  • The thing I hate about every up to speed video, is that each one makes me want to buy that specific car. Even if I had no interest in it before, I'll want it after watching it. You guys are partially responsible for the 4Runner in my driveway right now

My friend recommend I look at 4Runners when I was looking to buy my first car, but I dismissed it because I wasn't big on Toyotas (I come from a Ford family). These videos helped change my mind. 10/10, would buy a Toyota again

  • The way they handled the frame issue speaks volumes about the company’s customer relations!

    @EditCity@EditCity4 жыл бұрын
    • ...You mean AFTER they were sued? lol. FYI, they didn't fix the frames on the new trucks. So up to 2017's are in on the recall. 2018+ had a special wax used when parts of the frame are pressed together. That's it. That said, I have a Tacoma and I've sprayed everything that will rust with cosmoline. Should be good to go.

    • @@BB-nn9en Exactly. A lot of people are complaining about the big three trucks rusting out too, however, I have always said that proper rust proofing is up to the customer. It's simply too expensive and time consuming for the manufacturer to give a prick about that, so when you buy new, cosmolene, undercoat and spray the living hell out of the metal underneath, remove the plastic crevice plugs and spay wax inside the frames, etc. That will help more than anything.

  • They (Toyota) bought my 1998 Taco due to frame rust, gave me KBB excellent condition price... it was far from excellent condition, 338,000 miles, every body panel was bent, interior well used, and the clutch was just about gone. The way they handled that is the reason I bought an 06, and last year a 2020.

  • Coolest Tacoma story I’ve heard was about a green beret who literally used it as mobile cover when insurgents ambushed an outpost. He basically drifted it right up to the terrorists faces to help the defense. After the fight, it was beat to shit and had an RPG shell stuck in a quarter panel. The dude took a picture of it and sent it to Toyota with a letter of thanks for such a badass truck.

Other than basic maintenance, that thing served me well. I sold it to a 15 year old kid. It's going to be a father and son project. He was super stoked and so was I. It's going to a good home. The only stipulation in the sale was I get the first offer to buy it back if he ever sells it. Almost forgot, that kid told me about this channel too. I've been sick for the last two days binge watching. 👍

  • One little known thing about the Tacomas is that at the beginning of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan 2002, the U.S. Special Operation Forces purchase a lot of these trucks from U.S. dealers, modify them and them ship them to the Area of Operations (AO). There were many reasons for that. 1. The Humvees 6.5L diesel engine is very noisy and is inefficient, compare to a gasoline one. 2. Both Northern Alliance and the Taliban forces used Toyota Hilux trucks and they were somehow similar to the Tacomas (at least in shape) and they are more under the radar than a Humvee or any other U.S. Military Vehicle. Perfect for cover U.S. Special Operations in the area. 3. In case such vehicle was destroyed in combat operations or forced to abandon it was easy to replace. I cracked one of the brake calipers and from time to time the fluid would drain out & I would just slam it into something to stop if I couldn't downshift stop. It ran until I got rid of it, it was amazing. If youtube (or the internet) had existed then, I could have made a successful channel of videos of me driving that little road warrior over signs, fences, logs, through ditches, ramming concrete light poles or brick walls as brake substitutes. Now I have a 1995 4runner...

Personally I think it ruins the credibility of the videos and makes me want to stop watching, seems like more effort went into the jokes and animation segments than actually making sure their facts are straight and line up with "their" footage.
