This song was made as a tribute to all the fans both new & old who made my Viking/Nordic-themed songs so successful over the last couple of years. Thank you all for the love & support you've shown to me and the Miracle Of Sound project! I'm taking a little break from Nordic/Viking songs for a little while after this , as I don't want to milk it to death & get burned out on it, but I'm sure I will return later at some point (and an alternative version of this song IS coming too!) 😉 Also special thanks to Thor, Espen, Marius and the Norwegian viking crew for the awesome video footage. Is that why this song sounds like a bittersweet farewell compared to the more bombastic Nordic songs you've done previously?
When my dad turned 70, I took him into a restaurant with a viking theme and gave him a little speech based on this song. Told him about how a great song tells about men of war and men of care and how he has always been the best and a totally man of care by taking care of me every second in my life. A big guy with a a beard who looks like a retired viking burst into tears by being so touched.
That is truly beautiful. Makes me want to go give my dad a hug and tell him the same thing.

My dad crossed the rainbow bridge tonight. (After a long battle with cancer) I feel that this song, along with the toast I have now given him, is a fitting farewell. Skål 🍻 dad! May you find peace and comfort in the mighty halls ❤

I love the lines "Men of War and men of care, maidens fierce and maidens fair", too many people focus on the "warrior" aspect of medieval Scandinavian culture when there were more craftsfolk, farmers, merchants, etc than there were warriors, and the call of SKOL is for all of them ❤

Most Norse men where farmers and craftsmen viking was an action not a job or title
It wasnt even that war-like of a culture, vikings, at most were raiders. They were mostly peacefull folks with like you said farmers, fisherman and merchants. Just like every culture, they partook in war and raiding, but not like you see in civilizations like celts, turks, mongols or even Zulus.
Norse culutre and Germanic culture for that matter put a lot off value on strength, so also on warriors in a way, you are right though. Nowadays we still see a lot of germanic's dominating strength based sports which is pretty cool.

To see them all acting out the viking lives makes me so happy. Its so innocently wholesome that so many people came together because they know people love the viking theme of their songs. Makes me wanna give them all hugs.
These costumes are pretty cringe. Doesn't look in anyway close to realistic viking apparel.

I added a translation on Valhalla calling me. It's hard to sing though as the length and pronunciation of the words don't match the speed of the song
@@EinDeutscherPatriot620 I guess changing the lyrics a bit should help with that. I've heard few different versions of "My Mother Told Me" and none of them is a 1:1 translation of the original.
"my mother told me" is originally told in norse, it's been extracted from a longer saga, translated to english and made into a song :D

Most songs describe the woes of being alone and focusing on a great battle. But I adore how this one is all about community, about there being room for everyone at the table, about fighting the battles together. As someone who has felt deeply alone and estranged in the world, I long for connectedness such as this; with people who speak my language, long to live in the fantasy world I do, and are on the same path as I am. May God bless me with such a welcoming tribe one day. Also loved “men of war and men of care, maidens fierce and maidens faire” outlining the amazing qualities that both men and women can possess. Farms put to the torch, And executions called the blood eagle. Where you would be put upright on a cross and your lungs opened from the back, would be draped over your shoulders. It took a long time to die. King Harold annihilated a viking army at Stamford bridge, before Marching 200 miles south in 6 days, to confront William the conquerers army at Hastings.
