  • Alcaraz biggest weakness is his lack of focus on certain matches especially when he gets nervous. He just is so committed on entertaining the audience forgetting that also playing fully focused can be entertaining. He would have closed this match in straight sets had he been focused. He is easily distracted and it almost cost him the match today. Against someone like Sinner who is highly disciplined and focused, he would have lost this match. Phew! He almost cried out of relief when his opponent hit the ball long. Hopefully they work on his mental game for his next matches.

    • This happens to everyone. It’s happened to Nadal, Djokovic, Federer. It’s natural. Struff is a great opponent who does a lot of things to make Alcaraz uncomfortable, but a lot of it was bad luck that got into Carlos’s head in that 5-3 game. It’s not his “biggest weakness,” that would be his serve. Also let’s not forget that Carlos is 2-0 in grand slam finals, has won nearly every M1000 final he’s played, and saved a match point vs Sinner at USO2022. Big match performance is definitely not something he deserves criticism for.

    • @@jaimedelgado4924 exactly, I've said this before, Alcaraz's biggest strength is also his biggest weakness, he's always looking to hit a highlight shot instead of just "boring" but high-percentage shots like Djokovic and Sinner

      @cks2020693@cks202069316 күн бұрын
    • True. It is his biggest weakness. This is the difference between Alcaraz compared to Sinner and Novak. Alcaraz loves being relaxed, playing loose, and the entertainer so much that he gets distracted. He is struggling to find the balance. He has done this in his first two matches in this tournament and today was the worst of them all. I'm sure his team is working on this.

Still it is also some thing to even after screwing things up make it right. Still it must have been a show - I wasn't able to watch the match - cause my home broadcaster chose to show Sinner :/ .. And thanks Madrid Open for putting these matches at the same time! Well done! .. i've learned some time ago that when Carlitos plays Struff there is always a tough fight for Charlie.

    • I felt the same. It's incredible how Alcaraz recovered. I was sure that after getting broken again while serving for the match and up 40-0, then get broken, he would lose. He managed to win but this is something very worrying. It also happened to Serena Williams at AO and Roger during his last Wimbledon final. Players must learn never to give up the intensity till they have won the last point. They have to respect their opponent and imagine they will still be fighting. I hope Alcaraz learned that lesson the hard way after this match. He should be thanking his stars.

    • Sadly not to be😢 Though Rafa handled one of a few goodbye speeches (Rome? RG) so well. His sister and mom were in tears. So was I ! It's going to be a tough few weeks ahead.

  • Alcaraz struggling against struff like this on clay court is bad man. This is why he won't be a dominant #1 player like the big 3 were. Too shakey
