It took me 200 days in a world of endless grass and no iron ore, but I finally built an iron farm!

Its impressive how much of this is even possible with rng, and weird rarely used game mechanics. Its like playing a rarely touched side of minecraft, and that's what makes this challenge interesting.

Just realized that if you have mud and dripstone you can dry it into clay. can't do anything with it... but still another "impossible" block for the museum!
Then clay to bricks, and bricks to brick blocks. Not a terrible looking block and it adds a bit of variety
which allows you to get a mason

Impressive that he got all this stuff from just superflat and a bonus chest, but he even accidentally got something that shouldn't be obtainable in survival (the update game blocks)

Hanging mangrove propagules are now a variant of the ground placed propagule and those were the old ones.
This series inspired me to play flat survival in Java without structures. After generating the world twice, I didn't get any saplings so now I'm enjoying the grind with very very limited logs. Thankfully there are apples in the bonus chest so there's a way to get villagers still.

I’m attempting this for myself at the moment, I’m currently trying to get enough gold to cure villagers. I very foolishly decided to get the requisite ten iron WITHOUT a mob farm which took FOREVER but it’s been an enjoyable challenge so far, I’m excited to see how far I can take it!
Bruh it took like 5 hours with the farm are you ok?
it took around 15 hours, but it felt like way more since I was also having to be super active during the days to replenish my leather armour since I was getting very bad luck with getting armour from mobs
That's even worse I had half to full gold the whole time rn I'm waiting for lightning

I highly recommend Prowl's recent Iron farm, it doubles as a villager trading hall and is so much easier and very reliable in my experience, just replace his lava blade with a 3x3 grid of camp fires. You'll probably need to gather the iron manually to start with but once you have enough iron you can place a hopper collection system directly under the campfires. I have mine working with 40 villagers for quad golem spawning
The biggest problem with that iron farm is that it’s massive, and has too many nearby spawnable blocks. Plus the villagers are in a weird spot. A 10x10 box like 9 blocks high is all you need.
I started this challenge myself, but decided to delete the world and wait until 1.19 to create an achievements-on world. I'm really excited because this looks very interesting
I'm glad that in java I can play with achievements on any version and even if I have keep inventory on lol

@@gamermapper I have done a flat world challenge on Java many times but the thing that makes it so easy is villages because they have cobblestone trees for wood and villagers Detroit for anything you can imagine it makes it so much easier

19:29 That also happened to me when trying to control villagers to keep switching from Normal to librarian (for mending). They were obviously locked in their homes so they couldn't roam, but sometimes they would change their jobs into a leather worker from a normal villager, even though the couldron was 30 blocks away, lol.

Did you ever make a hopper collection system for the iron farm? Even when running properly they go so slow you'll only notice them working by checking the iron in the chest.
yes, he did put in hoppers. It worked, until it didn't
i remember watching a lot of your livestreams of this, and there were so many funny moments, and it's truly amazing how much you've accomplished in this world. i can't wait to see what you do next with this world.
Was watching the entire series vods, and had only 3 vods to go to but i could help myself and watched this vid first! Loved every part of it! For getting every block available i would suggest building a structure with a named witch for curing the villagers in a non chaotic way to get all the trades that are unavailable before this point

Wow, who knew you could do all this in a flat world? I wanted to tell you that if you make an iron farm on bedrock edition, it will only take 10 villagers, but you just need 20 beds, and each villager has to have a workstation. Just a little tip ;)

I feel like the item frame map is even better than the actual map, since it's a glitched item that you can't normally get in game, and you can always make a new map later!

With you iron farm, i noticed that you used a nitwit villager while making it, this may be the reason why it wasn’t working because iron golems don’t spawn around nitwits

Museums are a good build idea, especially for such an arduous set of parameters for a world.
You got me on a superflat survival challenge and my cactus has been waiting for sand as well. That bonus chest is actually relevant in superflat.
I am just about to start my flat world journey, this is going to be quite the challenge, i've never even played entirely through a normal survival world, so, this will be really interesting 😅😅 your series inspired me, it's so cool what one person can do when they understand the mechanics of minecraft

When you got the moss block, you could've gotten a bush that spawned and replanted it in dirt. If you bonemeal it, it turns into an oak tree variant.

Doing this right now, I'm up to 6 iron ingots and I'm doing really well with a tree farm and a mob farm with a 128x128 path block thingy. It's a slow process, but it's working! My overall goal is to complete a raid and also to build an iron farm with golems. Thanks for making this series as a kind of guide for me!

Hello, on your Iron farm make sure you place one loom and wait until it goes, then place another. Also it won't work during the night if you don't use smiting tables

Being limited is what make this challenge amazing. I've survived 496 days flat survival and made so many things. Before that I also tried with lava and 12 ender frames added, but after getting max gear (w/elytra) on day 232, I was burnt out. Also try this harder challenge, just flat world without even bonus chest. If you play bedrock pre-1.18, it's possible that vindicator spawn as a part of patrol (now you can only get pillager). You kill at least five of them to get 5 emerald for purchasing oak sapling. Then the challenge continues as normal.
at some point i hope this turns into "how many autofarms can we make in superflat?"
@ibxtoycat you can get rhinestones and stoncutters in a3 step process Step 1:Cure villagers until you get a stone mason Step 2:Buy polished granite off of him(as much as you can) Step 3:You can use polished granite as a stone replacement(for stonecutters and grindstones) Now you can get inf toolsmiths, stone masons, grindstones and stonecutters!

I didn't start planting flowers until the first beehive lol so flowers aren't necessarily needed for hives to spawn
this guys been here for all 3 eras of minecraft (old era 2010-2013, dark era 2014-2018 and modern era 2019-present).
This was all possible because of a bonus chest

they should make it so saplings spawn in java bedrock chests, since without it progression is basically impossible.
What is Java bedrock chests?
It’s still doable, you’re just limited on logs. You can make a crafting table to make the cauldron and bucket, and the chest can have the apples you need. You just aren’t able to mob proof with shovels or use wooden swords until you’ve got your first villager and have bought a sapling from the wandering trader. The chest should have enough logs that you can make a wooden hoe to farm carrots for the pigs.
Your iron farm breaking is almost a normal thing for MC now. Idk what it is about iron farms in the past 2 years (on Java AND Bedrock), but they always seem to have problems, breaking for no reason. I see it all over KZhead and servers I play on. I have a feeling it has something to do with a chunk loading error, since they never seem to break unless you unload the area. It’s like every time it’s loaded again there’s like a 10% chance of an error, so it’s gonna break eventually.
So basically he needs to build a device near the iron farm that keeps the chunk loaded once the farm is working properly?
