This format really suits James well, he came off as genuine in a way thats tough in the more scripted videos.
Honestly it just felt so smooth and casual. Agreed, James is suited well for what this channel wants to do
He is difficult to contain
-IOI- everything suits James. He’s great
James is just a goddamn good reviewer. Back when they did their review of cheap wireless earbuds I bought one based upon his recommendation. It's kinda corny to say it but watching James talk about hardware is kinda like having your friend tell you about his new piece of machinery he's just very casual and it completely works in his favor.
James is a piece of shit and I can't stand his fucking voice. Jk, he's awesome and I love him
This is like old ltt
That’s the idea. A channel they can put videos they would worry about the performance of on the main channel.
@@Drazil100 And instant grab another Play Button XD but yeah this is like old school LTT unboxings but in 4K and with more hosts.
@Khaffit imagine if they figured out how to get the old floorplans for the house they rented - then they built a set that looked identical? omg yes. pls linux do it
Just needs the old intro of Linus cutting himself out of a box now

When we say we want "old" Linus back, we don't mean slim shady Linus. This is what we mean. Great work on this video, Linus Jr.
If I never see or hear Linus again it would be too soon.

I gotta say after half a year using the Samsung 49" I'm a convert to the format, especially for timeline based stuff like music production and video editing. Gaming is... indulgent as well. The legs though, they huge AF and get in the way, looks like these still would on most consumer desks.
What are the pros and cons of a curved 49" for music production?
It’s great for PenTesting too. I can have one window at my right side let’s say Kali, and a browser or OneNote ya left side but wide enough to make it very useful. I don’t see myself back using two monitors anymore . Curve monitor are more immersive and use less cables and less desk space .
ok I gota question and since you've been using it you'll know. I only got a 1080 while iam getting a 3080 that wont be probably for a few months. Is a 1080 able to work with something like this?
Same, had my Samsung CRG9 for a few months now, and I am never going back. It's great for work (I work in IT), great for gaming and nice just for general usage if you like to multitask.
Get a high quality arm for it and enjoy a clean desk with all the benefits.
James: "Man did they ever wrap that up...is everyone's going to look like this?" Nope...Just the ones they send to Linus.

I didn't realise how good their AGON line warranty was.
Assuming you can get them to honour it, I have 3 they refused to do it with so no more for AOC for me, buyer beware.
@@jamieferguson935 That's quite disappointing to hear from what sounded so promising. Did they give a reason for their refusal to honour the warranty?
@@jamieferguson935 I have had to have them replace 1 monitor for me, they paid for shipping even.
@@PurplProto They went back to the retailer middle of last year who sent them back to AOC who sent a letter with the monitors sent back saying "unrepairable" as they don't do panel repairs but they were meant to be replaced. Yes. Yeeees. Let the Linus flow through you.
James was born to do unboxing videos, he brings a lot of energy that makes the video much more enjoyable to watch
AOC doesn’t offer advanced replacement. That warranty has expired according to customer support. They refuse to replace my 49 inch monitor for dead pixels. I even have the calls recorded as well.
I'd like to see a video on this
@ShortCirtuit please add this to the description or something, I would be furious if I bought this monitor after watching this video and found that out the hard way.
I owned an AOC monitor back in the day. Somethingsomething 27". AOC warranty is a joke, especially when it comes to dead pixels. - Few months after buying it, backlight bleeding became an issue. Like 15cm (6 inch?) from the bottom. - Went to the store I bought it from. They sent it to AOC. - Got a "new" monitor after a month of waiting. It had dead pixels. One in the center and like three or four in scattered around the corners or something. - Went to the store again. They are reluctant to send it to AOC since there wasn't enough dead pixels. AOC had a policy or something. Had to argue for a while. - After almost few months, I got the second "new" monitor. Dead pixels and backlight bleeding. - Demand my money back on the phone. They said okay. Went to the store. They said no and that they wouldn't send it to AOC anymore since "not enough dead pixels". - Have a huge argument with the guy because the monitor was supposed to be new. I didn't buy a broken monitor. - Leave since they clearly don't want to help me with this. Remember they had another store few kilometers away and go there. - Explain the situation. The guy asks if it would be OK to send it one more time to AOC and see what happens. Sure my dude, I'm already dead inside. - Third "new" monitor arrives after few months. Same issues. Get my money back and receive apologies for the whole thing. - Get a call few weeks later. It's the guy from the second store: "I had to find out why you had so bad luck with the monitors. It turns out they repair broken monitors and send them as new monitors to customers. Sorry, just thought you should know." Thanks AOC.

In csgo the Hud can be put into "triple monitor mode" to keep the hud in the middle
Was bout to comment this.
maybe they recorded this before the feature was added, as that feature is fairly recent
@@IanSzalai well you could actually move the HUD closer to the middle since years. I don't know about the triple monitor mode, but I used to play HUD 4:3 style while playing 16:9 aspect ratio. Then you don't have to go too far off the middle of your screen while checking the radar, which is pretty important for cs.

I really like this format for just quick "hey look at this!" Kinds of videos. Keep up the of work!
Great job loved the vid. Good length and informative but what was that beeping in background.
At first when Linus gave a teaser for this channel in his LTT video, i was not completely sold on the idea that they needed a seperate channel exclusively for unboxing because "LTT has evloved out of it". 2 videos i only now get what he meant by it, and i love this channel already
Dikshit649 In which video did he talk about it?
Instead of one channel having multiple different shows and formats, each one gets its own channel. That way you have more names in the hat for the algorithm to show to new people. It makes sense to directly increase your exposure in this way.
I'll be honest, I didn't even realize this wasn't ltt xD

Love it! Btw, you can move UI in CSGO more towards the center. And if you're rocking 48:9 then you should use the triple screen mode in CS. I always wanted a 32:9 borderless super ultrawide like this, but with the ROG buzzel hiding kit, i'll keep my triple screens thank you very much. I have a video idea for you guys tho (maybe kinda tedious but i would love to have this one question of mine answered). Forza Motorsports 2,3 and 4 had triple screen support on the xbox 360 given you had three copies of the game and three 360s with one running the game as master and the other two being slaves. I always wondered if it can be run with two screens. Now when those games came out, racing with two screens with a bezzel in the middle was out of the question, but with the functionality of having two displays side by side with no bezzel in the middle, you could have a really nice bezzel less sim experience. I would love to see you guys try something like that!
The video presentation is excellent, well done James
I love the simple and clean format and I look forward to all the random tech they’ll get to unbox without worrying if it’s big or important enough. Thank you!
Pretty cool that this channel has only been up a couple of days and already has 266k subs.
What the hell I didn't realise this isn't a LTT video
I mean ShortCircuit only has 3% of the subscribers that Linus Tech Tips has and only 15% of the people that watched the announcement video where they asked people to subscribe actually did.
@@10Tie which is a pretty solid conversion ratio for a channel that is basically an empty shell
This suites James quite well. I can see the excitement in his eyes of opening tech. Keep making them!
Great video, love the new format. However, that background sound/music annoys the hell out of me.
I'm so glad that short circuit has been launched - I miss this type of content from LTT
Personally, I just prefer the ergonomics of having 2 monitors over just one, since I just usually have stuff like hardware monitors or videos on the second screen.
haha yes i see you are an educated individual as well i seriously need to stop with the monitors though, i have like 3 different softwares on my second monitor, it's pretty much useless for anything else because of that
@@bananya6020 Can't you also simulate a second monitor through a second cable?
i'm actually using a 32:9 with a 21:9 on top basically for that reason but the 32:9 can be split with two different cables into two and software like windows powertoys works really well
@@bananya6020 I know someone that needs to buy a third monitor...
I own the Samsung 49 ultrawide, it's got software built in called PBP (picture-by-picture) that allows you to use it with two different HDMIs or DisplayPorts as if it's two separate 27 inch monitors, instead of one ultrawide. So you've got the advantage of two large monitors or one ultrawide and all you have to do is hit a button to switch between modes.
4:30 you can actually change hud positions for ultra wide displays in CSGO's settings...
Loving the new channel! Great idea to just throw out there weird or interesting products that just dont fit the theme of your other channels!
I love James as a host. He's direct and there's no fuss.
PLEASE see if you can get Luke to do one of these vids, I imagine they’re filmed in a couple hours or less so it should be easier than a main vid :D
A video gets a maximum work time of around 9.5 hours. This includes scripting, filming and editing. (According to WAN show Linus)
Sinom that’s for a full LTT video, and includes the work load of everyone, not the host.
2:54 that "Anticipated" sounds like voice over.
Really digging this new format.
More content like this please! This channel has infinite possibilities
Love the casual nerdy theme of this video

Something about what james said about the UI being on the far edges; In csgo (and some other games) you can adjust the safezone and put it closer to the center
2nd vid and I already love the new format!
DAMMIT There's a beeping tone in the music that PERFECTLY matches the error alert alarm on my UPSs and kicks me into OH NO mode
Is that what I'm hearing? I thought I was hearing my fucking oven during this entire video.
I thought I was hearing a car outside backing up
My first monitor, in 1992, was an AOC. I still would recommend them to ANYONE looking for a display for a great price that will just work. Good job, James. Really well done.

I really like the format! The one thing that's putting me off, though, is the cuts. I don't mind the occasional cut here and there, but when cuts occur mid-sentence and multiple times at that, it IS a bit jarring. Still though, great format, guys!
My guess is that these videos are made with relatively little video footage. Most likely a couple takes and then edited to make sense. They are most likely not going to re-shoot things to make them more fluid. Its something to consider while they are filming for sure but the nature of these lower production videos is this as a result. All that being said I love the channel concept and absolutely think there is a place for it.
They get a time limit to edit thses things, so yeah it comes across as quick and dirty.
@@tmarritt imagine talking in a complete sentence or doing a single retake
I’ve been struggling to pick a monitor that’ll work well with my laptop(MacBook pro) but it needs the 87w to charge and I fear I’ll buy a monitor that won’t charge it. If y’all could test that on some of these monitors, like the extent of capabilities on that usb-c. It would be a blessing to hear y’all’s input on this dilemma.

Hey James, which 1440p curved gaming monitors would you recommend for 2020?
Ultra wide monitors look good on paper, but for people who multi-task they just don't make very much sense. You can't split windows effectively, or run programs simultaneously in a easy, user friendly way like you can with dedicated multi-monitor setup.. and Gaming on a monitor like this? It's an increased FOV sure - Streaming and Game capture is out of the question though. It's like someone fan boyed over panorama photography so much that they made this...not so well thought out device.
Actually, we are considering switching to them in public safety. The mullion gets in the way on traditional monitors. GIS mapping, Computer Aided Dispatching, video surveillance with 60 cameras up, very interested.
I have been using multiple monitors for about 2 decades and affordable high performance monitors like these are great compared to buying 3 $400-600 high performance monitors (gaming, color accurate ect...). Just certain programs have compatibility issues. But after spending 20 out of 30 years using computers dealing with display issues, its not really an issue.
can this be a james standalone channel?
No no, we need Anthony, Riley, Alex, and pretty much everyone not Linus on this channel. Now if it could have no more Linus videos, that would be great.
