It’s the 10th day of Christmas here at the Château and time to get the trees decorated in the grand salon, but what should be a straight forward job turns into a two day ordeal for Terry.

About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.

I’m loving this, the chateau decorations are fabulous and when the chateau is lit, it looks magical. Today I realised I was singing ‘three phase electrics’…😂

This old chateau sure has slowly woken up from years and years of beauty sleep - all from the entire families love and hard work......it`s amazing how the unrestored chateau looks alive and ready for another hundred years of festive life and happiness - all helped along under Terry`s watchful interior designer "golden" eye.... 💖💖💖💖

Totally agree with your decision on the ribbon Terry. Looks much better now. You certainly have an eye for what works. Jealous of some of the decorative glass baubles you have and I’m certainly stealing the gold sprayed holly idea. Terry nearly did me out of one of my favourite games- spotting how often he says cha-eau (in best Middlesbrough) instead of chateau. Can we just say a big Thank You, as I lay with my mum on her hospital bed it has been so uplifting to watch her smile (a lot) when she watches you put the decorations up, her favourite part is watching you put every bauble, every bit of holly and flowers on the trees. We don’t get to go home for Christmas and Mum had every decoration perfectly placed, it was wonderful and magical time of year. Like Mum always says “We make the best of what we got”.Merry Christmas 🎄 subscribed 👍
Clipping holly right off the tree is something special. Here in Ontario it's too cold for holly trees to grow and thrive. Some try, but unless sheltered and coddled and maybe if in south Southern Ontario, it's a no go. We buy it in tiny bits at great expense, like mistletoe. Day 10 hasn't disappointed, guys. Having fun tuning in each day and watching the magic happen. As for the musical selections (even the last count down off key bit :)), ten out of ten. Charlotte sending merry, merry hugs. 💖

Oh my goodness, where do I begin? Terry, I am fascinated to see what you will do next! You are so talented! I talk up your blog to everyone I know. The chandelier you chose for the salon is exquisite and is the icing on the cake after the pine swags you and your mom created along with the gorgeously decorated trees. Love the bells Tracy has added in the middle, also. I can’t wait to see the finished hula hoop “chandelier” in the front entry. Brilliant idea! Ash is so cute when he rolls his eyes and says “Terry wanted” as if he thinks it is unnecessary & frivolous, when, in the end, you can see he just adores all of Terry’s ideas and knows it will be gorgeous. I was thrilled when Terry added the pine garland to adorn the railings in the front. Those, along with the wreath and that beautiful tree, really topped off the facade of the chateau beautifully. Lastly, your B-roll is the best - so professional! I enjoy seeing the slight variations each day. I don’t know how any of you are getting any sleep at all, what with the extra decorating being done and all the extra editing of doing a daily vlog. I hope you plan to take some time to put your feet up in front of a roaring fire, to look around at the fruits of your labour once it is all done to your satisfaction because it really is superb. Johnathon is so cute in the 12 Days of Christmas bit. He is having so much fun with it and what a little helper he is! I see a book in this: "Terry & Ash (and Tracy,Tony and Jonathan) Decorate Chateau-Style for the Holidays". Take many photos so you can show a progression over the years. I love the found objects as much as the glam. Hula Hoop with Fairy Lights, check. Gold sprayed Holly, check.

I smiled through this entire video. This lovely lady is gorgeous dressed for Christmas and I'm sure her heart is lighter knowing the love and attention you are giving her. Are you going to be putting furniture in the salon? I was thinking if you are it would be nice if after Christmas and the holiday decorations have been taken down, that you furnish and dress the room and enjoy it as a Shabby Chic place to rest when you take a break from working on the upstairs rooms.

I just love the way all the decorations are coming together! And I love the chandelier!!! A little idea for next year; you could put net lights on the canopies either side of the tower. Then the steps will be lit with a gentle glow and they are relatively easy to put up. 🎄

I am always amazed by Terry’s creativity, but, I think, never more so when he made the chandelier out of the hula hoop with the fairy lights. You are a true artist.

When you get ready to wire the room that has no plugs/switches, you can pull off the base board and chisel out behind to run wires, and install the plus in the baseboard..
"Oh no Terry" You're going to need more decorations next year whatever will you do? Ugh darn it! I guess you will have to go shopping. What a hardship (tongue in cheek - big laughing smile). The trees are a beautiful. Shiny. Gorgeous pine and foliage filled in with classy tasteful gold, and of course the music was perfect.

Beautiful work Terry and elves. As for running new electrics in the grand salon.... you may get away with tall baseboard moldings to run the electric cables behind. I did similar work in an old house I had. I used nicely edged wood panels to the plug boxes. These sat on top of the 10in high baseboard. I finished it all of with an additional 1" 1/4 round molding on top of the baseboard with 45°cuts going up and around the electric box panels. This tied the electric box panels in with the baseboards. The 1/4 round molding was stained darker than the baseboard and electric box panels. In the end the look was more architectural than necessity. I used the same wide baseboard to trim around the doors to hide the channels cut in the stone and the electric cables going to the switches. The same wood panels used again for the wall electric switch boxes and the power curtain switches. Like on the baseboard these wood panel were up against the doorway molding. This too was finished off with the same 1" 1/4 round. The same trim went uninterrupted around the the entire room; from the baseboard, around the doors, and around the window reveals. Just be sure the electric cables are protected as required under French building regulations and are at the same height (in the middle of the baseboard) all the way around the room to avoid accidentally nailing through it. Creating a digital diary with detailed descriptions, accompanied by more than ample photographs, will be extremely helpful for future building works. It is so much easier to work when you know exactly where the hidden electrics and plumbing are located. You'll want to invest in a dust extraction kits for your stone cutting tools. Stone, render, mortar, cement, and brick dust acts like sandpape. I have to admit the timing of the new variant sssUuuuuucccccmkkkkkkssssss! I've enjoyed this holiday season as I normally would, like hundreds of millions of others around the world...yet again. Therefore having these vlogs has been a necessity. Thank you so much for allowing us to peak into your beautiful lives. I've enjoyed it all immensely. Cheers!

Beautiful! A room for all seasons. The classic, natural swags and tree are lovely with the tall windows and high ceilings. The chandelier is pretty during daylight so must be spectacular after dark. Come summer with shutters open and a gentle breeze, will be equally special.
Looks like a disco ball..lol. I was expecting it to spin. So much work but it will be lovely in the end.

The trees turned out beautifully done. Love how you're able to gather from the property for your decorations. Enjoyed watching this one. I have pine cones, wooden ornaments, red/black and black/white checked flannel bows on my natural tree. The tree skirt is an old gray cable sweater. Wooden beads for garland wrapped around the tree. I added two turtle doves with real feathers as well.
