It’s the 11th day of Christmas here at the Château and a day we have waited for so long.
We take a trip to Alençon where there have a lovely Christmas market and take a look around this beautiful town, plus we go to collect our carte de sejour, making us now all legal to live in France.

About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.

I’m so glad I found you lot through Stephanie! Your such a beautiful family, and you work so well together. I’m not close to my family, I’d give anything to have a family like yours. And, your giving Jonathan the best gift of all, the family together, a magnificent huge bunch of land to explore, chickens to feed, learning new things and a new language. We live in NYC and my son grew up with concrete playgrounds and playing in the street. If I’d known anything about French chateaux life 29 yrs ago, we’d have made the move in a heartbeat! Fresh air, tons of places to play and explore. What a truly wonderful place to be. I’m so grateful you all were able to do this. Hard work pays off, and you’ll get enjoyment for a lifetime. When my children were growing up, they are in their 30s and married, I always had lots of Christmas decorations. But a few years ago I decided to go small. I still miss all of the large amounts of decorations especially seeing your's. My daughter has all of the decorations now.

Beautiful town there. It's been fun to watch you all, I sympathize with Ash's shivering, Tony's back, and share Jonathon's excitiment. Sometimes wish I was game to scramble up ladders and lean over but you've been very generous in sharing your holiday preparations so it's been Christmas Preparations Re-visited for me and I am sure many of us who are older. Some folk wouldn't get christmas at all if they didn't have families like yours who share! So thank you all and I feel we give back to you with smiling energy.

I will be 81 on Wednesday. If my health holds until they are available, I would love to rent one of the suites around Christmas time and spend a few days there. It all seems so warm and inviting.
Have a good look at that mantle clock! I have one, very like it, I bought cheap, and after having had it for some years, I decided to clean the case. I realized, that it might be better, than I originally thought (if you want to clean the case, use something very mild!). Turns out, mine was antique, from a very good maker, and worth quite alot of money!!

'sounds a bit like Derek'😂. Part of the fun in watching you all is taking in the different expressions and pronunciations of the English language! We all think the other 'English' is the one with the accent. I will often have to go back a few times to catch what's been said....yesterday when Ash said 'I'm stood out here spray painting the Holly' it was just the way he said 'I'm stood out here...' that had me going again....sounded Olde English LOL And 'Tony' perhaps you are right! many of us have parked our lives, on hold for various reasons, and spend a bit too much time watching KZhead, however, I now have a bug to travel to rural France. Of European ancestry (parents were part of the huge postwar cohort) and now at 65 I never gave it further thought, till now. .... even street musicians in Alencon... Did you put up Nativity? I haven't seen one! I always love the Manger. With little baby Jesus. Wiseman, shepherds. The sheep and the cattle. With angels above. And Joseph and Mary. I had one that had kitties and dogs with it. Is beautiful. It had 70 pieces in it. A whole village. Sadly I lost it when my house burned down. Merry Christmas to you all.

I love mulled wine too. I remember walking around with some at the Nürnberg Christkindlesmarkt on a cold December evening decades ago and buying some of the handmade crafts available at the stalls there. A beautiful town.
