Xtrfy M42 is a lightweight ambidextrous gaming mouse with an interchangeable top shell. It's an extemely good gaming mouse, in my opinion possibly the best gaming mouse in 2020. Here is my Xtrfy M42 review.

  • Good review with proper information and with a chill vibe. I have my M42 Pink for almost a year now (got it for 19euro on a local game event) and I don’t have any issues with it. I used it for COD on Xbox for 3 months and since then it is my Mac mouse. Dirt doesn’t stick to the coating so imo it is one of the better coatings (Lamzu Atlantis Mini has the same experience). The best mouse feet imo are ESPtiger feet but the stock feet are good as well. I dislike the cable drag but I have a bungee incoming in this week matching with the mouse/ setup. I do wanna get the wireless model tho.

  • Shipped from Sweden this morning! I'm so excited. The M4 was a masterpiece of a shape, and I've been wanting to go back to an ambi shape. M42 should be the perfect addition to my setup. If it's as well designed as the M4, I suspect the wireless version will be the last gaming mouse I will ever buy. Cheers and happy gaming!

    • Wow, wireless M42 would be insane.. Hopefully Xtrfy makes one! But it has design wise a similiar vibe, you can instantly tell that it's a Xtrfy product in a blind test if you've held the M4 in your hand!

My hands are 19x10 cm and I have relaxed claw grip so I think this mouse would be a great upgrade but it’s hard to say until I get it in my hands. • RJN has dropped the ball with his reviews lately. He used to give the most detailed reviews but not anymore. His latest reviews feel lazy as if he lost the passion and he is becoming too opinionated. As a reviewer he should try to think outside the box and even though he states that others can have different preferences that doesn't help because it's hard to glean something useful to you this way. This and there are other guys that do deeper technical analysis for button latency, disassembly, modding and so on...

      @ecvent0r@ecvent0r3 жыл бұрын
    • @@ecvent0r RJN is like oldschool reviewer nowdays. Its still somewhat interesting to see his reviews, but cant say those reviews he has done lately really affect in anyway anymore. Like he's not pro at anything, nor does his reviews have enough depth so his opinion doesnt has that much of a weight. You get more information by just googling around and a lot of styles how to measure how well mouse can fit into your hand. None of RJNs recommended mouses to my handsize has not worked with me at all tbh.

      @RulezXP@RulezXP3 жыл бұрын
    • @@RulezXP Agree, but I think a lot of people still look up to him as "The Best" and just take him at his words and here lies the danger. He is most misleading to people who start to understand some things but are not yet knowledgeable enough. It's his website that is the worst part of it, he gives you numbers and that may give the illusion of knowledge and authority. As you said, his sizing is just plain wrong, I tried to test his sizing calculator and it would give ridiculous recommendations of mice I for a fact know are too big for me. From what I can tell he doesn't really take height into account much, but from my experience this is the metric that can make the most difference with just 1 or 2 mm making the mouse too big or small. Same with his recent weight ratio which is complete BS by again not taking any height component into account. The interesting thing is that he has some kind of collab to release his own mouse design which I am curious about and it's probably one reason the quality of his reviews dropped.

      @ecvent0r@ecvent0r3 жыл бұрын
    • @@ecvent0r Yeah Im curious about his mouse desing. But yeah, people should make their own conclusions when bying gaming mouse, if they are aiming for "endgame" (spoiler: theres no endgame).

  • I have old FK2, now changed it for M42. It's hard to compare a bit worn mouse from early 2016, but wheel on FK2 is awful after 7 years - rubber is a bit greasy, it reacts to pressure before it register clicks so it feels soft and it does not register very slow turn at all (firmware issue?). Maybe it always was like that, but i think rubber was different at least. Anyways, this was the reason for replacement. Button switches feels and sound exactly the same. Again, it might be 85 vs 59g, it might be old vs new mouse "sliding pads" or whatever it's called, but it feels much lighter and slides better. I instantly exchanged default hump for lower one, because for me it was angled too much upwards and not comfortable. My only issue with M42 are holes on the side, it just feels weird. And it M42 does not look much smaller but it feels much smaller. Hard to say if it's good or bad, there's more room for vertical adjustments by fingers, but my palm is not resting on the mouse so hard to comment on long term comfort. Shape of the buttons is better on M42, they have some dips. Basically everything feels better except M42 is almost to small (and I have small hands) and less comfortable due to holes on sides and being too short and barely touching the palm - mouse is maybe 5mm shorter.

I've found this mouse to be the most comfortable, I'm thinking most likely due to the width. I also own the model O which I find to be very comfortable, a viper, which I do not like as much due to the flaring on the sides at the front, and a mm710 which I almost love, but find a tad bit too small (pinky feels cramped). I was curious if you think I should stick with the xm1, or if this mouse might be worth a shot as well. also wondering if there is anything comparable to the xm1 but slightly smaller/lighter available on the market? I Played few years at some cheap speed mousepad and i wanna try something else. I Play mostly cs go and warzone so i need also decent tracking. Propably in future i will put some corepads and paracord on my m42. Btw u said in the video there is no major dpi devation on the mouse but for me it was noticeable . Everyone WHO bought this mouse should downlad and install latest firmware from official website to get rid of any devation. Beside of it Great review and i would be really thankfull if u could help me with mousepad choice 🙏

  • How about compare between O- and M42? do you think which one better with fingertip? (I'm also have MM711, VIPER MINI, Logitech PRO G but nowadays still can't find the best sharp similar steelseries Kinzu mouse for fingertip...O- maybe most better until i'm found M42)

    @Herox2738@Herox27383 жыл бұрын
    • M42 is wider than the O- and has a higher profile. It really is nothing like the O- in my opinion, same as comparing the O- and the FK2.

      @hausgaming@hausgaming3 жыл бұрын
    • I used a Kinzu v1 (which started to have an issue) before buying a Model O- , and that's the reason i bought it, i wanted something similar. I don't have much experience with gaming mice, only had an original Razer Viper i bought in 2004, but i think they are pretty close in therms of shape, didn't feel any difference in my fingertip grip. I've been using the model o- the past year and more extensively the past weeks, and after an hour my hand is tired because i exert too much tension gripping the mouse. I'm searching for a different mouse with a different shape, but i don''t know very well what i need, maybe an ergo would be a nice option, or a bigger mouse so i can grip it more relaxed, but still fingertip it (18x10 hand). How do you compare the mice you have to the kinzu, in terms of comfort?

  • I wish it was good for me but it's too narrow (My hands are 19x9cm) and compared to the M4 this new mouse is not as stable and I tend to over aim. It's very easy to move around the mouse but like I said it's not as stable as the M4 which I also had to modify for a better grip. The buttons are lower than the M4 which I don't think I like but the biggest problem is that it's too narrow. I've also been trying Hyperx Pulsfire Haste which size is better and so far I play much better with that mouse.

  • So the sensor ptfe ring/foot is worthless because not the same height of the main skates so does not contact the mouse pad for extra glide, what is the point? Catch up lint, dust or debris so it does not mess with the sensor tracking? Also If you double stack the extra ptfe feet does it stop tracking due to lift off height? This has no software so cannot tune lift off from 1mm to 3mm range even if 3389 sensor is fully capable of that. Cheers!

    @Frencho9@Frencho93 жыл бұрын
    • Hi! I think I answered you on my stream right? But yes the sensor ring is not there for tracking, it's there to keep the sensor - surface distance consistent. But it's only for extreme situations, I've never had any inconsistency that would be caused by not having a sensor ring.

  • This or the Viper Mini for fingertip grip? I mainly play moba games and I would like lighter clicks. I have been using the mm710 since april and something still feels off about this mouse in my case. @paulbrad7265@paulbrad72653 жыл бұрын
    • Both are good, Viper Mini has lighter clicks with less tactility. M42 has more tactile clicks, but not as soft/easy to actuate. RVM has high lift off distance which might be irritating in MOBA, but it's a fair bit cheaper as well.
