, with that logic, players should be able to ask for a refund or at least get a portion of their money back if the game turns out to be a waste of time upon completing.
