Even wondered what would happen if your car's engine ran out of oil, but were too afraid to test it out? Well, wonder no more! Mat's brought along a Honda Civic, Peugeot 206 and Ford Focus to see what would happen to these everyday heroes if you try and run them when they're completely dry of fluid. But which will rum for the longest? Let us know in the comments, then watch the video to find out!

I’ve been a mechanic for 10 years next month. Only car I’ve ever seen run after loosing a drain plug is a civic. Thing came in after driving in the highway at 120. Air cooling I guess. No oil, cracked intake manifold, and exhaust manifold, spark knocking like an SOB. Only issue is the clutch needed to be replaced… If you want a reliable car, buy a Honda. If you want a reliable truck buy a hilux/Tacoma.
I’ve gained a lot of respect for Japanese cars. I grew up with Ford and American cars in general so that being what I knew that’s what I preached was best. But while many Japanese cars as they are from the factory are not much performance wise, they’re bullet proof, which also means you can throw boost at stock engines and outrun a lot of muscle cars. They’re definitely good cars. And something I thought I’d never say, I think my next car is going to be a Honda
Look no further than the 6MT Accord Coupe. Absolute beast of a car. And a hella sleeper.
Toyota and Honda are total GOATs when it comes to reliablity. Everyone: It's impossible for an engine to run without oil Honda: they called me a madman..

It ran with coke tho
honda: hold my coke
It had oil. Look at the dash.
Note the oil light wasn't on in the Honda. The sump must be designed so that when the oil is drained, just enough is left to feel the oil system for a few minutes.
I noticed that too. The oil pan on those Civics most definitely does not retain a significant amount of oil after it's drained though. Makes me wonder if they faked the Honda result and left some oil in it. That combined with how long as it lasted, it looks like they might have just drained the coolant from the Honda.
@@averyalexander2303 nah lol its just a honda
@@averyalexander2303 unlikely they faked it. I accidentally ran mine(similar model to this, british made, MA9) with the oil critically low for days because I wasn't aware of a leak. After realizing my mistake, filled it up, fixed the leak(it was from the dickhead that fucked up my drain plug), and it ran just fine, even the piston rings were ok, I can't explain it, but there's definitely some insane engineering behind their 90's motors.
@@fudgepads19 There really is, 90's Hondas are incredibly well built. I recently bought a 1997 Civic with the D16Y7 and it still runs as good as new after 27 years and 354K miles. Original engine and trans except gaskets, belts, cap, rotor, spark plugs, filters, etc. It was owned by an older Honda tech for nearly its whole life, so it was very well maintained and not riced.
You are right. If the oil pressure light glass isn't on, there is still enough oil. The connecting-rod bearings in a Honda engine are nothing out of the ordinary; they would have failed as quickly as the others without pressurized oil. And depending on whether the engine has a cast-iron or aluminum block, the pistons can lock up more or less quickly without cooling. A french channel did the same thing with a Citroën Saxo, and as with the Honda, they were able to go several kilometers "without oil" before the warning light came on. Because here too, there was enough oil left to pump.
This is reality ! With my Honda 1.8 civic fb8, I travelled to another city from my town, around 120 km-s, without engine oil... Honda's motors are really f. good !

Love it
Do you know about The Grand Tour? Seems you don't
And we don't mind that
and i actually like it
would love to see this test with Toyota, Volvo, Mercedes, BMW.. all added to the mix :)
Well we found Honda's best advertisement.
It was the saddest agony I've ever seen. RIP Honda. Now they cant hurt you anymore ...
Painful, It fought to stay alive. She didn’t want to go
chill we can swap the 100hp engine
You can just bring the Honda to the mechanic
No worries it's a honda
The fact that that thing kept trying to start and run shows that if they kept the fluids in it they could have beat on it for days and it wouldn't give a shit
Those Honda engines are just insanely durable. Amazing
