  • My dad bought one on launch back in 2007! I remember I was so excited to see it, he showed me pictures and even as a kid I was incredibly excited for the old design being used as the base for the new one! Then he got it, he worked on the oil rigs in alberta, canada, and a chevy Silverado half ton with mud tires, he had 4 of them, they would always get stuck and were kinda just disposable pieces of junk after 150,000km. He modified the FJ right away after he got it so it would be ready for his first hitch back on the rig. He got a set of 35 inch mud tires, a 4 inch lift kit, cool rockstar rims, and then he rockgaurded the bumpers and the roof rack, and painted anything that wasnt black, black. Including the white roof, thing was blacked out, he put limo tint on the windows and everything. Cool to think that he couldnt have done all that in 2007 right at launch if it wasnt for the aftermarket support! It was a cool truck, he never got stuck in it, not even once over 3 years driving through shit that would get a chevy stuck. He would drive over fallen trees, though roads that were flooded out, and it didnt matter if the lease itself had knee deep mud he was getting in and out of there! Thing was a beast in the mud and on the lease roads!! I miss that truck so so much!

    • Thong Slapper two reasons really, first, the US market doesn’t have the 70series, basically just Australia, NZ and South Africa. Second, straight out of the box, the FJ is the better car. The 70 series is a ton heavier and the engine is down rated from what it’s capable of. Now, that said, spend some money on the 70 and yeah, you’ll outperform the FJ, but the FJis half the price kitted out.

      @jamesmckenzie9551@jamesmckenzie95514 жыл бұрын
    • If you compare reliability, the FJ doesn't have a leg to stand on. 70 series Land Cruiser's from the 80s and 90s still run, with nearly a million km's in Australia and South Africa. In the bush, they don't break down.

    • @@XxJRDN2000xX my 08 FJ (F**K Jeep) has 411,000 miles on it. For 8 year it had the same schedule.. Monday - Friday about the same... Start it up at 8am, drive 60-120 miles on paved road, then hang a right and not see pavement for 6hrs. Mostly dirt, creek beds, or boulders (6in diameter plus)... Up and down the southern coal fields of West Virginia. Normally I just left it running.. Even pumping gas.. It would stay running anywhere from 6hrs to 16hrs a day.. Mostly 8hrs a day, 5 days a week, 50 weeks a year, for 7-3/4yrs... 15,500hrs... Or 411,000 miles. With 2/3rds being off road. I got stuck 3 times. Once when snow piled up in front, then I went over... It turned into a turtle.. If the wheels are unweighted.... Having all 4 spin doesn't matter. 2nd time was 20degree incline with clay on top of bedrock.. Slide backwards into a deep Ditch and unweighted the tires.. They brought a CAT D9R to get me out.. Anything else would have been stuck with me. I made it out of that same place 3 times before, just a bit too much rain. Maintenance wise, 7x front brake calipers (both sides). Pistons would seize.. I was in the muddt creek at least twice a week. The worst was the rear differential vent filter got clogged and blew out a wheel seal, and then a drive shaft seal. I have all but 1, stock universe joints. Had to change the alternator around 275k miles... Broke both half shafts, at different times. Dropped into big rock holes, going too fast. And now I have some wheel sensor with a loose connection, or bad sensor.. But motor is solid, never touched the transmission. If the 4wd fails to disengage, time to grease your universal joints. On the other hand.. A coworker had a 09 jeep Rubicon. Lugnuts sheared off 3-4 different times, allowing the wheel to fall off while driving down the highway. It broke every 6months, needing thousand to repair it. By 135k miles, it cost more to repair than it was worth.. The cut the losses and sold it... Then they got a Tacoma for its replacement... When the saw my truck never having any hard break. It's a tank! It took 40k miles of pothole filled roads twice a day, 5 days a week, for a year just to get the suspension broke in right. I still have all stock suspension. Still stiff, but not too stiff. I will set off into the deep woods, no other traffic but me, any night... And not have 1 worry about my truck not making it. The FJ's Spirt is just as strong as it ever was!

There is even a built-in air compressor to air up tires after off-roading (with an air whip). I believe up to the current 2019 it still hasn’t received KDSS. It would be nice to see a refresh with: -KDSS -Redesigned body mounts in the front wheel wells to make it easier to fit bigger tires -Factory installed front winch -HID headlights -Mechanical rear locker rather than the E-locker (assuming that would play nice with CRAWL), -Seats with even the slightest bit of lumbar support. Great car and I wouldn’t be surprised if some version of it came back to the US along with the the next generation of the Prado/4Runner/GX.

This is a long shot but I'm gonna reach out anyway, It'd be awesome, actually insane if you could do one or feature Nissan Patrols (Especially Y60s and Y61s), I can understand tho why you wouldn't since the cars never stepped foot in the US, however having said that the car has a massive massive cult following and is insanely well known in the off roading community and internationally. Its legendary TB48DE(the Skyline engines bigger, angrier, badder brother) is a legend in its own right. Just look up sand drag and offroading events in The Middle East, Australia, and Iceland and you'll know what I mean. Also you should see what the Emiratis can do with that thing, the Arabs are craizy over it, and some of then tune it upto 3000 Hrsprs! Its an icon in the Middle East, Australia, Philippines, South Africa, Africa and Nothern Europe. It had an insanely rich history and an insane following and fanbase. Oh well, I hope someday.
